Californian Creation Era
The Creation era spanned from the early access period of EarthMC Terra Aurora to the release of the server to the public, and lasted 13 days. This period was marked by the creation of California and several of its major towns.
Release
Terra Aurora was released at 4:00 PM GMT on Sunday, 1st of May 2022. All players were spawned within the Asian continent, making for a long trek to access the New World. Unbated was the first Californian to arrive in North America, entering from the East Coast region of New York. Cubs_ was the second Californian to arrive at the continent, landing in Santa Barbara. Sa_0110 was the third Californian to reach North America, landing in Los Angeles, slightly south of Cubs_. The town of Los Angeles was created, becoming the first town in the Americas. After this, all other founders teleported into Los Angeles after joining the town. The beginning of the server was rough, due to multiple crashes, leading to doubts that California could be the first nation created in the Americas. However, the players online at the time, including Starkiller1744, Cubs_, Unbated, THEF2PN00B, Sa_0110, and watergod continued to mine for gold to create the nation anyways.
Competition
Conflict occurred in California even before the nation was founded. Two factions had claimed the region as their own before Terra Aurora was released. The original Californians were composed of players from many Terra Nova nations, such as Texas Republic, Nubia, Britain, and Cascadia. However, another group had laid claim to the region as well, the Terra Nova Minnesotans, including players such as Beaverman1, N_S_X, CazyMan, Wayloren, LampeKing, and Brizan1. This led to a feud between the two groups, as they prepared to take over California for themselves. When the server released, the current Californians arrived before the Minnesotans, and being displaced, moved to Michigan. However, being frustrated that they were unable to claim the area, they constructed phallic symbols before leaving. This led to the Californians declaring war upon the Michiganders on the first day.
Creation
After nearly two days of collecting gold, the nation of California was finally created on the 3rd of May, 2022, at 4:57 AM GMT by StarKiller1744 with the capital being Los Angeles. There were five Californian towns at the time of the nation's creation, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Sacramento, and San Ignacio. Immediately after the creation of the nation, the spawn area was walled off to prevent anyone from griefing or sandmining. Shops were quickly established to boost the nation's economy as well.
Expansion
Following the creation of California, the towns all started to collect gold to expand their claims. Towns such as Los Angeles and San Ignacio ballooned in size to hundreds of chunks. The first builds in California started popping up as well, mainly houses built by players. However, most of the nation members spent their time mining the readily available gold in deepslate caves before they ran out. Because of the lack of food due to the server just beginning, a farm was established in Sacramento. Minutes before the shutdown of the server, a new town was added to the original five towns, Bakersfield, founded by LawofRence.
Planning
Due to the server being shutdown for a week long maintenance, time was spent on planning the new nation. Towns such as Fresno and San Luis Obispo were planned to be founded on the release day. Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Fresno all began designing their cities as well. The plan for a government, which had been De Facto up to this point, became De Jure after StarKiller1744 announced California's government hours before the release on May 13th.
