Denali is a nation on the EarthMC Aurora map located in interior Alaska. It was founded on December 30, 2024 by AloofJuice and 8set following a secession from Alaska. Denali rapidly developed into a regional power marked by military activism, political upheaval, and cultural independence.
Known for the Siege of ColorViler and the later Denali–NAU War, the nation’s influence reshaped northern Aurora’s political landscape. Despite periods of collapse and leadership bans, Denali survived through adaptive governance and a persistent sense of identity.
Etymology
The name "Denali" derives from the native Koyukon word for “the High One,” referencing Mount Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley), the tallest mountain in North America. The choice of name symbolized the founders’ desire for strength and elevation over turmoil in Alaska. The name also alludes to the Denali Borough, Denali Fault, and Denali National Park.
Geography
Denali occupied a central position in Alaska, bordered by the nations of Alaska to the east and Katmai to the south. Its capital, Ruby, was situated southwest of Fairbanks and became the industrial and administrative heart of the nation. Other key settlements—Bishop, Hooper_Bay, and GoldCorp—formed an early defensive triangle within Alaska’s heartland.
Foundation and Background
Denali’s birth was preceded by political tension within Alaska. In late 2024, debates arose over war against Katmai, and discontent spread among mayors who accused the Alaskan monarchy of negligence. Under the leadership of tuzzzie and Fruitloopins, Alaska’s democracy weakened, prompting defections.
On December 30, 2024, AloofJuice, then mayor of Ruby, declared independence alongside allied towns Bishop, GoldCorp, and Hooper_Bay. 8set assisted in nation design, diplomacy, and recruitment—his website (8set.xyz) documented the political rationale behind Denali’s creation.
Denali’s early success came from rapid urbanization: Ruby expanded by nearly 30% weekly, transforming into a major metropolitan center within a month. The new nation adopted a mixed oligarchic-monarchic structure with shared leadership between AloofJuice, 8set, and other senior mayors.
Expansion and Alaskan Reaction
Alaska’s leadership soon left on vacation, leaving the nation without central governance. During this period, Denali expanded rapidly, annexing Dawnstar, Manifest_Destiny, XiaoHongShu, and Alpine. This unopposed growth alarmed Alaska’s remaining mayors.
When Fruitloopins and tuzzzie returned, the two declared Denali’s actions treasonous and began expelling towns suspected of collaboration. Alaska’s attempt to reassert control only strengthened Denali’s unity. AloofJuice described the secession as “the natural rejection of a silent crown.”
The Banwave Crisis
The situation escalated into the Banwave Crisis, one of Aurora’s most controversial moderation incidents. Multiple Denali figures—including 8set, AloofJuice, StinkyAnson, DekuFullCowling, and 8boom—were banned for allegedly doxxing staff. The case centered on reports that items had been sent to tuzzzie’s real-life address, including a bottle of Baja Blast, bleach, and pizza.
Denali’s leadership was abruptly decapitated. BobsMarketLLC and StinkyAnson assumed emergency control, with Addychi01 (then mayor of Emerald) taking on a leading role in organizing resistance and recruitment. The bans sparked server-wide debate, with Texas and Mackenzie publicly supporting Denali’s claim of wrongful moderation.
The Emerald Period
With Ruby declining after the bans, the town of Emerald, created by Addychi01, became Denali’s industrial and political hub. Located between Teslin and Castle_John, Emerald was founded as Ruby’s “sister city.” It quickly gained population and wealth through gold mining and trade with Nubia and Talkeetna.
Emerald’s council included Whalemaro and code_tempesterss, both of whom later led Denali raids and built military infrastructure. Denali during this phase became known for tight organization, internal humor, and the characteristic green-themed urban design across its towns.
The Denali–Alaska Conflict
Hostilities between Alaska and Denali intensified following propaganda campaigns by Alaskan players Lexis_Nexis and Syeriss inside Denali’s Discord server. When tensions boiled over, Denali initiated a series of retaliatory raids—later chronicled as the Denali Siege of ColorViler.
The ColorViler Raids
- First Raid (May 10, 2025) – Organized psychological warfare led by Whalemaro, JimplayzMC, and Addychi01, later ambushed by hunter sima280.
- Second Raid – Reinforced by Hellhounds members ShirokoCutee and Joseph32332; killed Lexis_Nexis and displayed his shield at Talkeetna.
- Griefing Incident – Addychi01, Whalemaro, and FellowEsin dug a trench around ColorViler, later restored after warnings by moderator K1kimor.
- Third Raid – Culminated in the killing of Syeriss by Addychi01 and JimplayzMC, though the party lost several maxed armor sets and banners.
After the raids, Denali’s members were outlawed from multiple Alaskan towns, but the attacks cemented Denali’s military reputation.
Tripartite Leadership
Following the collapse of Ruby and departure of early leaders, Denali transitioned to a Tripartite Leadership shared between Addychi01, JimplayzMC, and kittyco106 (Taconyte). JimplayzMC was formally recognized as Denali’s Military Commander by 8set prior to the bans.
This period saw the creation of several new towns to reinforce Denali’s infrastructure:
- Emerald – Industrial hub and de facto capital.
- Azalea – Created by code_tempesterss; later surpassed Emerald in population.
- Sapphire – Granted to Whalemaro, later annexed by Alaska.
- The_Saller_Hills – Founded to fix the Yukon bridge network.
- Fort_Skarloey and Whitewater – Small settlements founded during Denali’s rebuilding.
Despite setbacks, the leadership successfully restored regional cohesion and began plotting the expansion of influence via the “McKinley Deal.”
The McKinley Deal
Denali sought to acquire the dormant nation of McKinley (formerly led by 8boom). SuperHappyBros, a moderator, controlled the nation and agreed to transfer it, but a miscommunication resulted in its capital’s deletion by a third-party holder. After intervention by GeorgieHawk108, the remnants of McKinley were renamed North_Alaska under kittyco106’s administration.
Though financially costly and politically chaotic, the McKinley episode reinforced Denali’s ambition to rebuild a federation in northern Alaska. The effort inspired the temporary reorganization known as the “Bering Sea Confederation.”
The Denali–NAU War
In July 2025, Denali defended its ally Bering Sea in the Denali–NAU War. The conflict began when MakRouss of the United States declared war following prior hunting disputes with JimplayzMC. Addychi01 declared Denali’s entry into the war, calling Bering Sea a “protectorate under Denali’s shield.”

- MakRouss and Hashbrown_922 led counter-operations, poaching several Denali towns.

Though Denali suffered substantial losses, its leadership persisted in maintaining independence and defending its ideology.

Addychi01 managed foreign affairs and infrastructure; JimplayzMC directed military matters; and kittyco106 oversaw transport and town logistics.
