They cultivated the land and started erecting their first builds. Several days later, they decided to establish their town there, dreaming of founding Chita someday.
They named their new settlement Svobodopol, the City of the Free. Eventually, more and more settlers came, and together they made Svobodopol a flourishing oasis of the Altai mountains. It was decided that the Schilka treasury should be secured and moved to Chita. During the operation, a brave Chita soldier was killed by a Chinese raider. Thanks to the great Chita guardians, the heritage of Schilka was secured and can be seen at the Baikal palace museum.
