The Kingdom of Iberia, commonly known as Iberia, is a country and sovereign state located in the Caucasus region on Terra Nostra. As a faithful recreation of the historical Georgian Kingdom of Iberia, the nation is built around its cultural roots. The primary languages of Iberia are Georgian (spoken largely by the native community and used in official state affairs) and English (used for international diplomacy and by the broader EarthMC community).

The Kingdom of Iberia is situated in the mountainous and highly strategic Caucasus region. Serving as a crossroads between Eastern Europe and Western Asia, Iberia boasts a unique geographic position on Terra Nostra.

The nation focuses on building historically and culturally inspired architecture, reflecting traditional Georgian designs, mountainous fortresses, towns. The nation is driven by a close-knit community of players who work together to develop their infrastructure, secure their borders and establish trade routes across the continent. Iberia maintains active geopolitical ties with some neighboring states to ensure its sovereignty, participating in regional diplomacy and trade, as well as keeping a massive presence in the PVP scene of the entire Caucasus.

History

Pre-Server Planning and the Kartli Dispute

Prior to joining the server, the Iberian Council reached out to the neighboring nation of Georgia, sharing their plans to establish a capital city named Kartli. However, Georgia's government and its monarch, King Tendonkeys, greatly underestimated Iberia's potential. Taking advantage of the situation, a Georgian councilor hijacked the proposed town name and location, creating Kartli themselves during the early-access phase.

The Founding of Mtskheta and Poti

Undeterred by the setback, Iberian natives officially joined the server on May 1, 2026. They immediately founded the town of Mtskheta, which was established by King Gogicho II. Mtskheta was subsequently granted the official status of capital city for the Kingdom of Iberia.

Shortly after, the town of Poti was established on the Black Sea coast by Head Ambassador dvccyy. Thanks to the untiring efforts and dedication of the Iberian people, Poti swiftly expanded into a vital coastal hub.

Rise of Kutaisi and Consolidation

With Mtskheta and Poti steadily and rapidly growing, focus shifted toward central Georgian lands. The town of Kutaisi, which had been created by aki200 during the early-access period, began gaining significant ground. Together, these core towns formed the backbone of a rapidly rising Iberian nation.

Pre-Independence and the Cold War

While Mtskheta hosted intense military drills to prepare the populace, Poti opened its borders to new residents. Expanding rapidly northward, Poti's explosive growth cast a long shadow over the rival Georgian capital of Tbilisi.

With tensions mounting, the official nation of Iberia was formally established on May 7, 2026 (Day 7 of the server). Achieving recognized nationhood allowed Iberia to begin formal diplomatic negotiations. Azerbaijan, a sub-nation of Turkey, became Iberia's very first ally, with both communities pledging pure brotherhood and mutual defense to one another.

Following the creation of Rustavi, a tense Cold War settled over the Caucasus. Iberia and Georgia remained locked in a standstill with no direct military engagement, as both sides calculated their next moves.

The Armenian Invasion and Battle of Susa/Shushi

The fragile peace was shattered when Armenia, a sub-nation of Georgia, attempted to invade Azerbaijani territories. Iberia's military forces answered the call immediately. Intervening to protect their close allies, Iberian troops helped the Azerbaijani army repel the Armenian forces, culminating in a decisive victory at the Battle of Susa/Shushi.

Following the defeat, the Armenian warlord fled the region. The remaining Armenian towns chose to abandon Georgia, joining Iberia under an autonomous regional state known as the Caucasus Union. A brief period of peace followed within the newly formed union.

The Collapse of Georgia

Iberia's geopolitical dominance soon triggered a total political collapse within Georgia. Disillusioned by the perceived weakness of King Tendonkeys, the newly elected mayor of Kartli turned away from the Georgian crown and sought Iberian intervention, officially joining the Kingdom of Iberia.

Facing immense geopolitical turmoil and a splintering realm, King Tendonkeys resigned from the throne and put the nation of Georgia up for auction for 4,800 gold. Capitalizing on the internal chaos, numerous former Georgian towns fled to seek refuge under the Iberian flag, rapidly expanding the borders and population of the Kingdom.

The Iberian-Georgian War

The political vacuum in Georgia was quickly filled when Hill24671 forcefully seized power, exiling the rightful heir to the throne. Upon taking control, Hill24671 outright rejected a peaceful offer of reunification presented by the Iberian government. In response to this defiance, Iberia officially declared war on Georgia on May 14, 2026.

The outbreak of open conflict initiated a devastating campaign for the remaining Georgian loyalists. Highly skilled units of the Iberian Royal Guards conducted a series of ruthless manhunts and precision special military operations deep within enemy lines, inflicting massive casualties on Georgian forces and civilian sympathizers alike.

Desperate to halt the onslaught, King Hill24671 began searching for allies across Terra Nostra, ultimately taking the unexpected geopolitical step of joining the Islamic League of Terra. Despite seeking foreign intervention, the pressure from the Iberian military proved overwhelming. Ultimately, Hill24671 reached out to the Iberian Council to sue for peace, successfully negotiating a tentative three-day ceasefire to halt the hostilities.

Failed Negotiations and the Four-Day Ceasefire

Peace negotiations officially began after Hill24671 reached out to the Iberian Council, where his appeal was accepted in good faith. In a gesture of goodwill, the Iberian leadership authorized a three-day ceasefire to allow diplomatic talks to progress. Another day of ceasefire was given to Georgians after being unable to make a decision after three days - another generous gesture made by Iberians.

However, internal division paralyzed the Georgian government. Only a fraction of the Georgian Council actually engaged in the peace talks. When a proposal to merge the two realms into a unified Caucasus mega-nation was brought forward, the members of the Georgian Council who actually engaged in the peace talks were completely outvoted by a margin of 8 to 2.

Resumption of Hostilities

Following the collapse of the peace talks, Iberian intelligence noted that three particular Georgian councilors - a trio who had stood away from diplomatic sessions—were aggressively pushing for renewed conflict. Recognizing that Georgia had no true intention of peace, the Iberian military officially ended the ceasefire, renewed fire, and restarted their relentless, server-wide manhunt against Georgian loyalists.

The Regicide of Hill24671 - Operation "Kingslayer"

The climax of the campaign occurred on June 7, 2026. King Hill24671, who historically avoided leaving the safety of his nation's non-PvP boundaries, was caught off-guard in the wilderness by Iberia's Head Ambassador, dvccyy.

In a decisive duel, dvccyy swiftly executed the Georgian monarch. As the kinglet of Georgia fell to the blade, the victory was sealed with the historic Iberian battle cry: "იბერია გაბრწყინდება" ("Iberia will shine").
