Weagamow, officially the Weagamow Confederation, is a country in the geographic Canadian region. It is centered in a swampy area south of the Western Hudson Bay. Its confederal capital is KalKash.
Etymology
The name comes from a lake and Canadian tribe in Western Ontario bearing the same name. The town of KalKash's location corresponds roughly to the lake.
History
The history of Weagamow can be traced back to the small town of KowKash, which was founded around 8 February 2024, achieving only three members at its height and having no intention of forming a sovereign nation. KowKash collapsed in late August 2024 due to player inactivity. One of its three members, CallMiiChad, eventually came back and saw that the town was in ruins. He made it an objective to bring the town back to life, an initiative that became referred to as the reinvigoration. He brought along ANAPHIKISTHEMAN, another former citizen of KowKash, and mizellland, an acquaintance unrelated to it. Together, they eventually reformed the town into the Town of KalKash, a misnomer for the former "KowKash", with CallMiiChad as leader. The goals for the future weren't clear, as it was a general consensus that the town should remain independent, but some didn't want to form a nation. The independent stance of the town was reaffirmed when the official name of the town was changed to the Free Town of KalKash. The town grew, and, acknowledging the benefits of national sovereignty and fearing the heightened threats from Cascadian expansionists, every one of its members began to support CallMiiChad's idea to form a new country. A new project of stockpiling gold was initiated to meet the 2,048G requirement for forming a nation.
Nationhood
Some wanted KalKashian primacy in the planned nation, but it was soon decided that any country formed from the town would need to be federalized or established as a confederation with equal representation for its member towns, this being viewed as the best governing method for the server. New members began joining the town rapidly around the turn of the new year from 2025 to 2026, allowing a boost to gold income by votes. The town expanded more to accommodate housing and future projects. By 24 February, the gold requirement was reached and plans were made for the ceremony to announce the creation of the Weagamow Confederation. A document was written that would proclaim the creation and to cite the goal of the new state: the full ability of its citizens to pursue and obtain happiness under the government. It was written by ANAPHIKISTHEMAN, who had since become mayor of KalKash on 25 January and thus would assume the leadership of the new nation. On 26 February, the document was read aloud by ANAPHIKISTHEMAN to those in attendance of the ceremony in an event known as the KalKash Proclamation. After the reading of it, the command was given to establish the nation on EarthMC, and ANAPHIKISTHEMAN then said that this would be followed by a "governmental construction period where [the leadership] will decide...the country's constitutional and legal framework as well as its policies." A provisional government was thus established and spearheaded by ANAPHIKISTHEMAN, CallMiiChad, and mizellland.
The constitution of the union began to be written on 3 March 2026, with its drafting being completed on 21 March.
