The Savoie War of Independence began on 21 January 2025.

Prelude

The war began when Venice announced on 21 January 2025 that Savoie had been acting independently, violating a previous agreement held between the two nations. Savoie had previously been a client state of Venice; however, new leadership in Savoie at the start of the month had set the two nations on a separate path. Savoie began seeking territorial claims in a filled Europe, leading to clashes between Savoie and France over control of towns held in southern France. France ultimately declared war on Savoie, and threatened war on Venice due to the client state status.

War is Declared

France appealed to the common good of Europe, and Europe responded. Germany and the Netherlands declared war on Savoie, while Savoie was blocked from Venetian resources as a result of their aggressive actions. The Organization of Free Nations condemned Savoie for their actions against France.
