The Reichstag Building (German: Reichstagsgebäude; short: Reichstag; officially: Reichstagsgebäude Mossau) between Salischstraße and Reichstagsforum in Mossau is seat of the Casey Reichstag since January 2020.

It was initially designed by DiamantAxt9494 in December 2019 and built the following month. The Reichstagsgebäude was renovated and expanded in June 2020 and early 2021. As of October of 2021 there are plans to retire the Reichstagsgebäude as seat of parliament and construct a new parliament building. The building however will be preserved as it was pronounced a protected building in June 2020.

Prestory

The initial seat of the Casey Reichstag was in the Bismarckturm a few blocks to the West. With the expansion of Mossau to the East in late 2019 it was decided to move the parliament to a new building, which lead to two chunks in the then-northeast part of the town being reserved to erect said building. The plans included the Reichstagsgebäude containing two large entrances, one in the front and one in the back, so that a road could be routed from the Reichstagsforum to future western districts. The gathering of resources and preperation for the construction, i.e. raising the terrain, began around New Years Eve and was finally completed two weeks later on 14 January 2020, just one day before the construction was completed.

Architecture

Exterior

Currently the Reichstagsgebäude consists of a two-floor stone main part, which includes the front building and the two side wings. On top of this main part there is the plenary hall. This plenary hall has a glass roof and walls but only extends over the front building, not the wings. The main part has a stonebrick frame filled in with smooth stone and large glass pane windows. When the Reichstagsgebäude was first constructed though, it was made out of wood and logs. It was also a bit taller and had more smaller floors. That initial build didn't appeal to many people, including Diamant, the builder himself. This ultimately lead to the complete renovation of the Reichstagsgebäude, which was executed by _Rilex_. The renovation completely changed the look of the building. Because of that many people call it not a renovation, but the construction of a completely new Reichstag building. The Reichstag's height and floor count would be decreased and the roof of the plenary hall lowered. This new design stood for a considerably longer timespan than the previous one until, in March or April 2021, two wings were added to the building. Those were two floors tall and would house new offices and a new staircase. In May 2021 it was planned to build a large spire on the northern wing. These plans however were scrapped due to lack of space and resources. Instead, it was decided to erect a large flagpole in the place were the spire was meant to be. The last change made to the exterior of the Reichstagsgebäude was in Summer 2021, when a chimney was added on the top.
