The Crusader State, officially Crusader States of Israel, Edessa, Kushan, and Iran (in local languages: Hebrew: מדינות הצלבנים של ישראל, אדסה, קושן ואיראן; Arabic: دول الصليبيين إسرائيل، الرها، كوشان وإيران; Farsi: کشورهای صلیبی اسرائیل، ادسا، کوشان و ایران; Urdu: صلیبی ریاستیں اسرائیل، ادسا، کوشان اور ایران), constitute a supranational state in the Middle East.
Geography
The territory of the Crusader States spans a vast and diverse geographical area, defined by its significant strategic reach:
- Western Boundary: The western edge follows the entire coastline of the Mediterranean Sea, from the Levant to the Sinai Peninsula. The Sinai itself remains under the influence of Egyptian forces, marking a critical southern barrier along the Mediterranean corridor.
- Northern Limit: To the north, the territory encompasses the regions now known as the Armenian Highlands and parts of the Caucasus, stretching to areas around the Caspian Sea.
- Eastern Extent: The eastern boundary reaches into the regions historically recognized as Bactria and the easternmost territories of Greater Iran. These areas correspond roughly to parts of modern Central Asia, lying west of the Indus River Valley and the Hindu Kush mountain range.
- Southern Reach: The domain covers the entire Arabian Peninsula, excluding the cape of the Arabian Peninsula.
