The Romanian Union was a pre-national political organization on Terra Nostra created to coordinate Romanian towns before the formation of the Kingdom of Carpathia (Now Romania). Founded by the Bucharest Council, it served as the political and institutional predecessor of Carpathia and Romania.
The Union gathered Romanian mayors, organized early diplomacy, held leadership elections, helped adopt the Romanian Constitution of 6 May 2026, and coordinated the response to Kalosvar’s claims over Transylvania. After the in-game name Romania was taken by the Kalosvar-led faction on 28 May 2026, the Union transitioned into the Kingdom of Carpathia on 29 May 2026 and later Kingdom of Romania on 5th August 2026
Background
During Terra Nostra’s pre-launch period, several Romanian towns existed across the Carpathians and along the Danube, including Bucharest, Galați, Tulcea, and București, later renamed Iași. These towns were initially loosely organized and often affiliated with larger foreign nations for practical benefits such as teleportation and chunk limits.
To coordinate these scattered settlements, the Bucharest Council created the Romanian Union as a Discord-based organization for Romanian mayors and affiliated communities.
Organization
The Romanian Union acted as a political coalition rather than an official in-game nation. It coordinated diplomacy, town relations, constitutional discussions, and preparation for future nation creation.
The Union promoted Romanian unity, democracy, town autonomy, constitutional monarchy, and the right of towns to self-determination.
Election of the Voievod
As the Union grew, its members held an election to decide who would lead the future Romanian state. The candidates included Bluwu101 of Bucharest, Huskiscool of Timișoara, Vampyrhum of Brașov, Portalium of Transylvania/Sinaia, and Vlad12o of București/Iași.
Bluwu101 won the election and became the first Voievod of the Romanians on Terra Nostra. An interim government was then formed, with Vlad12o appointed as Prime Minister.
Constitution
On 6 May 2026, the Romanian Union adopted the Romanian Constitution. The constitution established the Romanian political project as a constitutional monarchy based on democracy, town autonomy, and self-determination.
Unlike more centralized states, the constitution did not define fixed borders. Instead, it affirmed the right of Romanian communities to affiliate freely and the right of towns to determine their own political future.
Conflict with Kalosvar
The Union’s first major crisis came from Kalosvar, a Turkish-led settlement affiliated with Italy. Kalosvar claimed Transylvania in the name of the Roman Empire and demanded that Romanian towns such as Brașov, Sighișoara, Târgu Mureș, and Transylvania/Sinaia be transferred or sold.
The Romanian Union rejected these demands and voted to defend its Transylvanian members. This crisis strengthened the Union’s role as a common political and defensive organization for Romanian towns.
Thus the Carpathian Crusade began lasting from 7th May to 22th June 2026.
Transition into Carpathia
On 28 May 2026, the Kalosvar-led faction created the in-game nation of Romania, preventing the Romanian Union from using the name itself. Carpathians later referred to this rival state as Turkish Romania or Fake Romania.
On 29 May 2026, Bluwu101 founded the Kingdom of Carpathia with the support of the Romanian Union and its member mayors. Although the new nation could not use the name Romania in-game, it claimed political and institutional continuity from the Romanian Union.
Legacy
The Romanian Union is remembered as the direct predecessor of the Kingdom of Carpathia. It transformed the Romanian towns from a loose group of settlements into an organized political movement with elected leadership, constitutional principles, diplomacy, and a common national identity.
Its main legacy was the creation of the institutions and political legitimacy that allowed Carpathia to form quickly after the Romanian name was taken.
On 5th August the name has been taken back by the legitimate Romanian (Carpathian) Nation
