Definition

An Ideology is a basic method by which a nation operates. On EMC, there are 3 major ideologies: Globalism, Regionalism, and Toxicism, each of which is defined below. Ideologies are not mutually exclusive: nations such as Spain has successfully mixed globalism and regionalism.

Globalism

Globalism is "An Ideology of a nation that focuses on adding towns due to strategic, economic, or other non-geographic importance". Globalism is the oldest ideology on the server, with the first Superpower Panama Democratic Union (PDU) being a globalist nation. Globalism reached its fullest extent in the summer of 2017 in the form of Prestige WorldWide (PWW), a nation that had so many towns around the globe that PWW was involved in most major events of the server, regardless of those events' location. Other examples of globalist nations include Prestige Imperium (PI) and Valkyria.

Regionalism

Regionalism is "An Ideology that focuses on adding all towns in a specified geographic region into one nation". At the same time PI was declining in late 2017, a huge upswing in the number and power of regionalist nations occurred. Russia, Canada, Jing/Jo/Zhou, and Germany have all been powerful regionalist nations.

Toxicism

Toxicism is the ideology of "toxic" players and nations. Toxicism is "An Ideology focused on limiting the enjoyability of others on the server". Toxicism is inherently unstable: toxic nations rarely last more than a couple of months, with major players in those nations either being banned or receiving numerous warns. Toxic nations tend to be aggressive, use force liberally, and may even resort to griefing or outpost blocking (where a town places an outpost near another town to limit the second town's expansion). Examples of toxic nations include Praxis, Maracaibo, and NATO/CCCP.
