Shirazmatas is a notable early player on EarthMC Classic, best known as a foundational figure and eventual leader of Panama, a major figure in the Panamanian Democratic Union (PDU), and co-founder of Neoma. Shirazmatas played a key role in developing early direct-democracy server politics and managing diplomatic expansion.
History
Founding of Panama
Shirazmatas joined EarthMC Classic shortly after the server was launched. Alongside Ayagad, omg_rawrwaifu, Rahl22, and Edvard_Persson, Shirazmatas co-founded the town of Panama. The town was established as one of the server's earliest experiments in direct democracy, functioning with decentralized power and held elections.
Leadership and the PDU
As founding mayor Ayagad grew inactive, leadership of Panama officially transitioned to Shirazmatas. Serving as the primary organizer and diplomat, Shirazmatas spearheaded player recruitment and brought new towns into the Panamanian Democratic Union (PDU). During this golden age, Panama expanded its diplomatic footprint globally, establishing colonies in Hawaii and Japan.
Panama–Oslo War
In October 2016, tensions flared between Panama and Oslo over an outpost constructed by Oslo in southern North America. Viewing the outpost as a threat, Panamanian forces encircled the area with a dirt barrier. This triggered a skirmish on October 24, 2016, involving KarlOfDuty and Oslo forces. Panama won the skirmish, successfully forcing the removal of the Oslo outpost.
Fall of Panama & Rise of Neoma
Following internal disagreements and a loss of interest in maintaining Panama's massive claim footprint, core members became inactive, and Panama eventually transitioned into a world heritage site.
Seeking a fresh creative outlet, Shirazmatas and fellow emigrants migrated to an Ethiopian hill to found Neoma. Conceived as a liberal rebranding project, Neoma abolished claim-sharing to prevent the property disputes that had plagued earlier efforts.
Community Contributions
Beyond in-game nation building, Shirazmatas actively engaged with server development, submitting bug fixes to the official EarthMC GitHub repository and proposing plugin improvements to Towny Advanced (such as mechanics for merging divided nations).
