Aurora:2025s Maracaibo Grand Prix
The 2025s Maracaibo Grand Prix was a Formula One Ice Boat Race which hosted the second race of the 2025 Spring Formula One World Championship. The race is remembered as the first victory of F1rret after two seasons in Formula One as well as the first pole position for KrisusQ, the return of later race winner 56Faxeo and the first podium of Semicolon since [[2023 Formula One World Championship|2023]. The race also marked F1rret's first time leading the Formula One World Championship after title rival GabeTM finished in fourth, continuing their title fight after colliding at turn one during the Detroit Grand Prix and finishing second and third.
The race was won by F1rret with a 2 second gap over Faxeo who strongly contended for the race win after returning to the Championship for the first time since 2023. Semicolon finished in third for his first podium since 2023 at his home Grand Prix. Pole position driver KrisusQ fell to sixth after failing a strategy. Likewise, both Renault drivers suffered from backmarkers with Gabe_TM failing to take the podium, contending with teammate and two time world champion Sab2003 who finished fifth.
Background
The Maraacaibo Grand Prix was hosted at every season in the Aurora period of EarthMC with a dramatic track change in 2024, moving the track underground. The original layout featured a raised, thin track with track elevation for 2022 which was altered after elevation changes were banned for 2023, this layout weaving in and out of buildings in place. The updated layout used from 2024 was an underground circuit. The main grid sat early on the main straight with the timing line positioned at the foot of the first corner. Turn one and two had a wall tap between with the second corner a long hairpin into a tight chicane between turns three and four with a harsh blockstop on the inside of turn 4. This led into a light left hander into a difficult blockstop on the inside of turn six. Turns seven and eight were a fast-paced near-straight with strict wall limits which punished running too close to the wall. Turns eight through ten were featured in the original 2022 circuit and were incredibly tight at around 6 blocks wide, needing an exception from the FIA. This section is opened by a quick blockstop on the inside, pushing into a tight straight after turn nine with very close walls and leading into a sharp right hander. Turns eleven and twelve were a subtle chicane which led into turn thirteen which was a wide blockstop. This led into turns fourteen and fifteen which featured a tight and wall-enforced chicane. Turn sixteen was a wide blockstop-hairpin which led into another wide blockstop-hairpin at turn seventeen after a straight with a viewing area on the outside. Turns eighteen to twenty-two was a fast section like between six and nine with a harsh wall on the outside. The pit was positioned on the outside of the track and was extremely small and tight at just three blocks wide and enforced by deepslate walls.
Entrants
The event was contested by all twenty drivers however PieTheHead and KartKid8 failed to attend the race.
Qualifying
Qualifying was held between Friday the 28th of February 2025 to Saturday the 1st of March 2025 with all contestants setting their classified time on the Saturday.
