Zordeaux -locally known as Zôrdlen, or Deaun- is a Saxon town found geographically in South-West Gascony, on the River Garonne (Flas-Garôn) and the Occitan canal. It borders Bordeaux, Bilbao, Nantes and Aquitani.

History

Early History

The early history is vague, but the original Zeont people originated from either near the Alsace-Lorraine area, or near Lingolsheim or Sion during the expansion of the Saxon kingdom. Due to competition for space, the lack of usable land and there being no bodies of water nearby, the Zeonts migrated west to the space along the French-Occitan coast, bordering the Garonne. In November, Zeontes the Zealous established an official port-town under guidance from King Kristaux for the migrants.

The placement of this outpost-town caused strife, especially from the Spanish town of Bilbao (which claimed the area) and the surrounding Frankish and French towns. Nevertheless, the settlement had access to several different nations for trade, and grew quite prosperous as the Zeont-Saxons peacefully exchanged culture with the native Occitans, Bretons and Franks, and amalgamated into the contemporary Zeont culture.

Tensions with the French

The placement of the town became precarious, and ignited tension between Francia and Saxony which led to war. The town stood it's ground and united the penninsula nonetheless.

Political system

The town is a Margraviate and the only Saxon town truly in historic French borders.

Religion and Culture

The official religion is Shrekism, brought over from Saxony. The minority religions in the area are unknown, but it is thought that Shrekism is indeed the majority faith. The town hosts the Temple of St. Tom Scott and the Archtemple dedicated to St. Asni Ceoling (Donkae).

The culture is diverse with different Occitan/Breton, Frankish and Saxon traditions that have mixed together into a unique sort of art form and architecture, as well as a pidgin Germanic language known as Zordch spoken by the population. It's thought to have come about from all the cultures trying to understand each other and to learn parts of their language, which led to the language moulding to be mildly followable-at-times for everyone. It has Germanic roots with the genitive and dative, but has significant French-Occitan vocabulary and orthography. A recent vowel-shift and spelling debates has led to this weird language being almost like an alternate version of English.

Local cuisine includes Filêj-Mulc (Beef loin boiled in it's own Milk)

Economy

Sells cows, but does not yet have a formal shop.
