Zloty_Stok (proper polish real-life name: Złoty Stok) - medium-sized town in Poland in the czech-moravian region, mostly south of Sudetes. Since creation in 2019.11.30, neighbored by Wroclaw and Prague. Still maintained by its creator Kieubasiarz and formerly vice-mayor WarAndroid. Styled on a typical polish/czech town with tenements.

History

First months

Zloty_Stok on 2019.12.20. Town border is a cobble wall.
25 days after Kieubasiarz first joined the server on 2019.11.05, and 3 deaths, he got enough vote crate gold to create the town. The first chunk was made on the east side of current town hall, which itself was completed a week later.

The name is a reference to a real-life town, although later it has been noticed it's a bit off the location.

The first "industry" was selling wool, after some rare wild sheep spawned near the town. Later on, a sign shop was made near the border with Prague, as it had a neutral /n spawn and made the shop easily accessible to outsiders, without the need to purchase embassies in bigger cities. More resources were added, most notably colored concrete. Record profits were about 200G in 2 days.

On 2019.12.24 WarAndroid first joined the server and asked to join. Since then, over a month, he gained trust and became a vice-mayor, switching to mayor role sometimes for convenience. In late December, first proper residential buildings near town hall were built for possible residents. Nation bonus was big enough, that only people who asked by themselves to join were invited. There weren't any big projects for the town.

Austrian expansionism

In mid-march, Austria began a project to claim all of Czechoslovakian towns, It began with instantly recreating Bratislava after it fell of inactivity. Ostrava was bought when it was for sale. Kieubasiarz offered Czechoslovakia to become a capital for them if there was a need, and supported independence, not only for a nation spawn, but because of history, neighborhood and similar town and road designs. Poland did not comment on this to not spark more austrian aggression.

After a week of entrusting the new president of Czechoslovakia (tyrone_8104, former vice of Probatski), an austrian spy got lead of Prague and on 2020.04.05 the government surrendered. Soon after, Zilina fell of inactivity, and Czechoslovakia was disbanded to join Austria. This left Zloty_Stok surrounded by Austria, without a nearby /n spawn. On 04.09 a report was made of ZS' small hollow claim south of the town made a day earlier, which was instantly claimblocked by Brno and Prague after deletion (which makes a weird shape on the map, and to this day is staying unused), with probable use of their national gold reserves.

After an official announcement on 2020.07.25 that hollow claims will be reportable in the future (which means they were legal previously, unlike claim arms which were always illegal), this case was reopened, as it may have been illegally unclaimed. However on 2020.12.03 the ticked was closed and the gold refunded, claims untouched.

Inactive times

Since Polish-Austrian War, more countries turned away from Poland causing worse conditions to invite more new players. Claim limit was reached, and since May the town is mostly the same shape. A functional-decorative wall has been built.

Current state

ZS on 2020.07.27. Slowly ongoing projects visible.
As of late July 2020, the town had 2 veteran mayors (Kieubasiarz, WarAndroid) and some random new players. WarAndroid left the town on 2020.09.01 to inherit Grunwald from Zuki19.

Only Kieubasiarz is still active and sometimes finishing some builds, redesigning or making roads. It's unknown if the town will be peaceful when war plugin arrives.

Buildings and places

  • Ratusz (old town hall) - built without previous designing on 2019.12.07. For a month served as a sign shop, before being moved closer to Prague. The height was planned to be a bit over the clouds, with a glowstone star on a polish-flag-colored spike. Inside of it, is a memorial sign with printed "Postawiono przez Kieubasiarza 2019.12.07" (Placed by Kieubasiarz). It was built on the 2 chunks that were claimed in the first day, centered on a mining well that's inside it and itself is a small roofed shed, built on the town creation day. It turned out a nearby ice road stub is at exact floor height, so a station was made near it.
  • Intertown Tower - an already existing building, which in half is claimed by Wroclaw, but was made a ZS embassy soon after for free. Redesigned to have a jail room inside it in case jails are enabled again. A statue was built on it on 2020.07.16, after first being designed on 2019.12.20, symbolizing a handwave with town's flag to Poland as the home country, from over Sudetes.
  • Hradec Square - named after realizing the location is exactly on real-life Hradec Králové. South of the old town area, a new approach to the town style, with more details and materials. Currently slowly progressing on random times when design ideas come, sometimes just floor by floor.
  • Auschwitz ruins - the only other town reclaimed by ZS. It was 1 chunk big and fell in December. As it is close to real-life Złoty Stok, a small building is planned.
  • Town Hall (abandoned) - 3x4 chunk bigger town hall to be used instead, with planned meeting rooms, beacons, spawners, farms and a custom town plot plan made of colored blocks. Started in February, abandoned and demolished in June.

Transportation

The town can be accessed by foot from nation spawns:

  • Austria - straight north.
  • Poland - somehow having crossed the wall, go south-west to noticeable Wroclaw, then south.
  • Deutschland - north-east through Pilsen and Prague.

National underground iceroads connect to an old station reclaimed by ZS, previously called Wałbrzych, so look for both names. Access possible to most polish towns.

It's connected by international overground ice roads, closest to Lechograd, although the roads are poorly maintained overall, possibly unusable anymore really.

Notable people

  • Kieubasiarz - created the town and sponsored most of its expansion.
  • WarAndroid - third resident of the town, stayed for a long time climbing in town roles. Veteran vice-mayor.

The town had also raised 3 future mayors:

  • IAmExec - first resident of the town while it still had 9 chunks. Made town Swidnica east of ZS and was a friendly neighbor until going inactive and his town falling.
  • iDarken - Made town New_Cricova and exchanged embassies together. Now owns Cricova in KingdomOfRomania.
  • Mathi456 - Not much known about him, but he made a town too and successfully recruited people for ZS.
