The Great Australian War, also known as the 4th Pilbaro-Australian war, was a global conflict involving over 50 in-game nations, fought primarily in Australia and North America. It has been said to be the largest war in Aurora history. On one side of the war was Australia, including a few of its allies. On the other was a coalition formed between NA, Pilbara and their constituent sub-nations. The coalition was heavily backed by the OFN which joined the war after invoking their mutual defence clause on the 13th of October, as Pilbara and NA were part of the military alliance.
Background
Lead-up
After the 3rd Pilbaro-Australian war in June 2024, relations began to improve between the two nations. Although a rivalry still clearly existed, this period was one of peace and development for the entire continent. On the 24th of July 2024, the nation of NA was created by Gautomy and joined Australia as a province. About a month later, NA declared independence and left Australia on good terms, signing a non-aggression pact on the 29th of August. However, relations between the two nations began to deteriorate immediately. In the opinion of Gautomy, this was because of Australia’s alleged aggressive behaviour towards NA. On the other hand, the Australians claimed that Gautomy was trying to frame Australia as aggressive in order to start conflict. In the month of September, NA and Pilbara strengthened ties and had improved relations. On the 17th, Pilbara created the town of “Pooperpeddy” next to the Australian Capital, CooberPedy. This violated the Pilbaran-Australian peace treaty, but Australia, not wanting conflict, refrained from declaring war. Even so, the ties between Pilbara and NA, and the creation of pooperpeddy led to a rapid increase in hostility between Pilbara and Australia. Already, those living on the continent feared imminent war.
The Adelaide Declaration
On the 1st of October, Australia created the town of Paradisi 5 chunks from Ayr, which was in NA at the time, previously in Australia. NA viewed this as a hostile act, while Australia insisted that the town had no aggressive purpose, and that the creation of the town did not violate the NAP previously signed by the two nations. Australia then proceeded to purchase Ayr and the Pilbaran town of Ponta_do_sol. Gautomy was angered by this, and also labelled the purchases as hostile. Australia once again pointed out that the treaty had not been broken, and contained nothing about buying towns. Furthermore, Gautomy accused Australia of breaking the treaty by trying to sway a mayor in NA to their side. Firehawk722, who was a mayor in Australia, messaged a mayor in NA, suggesting that he should defect. The Australian government, extremely frustrated by this point, expressed that Firehawk722 did not represent Australia and was merely a mayor who could not be controlled.
Tensions increased dramatically after it was revealed that Gautomy himself had messaged some Australian mayors to join NA, even bribing them to do so. As well as this, Gautomy was paying members of the OFN Alliance 10g for each Australian they killed.[9] On the 4th, Pilbara and NA formed a coalition and sent a joint ultimatum to Australia, known as the Adelaide declaration,[8] demanding that Australia return the purchased towns and apologise for aggressive behaviour, threatening to declare war after 48 hours. While Australia wanted to avoid war at all costs, the towns were believed to have been purchased rightfully, and the government thought that if they gave NA and Pilbara what they wanted, it could lead to more potential unfair ultimatums or demands.
Australia thus ignored the ultimatum, and the NA-Pilbara Coalition (NPC) declared war on Australia on the 7th of October. In response, Australia released an official announcement claiming that the towns were rightfully purchased, and that it was Pilbara and NA who had acted hostile towards Australia in weeks preceding the declaration of war, with examples such as the creation of Pooperpeddy and Gautomy’s bribing of mayors.[7]
War had finally begun.
Major events
PvP battles were much more common in the beginning of the war[3,5]: after NA surrendered, Pilbara rarely engaged in PvP with Australia. Most PvP battles in the first couple months were won by the Australians.[3] This is believed to be due to NA's lack of PvPers & Pilbara's reluctance to fully engage in battle.

CooperPedy invasion
On October 20, 2024, the then-mayor/holder of the Australian town of Sunshine_Coast, HeyHeyHeyHeyHey, 42 day'd. When Pilbara discovered this, they decided to make a town on the now-unclaimed land. For this, they had Onslow Bay resident Wolftree47 create the town, naming it initially to Sunshine_Coast, identical to the old town name, however then renaming to Freepanthr. Pilbara then gathered a bunch of TNT, where they used the TNT to demolish the infrastructure built up on the land. After this, statues were made of Panth_r, GabeTheSavior, Wolftree47, and kobiKraft.
In early December, after being kicked about 3 weeks prior for his ill behavior, Wolftree's statue was demolished with TNT.
NA's surrender
On the 19th and 20th of October, the two biggest battles of the war on the continent were seen - The 2nd battle of Emberstone, & the battle of Esperance, both decisive victories for Australia. A day later, King Gautomy, realising that defeating Australia would not have been as easy as he previously thought, appointed ArshiaTK as leader and fled to North America with most of the nation's wealth.
ArshiaTK felt betrayed by Gautomy, and was forced to lead a now bankrupt nation. After a day, he handed his leadership position to Leyons & ZKS1, who almost immediately began negotiations with Australia.
On the 28th of October, NA surrendered, and Leyons & ZKS1 sold the capital to Australia for approximately 6000 gold.
This was a huge victory for Australia, and Pilbara, viewing NA's surrender as a result of incompetent and foolish leadership, continued fighting the war with the OFN's support.
Bairnsdale invasion
In early December of 2024, after their obtainment of Pilsy when VisualVenture was banned and as such 42 day'd, Knight2k8 and Woomy2k9 began rapidly expanding the land claims of Pilsy along the eastern Australian coast, eventually reaching Bairnsdale, the capital of the Pilbaran territory of Gippsland. From here, Pilsy began to overclaim it, beginning small however picking up more aggressively later on to the point where they had taken more of a third of Bairnsdale within about 2 weeks. After overclaiming more chunks, Pilsy reached Bairnsdale's Castle, with Swetmc doing to blow it up with TNT with Knight's agreement to avenge CooperPedy of its explosion by Pilbara. For fear of a greater destruction, Pilbara responsed to this by sending of SquishyTheFrog to overclaim into Bairnsdale as well with Melbourne. This expansion campaign has finally resulted in the annexation of more than half of Bairnsdale by Pilsy, and its incorporation into the nation of Australia with the disbanding of Gippsland by Woomy2k9.
Albury invasion
At the beginning of March, the town of Diez, located in southeastern Australia, began to overclaim Albury, having deactivated its shield and taken 24 chunks from it in the course of the day. This was a great victory for the Australians, who received tons of booty and managed to bring one of the largest Pilbaran cities in south-east Australia to its knees. They then blew it up in the same way as Pilbara had done for CooperPedy. This event was also the cause of the 2 biggest crashouts ever seen in this conflict, which made the whole of Australia laugh out loud.
2.1_ChangeName Invasion
During August, Pilbara removed a large part of their nation in the south-east of the continent. This cluster of towns then joined Australia, with some of their previous mayors leaving the continent. this left the town 2.1_ChangeName open for overclaim. a small portion was overclaimed by Development , which lead to the mayor at the time, Lakefish, to do a mass unclaim, leaving only a string of claims to mark where 2.1ChangeName once claimed. Along side this, the town of Bairnsdale was sniped, and the regional stronghold of Melbourne fell into Australian Hands.
