History

AZ-18 (Then called City 18) was founded on June 8th, 2023 by dzik32. The island was completely uninhabited by anyone until the arrival of dzik. Immediately upon creation, AZ-18 was integrated into SGSSI, as SGSSI had provided most of the building materials needed for The Citadel (most notably Starman8742 which mined a significant portion of deepslate for the build)

The Building of The Citadel

Plans for The Citadel started in early June 2023, almost instantly after the formation of AZ-18. It was meant to stretch from sea-level to the build limit, almost 200 blocks high. Official building of The Citadel started on the 8th of June, with original plans stating it would be made out of black and grey wool. However, the use of wool was scrapped after 1 day because of concerns with its price and flammability, therefore it was substituted with deepslate cobble and bricks.

Nearly 27,000 blocks of deepslate bricks alone were used for the build, with another 500 being minor materials, such as wood or wool. The entire building process took 8 days, with the final brick being laid on the 19th of June.

The renovation of The Citadel after The fall of AZ-18

After the Fall of AZ-18, The Citadel had minor damage caused to it, potentially by travellers trying to reach its top (as there was no official way to get to the top of The Citadel). dzik32 at first blamed Starman8742 for its damage, wrongly saying that Starman wanted to claim the island for himself, which was later revealed as untrue.
