Aurora:The Savoyard conflict
|
The Savoyard conflict is an international conflict of a coalition made of some Holy Roman Empire alliance members and its supporters, and Savoie. It started on 22 January 2025 after the Netherlands declared war.
History
Prelude
Actions of the leadership of Savoy on the European continent intensified after November 2024 when Thanamos took over the throne as he got unbanned from a half-year blockade for "inappriopriate behavior" rule breaking. These actions included sabotaging cities of main Savoie opponents, France and Poitou-Charentes, advising mayors to turn against France or Netherlands or similar. Savoie had occasionally been clashing against the Holy Roman Empire alliance members bordering Savoie, and continued despite warnings from some of their members and allies to cease.
Beginning
As a wave of denounciations began in early January 2025, the first nation to take action was the Netherlands. The Netherlands declared war on Savoie on 22 January 2025, explaining the act as a need to defend their ally France against Savoie. Later on, nations such as Finnmark, Germany and Skeena declared war in supportive case.
Savoie-Venice relations and continuation
On the same day, Venice kicked Savoie from its structure. Reasons of it have been detailedly explained in another article mentioned above. Genoa joined the conflict one day later for different reasons, for example them being in a hostile state in Savoie for a few months since then. As a wave of declarations and denouncations continued, the United Kingdom declared war for destabilising their territiorial integrity. Cascadia, Texas, Wollaston and Nunavik also declared war in a matter of 3 days to support anti-Savoyard belligerents.
International reactions
Since 2025, a few nations have expressed their opinions about the war:
- The Holy Roman Empire denounced Savoie. Savoie responded to the HRE with denouncation as well.
- The Netherlands denounced Savoie for attacking France, and 3 days later they declared war.
- The Organization of Free Nations denounced Savoie for being offensive towards their member, the Netherlands.
- The Kingdom of Lithuania and Nubia denounced Savoie.
