Chicago is the largest and one of the most populated cities on Terra Nostra. Located on the western shore of Lake Michigan, it is the largest city by area in the world with a size of 1,501 chunks. The city spans from southern Wisconsin to northwestern Indiana, claiming the entire coast of Illinois and much of Lake Michigan. It borders Milwaukee to the north and Israel to the south.
Chicago was founded 92 minutes after the opening of Terra Nostra on April 17, 2026 at 12:32 PM CST by kountr, known as one of the most benevolent and considerate players on EarthMC.
History
Chicago was founded on April 17, 2026 by kountr, who spawned in North America, on behalf of Setrus who spawned in Asia. This favor is considered very consequential as it quickly put Chicago in the hands of the founders behind the Commonwealth of America, who were eventually able to use the town to quickly establish Detroit, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and more. In return, Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, was initially created by Setrus on behalf of kountr.
Soon after founding, Chicago served as the main hub of America providing access to farms, storage, and eventually a considerable portion of gold for the founding of America two days later on April 19. Between the early days of America and the publicization of Terra Nostra on May 1st, Chicago expanded at a steadfast rate keeping up as one of the largest towns in North America.
Summer 2026
Chicago experienced its greatest growth between May and August hitting its first 100 residents by June 22nd, first 200 residents by July 15th, and first 300 residents on August 1st. On June 8th Chicago officially hit 1000 chunks, on July 17th Chicago reached 1,432 chunks becoming the largest town in the world by a margin of 63 chunks and reaching 1,501 chunks on July 26th where it stands today.
Throughout this timeframe Chicago also experienced the construction of several streets, buildings, and parks. Between June 18th and June 19th Grant Park was constructed and became the hub and town spawn of Chicago. The first skyscraper in Chicago, the Big Red, was constructed on June 15th. The Metropolitan Tower, CNA Plaza North, Richelieu Flats, Blackstone Hotel, The Aon Center, University Club of Chicago, The Gage, The Daley Center & Plaza, and Dearborn Park were also all constructed in this timeframe.
Government
The city consists of one ward governed by the City Council of Chicago with 5 allocated seats. The first city election occurred on August 8th, 2026.
