History
Pre-Launch Egypt
Egypt was a semi-planned nation founded in coordination with multiple groups. These groups and their histories are detailed below.
Immigration from Switzerland
Shortly before the launch of Nostra, some players changed plans to create towns in Switzerland due to disagreements over the leadership structure. One of these groups went on to form the nation of New_York. Another involved four players: Veyronity, Andre1098, qql, and JR1258. This group decided on settling in the land of Egypt, due to real-life interest, its semi-isolated location, and building potential afforded by the large rivers of the Nile.
During this period, the four came into talks with friends from Nubia and Alexandria to collaborate on forming the nation.
Founding of Alexandria
This section is for Alexandria's history. Alexandria was a long-running project by several Aurora players based out of Iceland. Pending input from the Alexandria team.
The Early Days
Egypt's eras cover the government by its monthly election cycles, while this period looks at the server launch of April 17 through May 31.
Race to Egypt
Alexandria was formed first, while the future capital of Cairo was formed shortly after.

Rise of the Canal Lord
One of the most critical early day towns in Egypt was Suez, which runs the full length of the Suez Canal. The Mayor Keronoia, who was bestowed the title Lord of Canals, swiftly recruited and claimed the area required for the canal. This both secured Egypt's eastern border with Asia and provided a large early boost of residents.
Within a couple of weeks, Keronoia had secured the necessary space to build the canal
The Suez Canal runs the full length of the Sinai. The canal is a chunk large and fully open, allowing for boats to pass through either side unimpeded. The water itself is 9 blocks deep, with the boats running three blocks below the surface. The canal is complemented by deepslate walls designed by Keronoia. Lanterns decorate the sides. In addition, Great Bitter Lake has been maintained, with small docks built around the edges.
The African Union
In collaboration with Nubia and other nations from Africa, Egypt was a founding member of the African Union.
The June Council
The beginning of June saw the first elections.
Peace with Palestine
On this day, Egypt and its ally Nubia made a peace treaty with the nation of Palestine.
The July Council
Cairo's Fishing Event
On July 25, Cairo hosted a server-wide fishing event.
Government
Egypt is an absolute monarchy that runs monthly elections for minister positions, with a handful of non-voting Advisors selected by the Pharaoh.
