The Kingdom of Romania, formerly known in-game as the Kingdom of Carpathia, is a constitutional monarchy and player nation on Terra Nostra. Founded by Bluwu101 on 29 May 2026 under the temporary name Carpathia, the nation emerged from the earlier Romanian political movement known as the Romanian Union, a coalition of Romanian towns across the Carpathians, Danube, and Balkan regions.
The state is known in-game as Romania, while its official name in treaties, laws, and government documents is the Kingdom of Romania. The name Carpathia was used between 29 May 2026 and 5 August 2026, after the rival Kalosvar-led faction had taken the in-game name “Romania” before the Romanian Union could formally create its nation.
On 5 August 2026, following the securing of Kalosvar and the end of the Transylvanian struggle, the Kingdom reclaimed the in-game name Romania. This marked the end of the Carpathian period and the restoration of the Romanian name to the state that had originated from the Romanian Union.
As of 7 August 2026, Romania had expanded to 284 total residents, of which 197 were active, with 35 member towns and approximately 2,416 claimed chunks. Its rapid growth, diplomatic network, and consolidation of Romanian territory transformed it from a loose movement of Romanian settlements into one of the major political powers of southeastern Europe.
Overview
The Kingdom of Romania is a Romanian constitutional monarchy centered around the capital city of Bucharest. Its political identity is based on Romanian unity, constitutionalism, democracy, town autonomy, diplomacy, and the right of communities to self-determination.
Romania is composed of semi-autonomous towns whose mayors retain control over local development and internal administration. Towns participate in national institutions, parliamentary votes, elections, referendums, and government initiatives.
Although the state was founded under the name Carpathia, its institutions, leadership, constitution, capital, and political identity remained Romanian throughout the Carpathian period. The restoration of the name Romania on 5 August 2026 was therefore viewed not as the creation of a new state, but as the recovery of the proper name of the existing Romanian kingdom.
Early Romanian Settlement
Romanian settlement on Terra Nostra began during the server’s pre-launch period. Several towns were founded across the Carpathian basin, along the Danube, and in regions corresponding to modern-day Romania.
The most important early settlement was Bucharest, founded by Bluwu101 on 18 April 2026. Other early Romanian towns included Galați, founded by danyyboss07, Tulcea, founded by myhnealut, and București, founded by Vlad12o. Vlad12o’s București was later renamed Iași, as the town had originally been created without knowledge that Bluwu101 had already founded Bucharest.
During the early period, these towns were only loosely connected. There was no single Romanian state, and many Romanian communities existed independently or temporarily within larger foreign nations for practical benefits such as teleportation and increased chunk limits.
Creation of the Romanian Union
Before the public launch of Terra Nostra, the Romanian towns were not yet formally united. This changed when the Bucharest Council created a Discord-based organization known as the Romanian Union.
A more formal name sometimes used for the early movement was the Union of the Tricolor, referring to the Romanian national flag and the shared identity of the towns involved.
The Romanian Union gathered local mayors and helped coordinate diplomacy, political organization, and future state-building. At the time, the combined population of Romanian towns was around 25 residents, with Bucharest being the largest town, holding approximately 6 residents.
The public launch of Terra Nostra brought a large influx of new players across Europe. This caused major server lag but also led to rapid expansion. Romanian settlements across the Carpathians grew from around 25 residents to roughly 40 residents in less than one week, continuing to expand throughout May, June, and July.
Constitution and First Government
On 6 May 2026, the Romanian Constitution was signed and voted into effect.
The Constitution established the Romanian political project as a constitutional monarchy built around town autonomy, democracy, and the right of communities to self-determination. Unlike earlier rigid state models, the Romanian Constitution did not define fixed borders. Instead, it affirmed that Romania reserved the right to interact with Romanian communities and that all towns possessed the right to decide their own affiliation.
As Romanian towns continued organizing, a major question emerged: who would lead the future Romanian state, and where would its capital be? The Romanian Union therefore held an election for the title of national leader, reflecting one of the movement’s central ideals: democracy.
The candidates were:
- Bluwu101, mayor of Bucharest
- Huskiscool, mayor of Timișoara
- Vampyrhum, mayor of Brașov
- Portalium, mayor of Transylvania/Sinaia
- Vlad12o, mayor of București, later Iași
Bluwu101 won the vote and was elected the first Voievod of the Romanians on Terra Nostra. Following the election, an interim government was formed, with Vlad12o appointed as Prime Minister by Bluwu101. Later, the first Prime Ministerial election was won by Vampyrhum, mayor of Brașov, who formed the first elected Romanian government.
The Transylvanian Crisis
The first major crisis faced by the Romanian Union came from Kalosvar. During the early period, many Romanian towns had temporarily joined larger foreign nations, most notably Italy, for practical advantages. This temporary dependence created political complications.
A group of Turkish players affiliated with Italy settled Kalosvar near the real-life location of Târgu Mureș. These players presented themselves as Roman Empire roleplayers and later claimed Transylvania in the name of Italy.
According to Romanian accounts, Kalosvar’s leaders, including GoDd1 and iliuyu, joined the early Romanian Union in order to observe Romanian organization efforts while remaining aligned with Italy. Tensions escalated on 7 May 2026, when Kalosvar and Italian-backed forces claimed Transylvania and pressured Romanian towns in the region.
Kalosvar demanded that Romanian towns in Transylvania, including Brașov, Sighișoara, Târgu Mureș, and Transylvania/Sinaia, be sold or transferred to them. They warned that refusal would lead to war and deaths.
The Romanian Union voted against abandoning its Transylvanian members. The decision was made to defend fellow Romanian towns rather than leave them under Kalosvar’s pressure.
In protest against Italy’s support for Kalosvar’s claims, Romanian towns joined Sicily rather than remaining aligned with Italy. Italian leaders refused to mediate or negotiate against Kalosvar’s aggression and wilderness killings, further worsening relations. The Transylvanian Crisis later evolved into the wider Carpathian Crusade.
Nameblocking and Foundation as Carpathia
The Romanian Union contained diverse political priorities. The majority of members wanted to prioritize local development and the growth of individual cities before creating an official nation. A smaller faction argued that the Union should immediately collect gold and create a nation before a rival group could take the Romanian name.
This concern proved accurate when the Kalosvar-led faction created the in-game nation of Romania on 28 May 2026, shortly before the Romanian Union was prepared to do so itself.
Romanians referred to this rival state as Turkish Romania or Fake Romania, arguing that it was founded by Kalosvar to damage Romanian resistance in Transylvania by nameblocking the legitimate Romanian movement.
On 29 May 2026, one day after Kalosvar created the in-game nation of Romania, Bluwu101 founded the Kingdom of Carpathia with the support of the Romanian Union and its member mayors.
The name Carpathia was chosen because the name Romania was no longer available. Despite this, Carpathia claimed institutional, political, and cultural continuity with the Romanian Union. Because the Union had already developed infrastructure, diplomacy, and internal organization, Carpathia did not suffer major legitimacy or administrative issues after foundation.
Most neighboring Balkan states were aware of Kalosvar’s nameblocking and recognized Carpathia as the legitimate Romanian government. Carpathia therefore functioned as the temporary name of the Romanian state until the Kingdom could reclaim the name Romania.
Relations with the Soviet Union and the Prut Dispute
On 18 May 2026, N2O, leader of the Soviet Union, approached Romania regarding the creation of a defined border. The Soviet Union proposed the Prut River as a border, with neither side settling towns across it.
Bluwu101 agreed to the proposal after consulting Romanian ministers, as there were no Romanian towns in Bessarabia at the time. However, Bluwu stated that Chișinău, whose mayor and co-mayor had previously agreed to join the Romanian Union, would not be abandoned unless its own rulers wished to withdraw.
Following internal Soviet discussions, the rulers of Chișinău claimed they had never agreed to join Romania, despite Romanian evidence to the contrary. N2O stated that the Prut agreement would remain verbal until Romania became an official nation, after which it could be formally signed.
On 19 May 2026, Rumelia was founded by ThatOneKaiser near the real-life region of Ialomița. Rumelia later joined the Soviet Union. Romania did not initially act hostile toward Rumelia, despite viewing its settlement as inconsistent with the spirit of the Prut agreement, because the Constitution recognized the right of towns to self-determination and affiliation.
By early June 2026, tensions between Romania and the Soviet Union increased. On 6 June, Rumelia attempted to involve Klaudine, Soviet Minister of Foreign Affairs, in order to defuse tensions and propose an alliance.
Romania refused, arguing that the Soviet Union had failed to respect the Prut border. The Soviet position was that Rumelia had chosen to join the Soviet Union and that the agreement had been made after Rumelia’s creation, making it void or inapplicable.
Romania rejected this interpretation, arguing that the agreement never mentioned Rumelia as an exception and that the agreed border remained the Prut.
On 10 June 2026, Romania assisted the settlement of Soroca in Bessarabia. Soroca joined Romania, marking Romania’s own violation of the verbal Prut agreement, justified by Romania on the grounds that the Soviets had already failed to respect it.
Over time, the Soviet Union became increasingly inactive. This inactivity weakened Soviet influence over Rumelia and helped lead to Rumelia’s later decision to join Romania, at the time still known in-game as Carpathia.
The Carpathian Crusade
Main article : Carpathian Crusade
The conflict between Romania and Turkish Romania developed into a prolonged political and territorial struggle known by Romanians as the Carpathian Crusade.
On 9 June 2026, Turkish Romania attempted to negotiate with Carpathia. Their proposal claimed nearly all remaining Romanian lands except for already existing Carpathian towns. Although this was less extreme in Transylvania than previous Kalosvar claims, it still denied Romanian towns the right to expand and claimed the entirety of Oltenia, which had not previously been part of their demands.
Romania attempted to propose a compromise based on the Mureș River, with western areas going to Turkish Romania and eastern areas remaining under Romanian influence. Turkish Romania rejected this proposal, causing negotiations to fail.
On 10 June 2026, border tensions escalated as Turkish Romania continued expanding in Transylvania and was accused of harassing new players. In response, LandellCat founded Covasna to contest Turkish expansion.
The Order of the Dragon was founded by fighters from Sighișoara, Bucharest, Galați, and other Romanian towns to defend Romanian settlements and oppose Turkish Romania’s territorial expansion.
Additional Romanian towns, including Cluj and Gherla, were founded in contested regions. The campaign combined settlement, territorial expansion, defensive operations, diplomacy, and political pressure rather than consisting of a single conventional war.
On 22 June 2026, MrAnilcaan_B, one of the leading figures of Turkish Romania, was banned from the server. Two days later, on 24 June 2026, GoDd1 left to Turkey in-game, while most remaining supporters of Turkish Romania either gave up organized resistance or became inactive.
This effectively ended active opposition to Romania in Transylvania. However, several inactive outposts and small towns remained in contested areas. Kalosvar itself remained unresolved until 5 August 2026, while some other inactive settlements continued to exist even afterward.
The Carpathian Crusade was therefore a strategic Romanian victory by late June, even though its final symbolic conclusion came later with the securing of Kalosvar.
Union with Rumelia
Despite the earlier Prut dispute, relations between Romania and Rumelia later improved.
Following the growing inactivity of the Soviet Union and local political developments, Rumelia eventually chose through a democratic process to join the Kingdom of Romania, which was still known in-game as the Kingdom of Carpathia at the time.
Its accession was presented by the Romanian government as an exercise of the constitutional right of towns to self-determination rather than a territorial annexation.
Following the union, Rumelia received the same rights and benefits as other Romanian towns, including local autonomy, political representation, access to national infrastructure, and participation in the Kingdom’s economic and diplomatic institutions.
The union brought the earlier dispute over Rumelia to a peaceful conclusion and strengthened Romania’s position along the lower Danube.
Union with Marcianopolis
Marcianopolis was originally perceived by Romanian officials as a settlement aligned with or dependent upon Nicaea. Relations were initially tense, particularly because of wider disputes involving Nicaean influence in the region.
The political situation changed after the co-mayoral government of Marcianopolis expressed interest in joining Romania. Negotiations resulted in an Act of Union between Marcianopolis and the Kingdom.
Under the agreement, Marcianopolis joined Romania as an autonomous constituent town and received all constitutional rights, protections, and benefits of national membership.
Marcianopolis became the seat of the Duchy of Cadrilater, with its mayor receiving the title of Duke of Cadrilater. The town retained authority over its local government, development, and internal administration.
The Act of Union also ended all previous hostilities and disputes between Marcianopolis and Romania. Both parties committed themselves to resolving future disagreements through diplomacy.
The union strengthened Romanian influence in southern Dobrogea and further demonstrated the Kingdom’s policy of incorporating towns through voluntary agreements rather than forced annexation.
Rapid Expansion
Following the conclusion of the Carpathian Crusade and the accession of several new communities, Romania entered a period of rapid expansion.
New towns were established throughout Wallachia, Moldavia, Transylvania, Dobrogea, and neighboring regions. Other pre-existing settlements voluntarily joined the Kingdom after negotiations with the national government.
By early August 2026, Romania contained 35 towns, compared with only 12 towns on 11 June. Its total population had grown to 284 residents, of which 197 were active as of 7 August, while its claimed territory increased to approximately 2,416 chunks.
Among its towns were Bucharest, Brașov, Galați, Cluj, Iași, Ploiești, Rumelia, Adjud, Bacău, Craiova, Danubia, Drobeta, Fortress of Deva, Mamaia, Manasia, Micuțchei, Kalosvar, and numerous other settlements.
This growth established Romania as one of the largest and most populous nations in the region.
The Constanța Crisis and Operation Iron Ring
One of Romania’s most serious internal crises involved the town of Constanța. Despite its name, the settlement was located inland along the Danube rather than at the historical Black Sea location of Constanța.
The town was led by RObby6996, also known as Vault-Tec on Discord. Another influential resident was ItzDarken, a wanted player associated with the SPQR community.
Relations between Constanța and the national government gradually deteriorated. Romanian authorities accused the town’s leadership of repeatedly ignoring national directives, creating diplomatic incidents, and refusing attempts at mediation.
The crisis escalated after ItzDarken hunted and killed Canadian players while Constanța remained part of Romania. Because the attacks were committed under the Romanian national banner, Canada held the wider Kingdom responsible.
On 10 July 2026, Canadian representatives issued an ultimatum demanding that Constanța be removed from Romania or that the Kingdom face war.
King Bluwu101 condemned the hunting and stated that neither the Crown nor the Romanian government had authorized or supported ItzDarken’s actions. He also explained that many Romanian officials and mayors were away on summer vacation and could not immediately enter the server to carry out administrative action.
Shortly after the ultimatum, RObby6996 withdrew Constanța from Romania and joined SPQR, an Italian-based faction claiming the legacy of the Roman Empire.
Following Constanța’s departure, Romanian towns launched a coordinated territorial containment effort known as Operation Iron Ring. The operation was intended to isolate Constanța and restrict its access to surrounding wilderness. Rather than attempting a direct annexation, neighboring Romanian towns expanded their claims until Constanța was almost entirely enclosed by Romanian territory.
The stated purpose of the operation was to limit further attacks, prevent hostile expansion, and protect nearby Romanian settlements and transport routes.
During the operation, forces associated with Constanța reportedly killed several Romanian citizens. Nevertheless, Romanian towns continued expanding around the settlement.
Approximately two weeks after the beginning of the operation, the encirclement was completed. Constanța was left territorially isolated from most surrounding wilderness, significantly restricting its ability to expand or conduct further attacks against neighboring towns.
On 3 August 2026, as part of Operation Iron Ring, Romanian authorities recaptured the Danube bridge and blockade that Constanța had attempted to impose through overclaiming chunks along the river. The operation was led in large part by Rumelian figures, especially ThatOneKaiser, mayor of Rumelia, and DominusJunion, a Rumelian general.
The recovery of the bridge restored Romanian control over an important Danube passage and further weakened Constanța’s position. By early August, RObby6996 had self-exiled from Constanța and was rumored to be planning a new settlement in California.
On 6 August 2026, SPQR demanded that the bridge be returned to Constanța. Romanian authorities ignored the demand, treating it as a bluff and maintaining control over the recovered blockade.
Romanian accounts describe Operation Iron Ring as a successful example of coordinated territorial action by the Kingdom’s towns.
Entry into the Sicilian - Italian War
Main article : The Great European War
On 2 August 2026, Romania entered the Sicilian - Italian War following a national vote. The Kingdom condemned the Italian invasion of Sicily and declared its support for Sicily against Italian aggression.
Romania joined the war alongside Sicily, Poland, and the SPQR, forming what became known as the European United Front. This coalition opposed the Triple Entente, which Romania viewed as responsible for aggressive expansion and destabilization in the region.
Romania’s entry into the war marked one of its first major international military commitments after its rapid expansion and political consolidation. The decision reflected the Kingdom’s growing role beyond the Romanian lands and its willingness to act alongside allies in wider European conflicts.
Restoration of Romania
Although the Carpathian Crusade had ended active Turkish Romania opposition by late June, the question of Kalosvar remained symbolically important to the Kingdom. Kalosvar had been central to the earlier nameblocking of Romania and to the foreign-backed claims over Transylvania.
The final stage of the struggle became known as the Carpathian Crusade. Its goal was to secure the remaining contested Transylvanian lands and bring the legacy of the Kalosvar crisis to a definitive end.
On 5 August 2026, Kalosvar was secured by vampyrhum of Brașov, with the assistance of Ulanman, one of Brașov’s senior figures. Following the operation, Ulanman became mayor of Kalosvar.
The securing of Kalosvar marked the final symbolic end of the Transylvanian conflict. For Romania, it represented both a territorial and symbolic victory: the town that had once been used to challenge the Romanian Union was brought under Romanian-aligned control.
Following this success, the Kingdom finally reclaimed the in-game name Romania on 5 August 2026. This date is remembered as the end of the Carpathian period and the restoration of the Romanian name.
Foreign Relations
Romania developed diplomatic relations with several nearby and international partners.
Romania signed the Balkan Stability Accords with Yugoslavia, establishing friendship, non-aggression, trade, and defensive cooperation while excluding any automatic obligation to join offensive wars.
It later established the Two Gates Initiative with Portugal, named after the positions of Portugal and Romania at the western and eastern gateways of Europe. The Initiative focused on friendship, trade, intelligence exchange, and voluntary assistance without creating a military alliance.
Romania also signed the Crossroads Accord with Sicily, promoting diplomatic, cultural, and economic cooperation between the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions.
Romania later established an alliance with the Kingdom of Spain, strengthening its diplomatic network beyond the Balkans and the Black Sea. The alliance was based on mutual respect, non-aggression, diplomatic cooperation, and shared defensive assistance against common threats.
By early August 2026, Romania’s formally listed allies included:
- Yugoslavia
- Poland
- Sicily
- Ukraine
- Greater Armenia
- Kingdom of Spain
Romania also maintained relations with Georgia, Portugal, Byzantium, the Bulgarian Union, and other regional entities.
The Kingdom participated in wider Balkan cooperation efforts, including proposals for shared courts, intelligence exchange, regional security, and a common judicial framework.
Romania also joined Avocadoapache’s United Nations, led by The Lorax, as a founding member. This United Nations is distinguished from the rival German-backed United Nations.
Internal Security
Romania has faced repeated incidents involving wilderness hunting, road banditry, traps, and attacks against travellers.
One notable incident involved the player TranceMusic, who was accused of using invisibility and diamond equipment to ambush a Romanian citizen near the road between Ploiești and Bucharest.
The government subsequently issued public safety notices advising citizens to avoid carrying valuables through wilderness areas and to use town teleportation whenever possible.
Citizens may travel safely between public Romanian towns through the command:
/t spawn [town name]
Mayors are encouraged to enable this access through:
/t toggle public
Players found hunting or repeatedly attacking Romanian citizens may be declared Outlaws of the Realm and restricted throughout Romanian territory.
By early August 2026, several players were formally listed as national outlaws, including GoDd1, RObby6996, ItzDarken, and others.
Political System
Romania is organized as a constitutional monarchy. The monarch bears the title of King and is also associated with the earlier title Voievod of the Romanians. Executive government is carried out through the Prime Minister, ministers, and other officials.
The political culture of Romania emphasizes:
- Democracy
- Constitutional monarchy
- Town autonomy
- Self-determination
- Romanian unity
- Local development
- Diplomacy and trade
- Defense of Romanian communities
Unlike more centralized states, Romania’s constitutional philosophy recognizes towns as semi-autonomous constituent communities with the right to determine their own affiliation.
National laws and major political decisions are debated through the Parliament of Romania. Elections are held for the office of Prime Minister and other representative positions.
Romania has also developed political parties, national taxation proposals, public infrastructure programs, national employment initiatives, and systems for distributing government assistance to towns.
Economy and Infrastructure
Romania operates a market economy based on private trade, town development, government assistance, and national infrastructure projects.
The national government has supported proposals involving:
- Public works and construction employment
- Financial assistance for new towns
- National stores and trade centers
- Infrastructure funding
- Town claim support
- Loans and material assistance
- Roads and transportation links
- Shared work centers for new settlers
Romanian policy generally emphasizes economic development and diplomacy rather than purely military expansion.
The Kingdom has also encouraged mayors to establish public work centers, shared resources, guidance books, and teleportation access for citizens.
Internal Challenges
Romania’s first major domestic challenge was population. Because the nation initially had a smaller population than Sicily, its chunk-limit bonus was lower. This prevented some affiliated towns from safely joining Romania without risking overclaim.
It took roughly two weeks for Romania to reorganize itself sufficiently to allow more towns to join safely. Continued recruitment and development later removed most of these early restrictions.
A later challenge emerged from the Kingdom’s rapid territorial growth. Coordinating dozens of towns required stronger national institutions, improved transportation, clearer laws, and greater cooperation between local mayors.
Romania also faced the difficulty of balancing town autonomy with collective diplomatic responsibility. The Constanța Crisis demonstrated how actions by individual towns or citizens could affect the foreign relations of the entire Kingdom.
Legacy and Identity
The Kingdom of Romania defines itself through continuity with the Romanian Union and the Romanian towns that existed before formal nation creation. Its supporters argue that the Romanian state was not created by the in-game name alone, but by the people, towns, institutions, and shared identity that formed around Bucharest and the Romanian Union.
For this reason, the former name Carpathia is remembered as a transitional name used during the period when the Romanian name was unavailable. It did not represent a separate national identity, but rather the temporary legal and diplomatic form of the Romanian state.
The victory of the Carpathian Crusade ended the challenge of Turkish Romania, while the democratic accession of Rumelia and the Act of Union with Marcianopolis expanded the Kingdom through the principle of self-determination.
Operation Iron Ring demonstrated the ability of Romanian towns to act collectively during a national security crisis. The recovery of the Danube blockade on 3 August 2026 further secured Romania’s control over an important river passage and weakened the remaining threat posed by Constanța.
The securing of Kalosvar on 5 August 2026 marked the final symbolic end of the Transylvanian conflict and allowed the Kingdom to fully reclaim the name Romania in-game. This date is therefore remembered as the end of the Carpathian period and the restoration of the Romanian name.
Today, Bucharest remains the capital of the Kingdom of Romania, while the nation contains numerous towns across Wallachia, Moldavia, Transylvania, Dobrogea, Bessarabia, and the wider Balkan region.
