The Republic of Texas
The Republic of Texas, also known as The Republic of Texas, Rio Grande, and Fredonia, Republican Texas, or simply Texas is a mega nation based out of the Texas region that formed on September 10, 2020 out of the remnants of Rio Grande. It was founded by President North Paso who acted as its first President. It would come into disputes with its neighbor, Louisiana, and would be unstable for the next couple of months. Future Pueblo Emperor Mr E became the second President, before resigning (which Paso acted as regent), before PotatoFilms was elected the Third and Final President of Texas before he, Pueblo, and Louisiana conducted a coup d'état on the Republic, fracturing it, and leaving The Vibedom of New Caledonia as the final rump state, which was annexed into Cascadia on May 10, 2021.
History
Rio Grande's History and Formation of Texas
The First Republic of Rio Grande was formed on June 27, 2019 by Emperor BigshotWarrior (mayor of Rio Grande Valley), Chancellor GodotArmando (mayor of College Station), and Lord Thanos (mayor of San Antonio). Over the next couple of months, Rio would begin to grow to 300 members and a powerhouse in the Texas region. During this time, North Paso joined College Station before founding Killeen.
By mid September, Rio had formed the Texas Commonwealth before it dissolved. In this process, Rio defeated its rival, the rebel state of the Texas Republic of Houston. At this point, Rio began to transition into a mega nation and into the great power of North America. Under the Chancellorship of Natezaa, the nation began to drift away from parliamentarianism and towards a mix of oligarchy and absolutism. This gave much influence to these new provisional governors.
By April of 2020, North Paso had rejoined Rio and became its Chancellor. Paso, during this time, saw the declining population and saw that Rio Grande was on a path of decline. He tried, unsuccessfully to reform the nation by opening up the nation to elections, decentralizing the mega-nation, and organizing the nation's construction projects. The only reform that came to pass was the establishment of the Nation Infrastructure Agency. Seeing this, Paso established the autonomous Republic of Killeen composed of the towns Fort Fredonia, College Station, New Sanford, Fort Hood, Killeen, and Dallas. The goal of this was to keep a small, active community which was separate of the main Rio government.
Paso was replaced with Cubs who upheld the status quo. Before his term was finished, Cubs and several other prominent Rio citizens left to form Sri Lanka. This left Rio a shell of its former self and made it apparent that Rio was declining. With Bigshot becoming inactive, Paso and Natezaa began calling for reforms to make the population interested. Bigshot then made The Amazing Moe Chief Executive of Rio. After this, Paso left for two months to Cascadia.
By August 10, Moe alerted Paso that he would be dismantling the Rio Grande mega nation. In response of this, Paso began organizing a group of active Rio citizens and governors. By August 12, Paso had established the Provisional Government of Rio Grande and Texas. The purpose of this was to keep Rio Grande together and to decide the future of the nation. During this time period, the Rio Province of Oklahoma was repurposed into the state of Republican Texas. With this occurring, many former Rio towns, primarily those who were part of the Republic of Killeen, joined this state. On August 24, Moe officially dissolved the Fifth Republic of Rio Grande. The same day, Paso was crowned by the Pope as Rio Grande Emperor. After this, THEF2PNOOB, acting governor of Louisiana, told Paso that Louisiana and Mississippi would be leaving the Provisional Government to form their own nation. The main causes for this were due to Paso's insistence to form an elective republic and differing ideas on allies. Over these next several days, the government would slowly begin to establish aspects of the future government. On September 10, the one year anniversary of the collapse of the Texas Commonwealth, Paso declared the reorganization of the Provisional Government into the Republic of Texas with him as its founding President.
The Sixth Republic of Texas, Rio Grande, and Fredonia
This Republic was functional from September 10, 2020 to November 11, 2020 and saw North Paso and Mr E as president.
The Seventh Republic of Texas
This Republic was functional in November of 2020, and was led by President Potato Films
The Vibedom of New Caledonia
This rump state was active until May 10, 2020, and was under the leadership of Vibelord North Paso.
Disputes Over Name
One of the major issues discussed over Texas is whether or not it is the continuation of Rio Grande. Paso, along with many in Texas, claim that while the culture of Texas is different than that of Rio Grande, Texas is politically the continuation of Rio Grande These people often state that "Texas is Byzantium to Rio's Rome". Paso, in particular, site that Texas formed out of a large plurality of Rio Grande's Provinces, and that the Provisional Government was an equal government to that of the Fifth Republic, thereby ruling in the original Rio Grande. He also cites his coronation as Rio Grande Emperor as another reason (Paso's claim to the throne comes from: 1 He was President of the Texas Commonwealth, thereby, he ruled over Rio Grande, and that Rio Grande post Commonwealth was a rebel state, thereby leaving the position of Emperor vacant for him to claim. 2 His position as Chancellor. The Chancellor of Rio Grande was originally heir to the throne, and due to Bigshot never appointing an heir, that one of the Chancellors would become Emperor. Due to Godot and Natezaa effectively quiting, the title passes to Paso as he was the Third Chancellor of Rio).
Others, such as Cubs, claim the Texas is not at all the continuation of Rio as it does not have the same people, government, or culture. He also cites the fact that the in game nation of Rio Grande was not part of either Texas or the Provisional Government.
