Newbury is a City located in the nation of Vermont. It's located immediately southeast of Vermont's capital city, and serves as a suburb and major connection through the Vermont Metro Area. Featuring several major parks, landmarks, entertainment venues, and a megashop, Newbury serves as a major tourist destination for Vermont. Reaching it's peak population of 81 the Fall of 2024, Newbury's population typically fluctuates between 60-80.

History

The City of Newbury was started on April 8th, 2024, as a suburb of Vermont City in the nation of Vermont. Located southeast of Vermont City, Newbury's purpose is to create a suburb of homes for Vermont residents, while providing fast access to the capital city as well as the Atlantic coast.

Prior to the town being founded, an initial design plan was created by its founder and mayor, mikesworldus. The initial town plan called for two main roads: Billi Avenue, running north and south, connecting Vermont City to the north and New York City to the south, as well as Maple Street, which runs east and west, which connects Montpelier to the west and ends at the Atlantic Ocean. At the intersection of these main roads would be the town square, designed in a similar fashion to a American small town center, with a town hall and main square as the centerpiece to the town.

The town initially started on the north end, where Billi Avenue connects into Vermont City. There, a temporary town hall was built, as well as a small shop to help fund continued expansion of the town. As more residents joined the town, the funding allowed the town to expand south to where the town square would be built. By the end of April 2024, the town was able to expand to where the town square was constructed, featuring a Town Hall built on the north end of the square, and the Town Square Park built immediately south of it, but renowned Vermont park builder Alfow. A series of small shops were built around the perimeter of the square, along with a small apartment building and grocery store on the west end of the square.

Once the square was completed, Newbury began to expand East, in order to eventually connect the Vermont Metro Area to the Atlantic Ocean. This happened by September 2024, when Vermont Beach was created, featuring a large beach area, a hotel, lighthouse, and many residential plots. Upon reaching this point, Newbury had run out of room to expand for now, but later, an agreement with New York allowed Newbury to expand south by a bit, and the falling of the town of Concord, Vermont in January 2025 allowed Newbury to claim the ruins and create Newbury Heights, an upscale residential and shopping district in its place, renovating the original Concord Tower as the centerpiece to the new distrct.

On February 5th, 2025, the town of North Boston left Vermont to join Illinois, and proceeded to overclaim the Newbury Pier district, an area that was under construction to feature a Santa Monica-inspired pier & boardwalk, beach, and upscale resort.
