Jefferson

Jefferson is a nation in West America on EarthMC Terra Aurora. It was founded on January 22nd, 2023, originally named San Joaquin after the San Joaquin Valley of California where Fresno is geographically located. Prior to the creation of the nation, its capital Fresno was a town in the nation of California. Fresno is where the first skyscraper in all of the Western Hemisphere of EMC was built. At the town's height, It reached 134 residents, which was on July of 2022. Jefferson has 24 towns and is the largest of the 5 California nations.

Jefferson is divided into 4 main Regions:

Central California Metroplex

(10 towns)

- The vast majority of Jefferson's population lives in one of the 8 towns in the Central California Metroplex. The largest city is Fresno, with most other towns in the region being neighborhoods, suburbs, or exurbs of it that each share a border with the main city. As the name of the region states, this metropolis is located in Central California which is where Jefferson started as a nation.

Redwood Coast

(4 towns)

- The Redwood Coast consists of the largest Jefferson town, Pacifica, with the denser Lost Coast directly south of it, and Hill Valley in between it and the Mediterranean-styled Passage Bay. All towns in the region share a common biome of forest. This region IRL is the last place in the world where the tallest trees, the Redwoods, can be found.

Modoc

- The Modoc consists of 7 towns, all located in the interior of the continent. Varying from forested mountain towns like Lassen, arid oasis towns like Pyramid Lake, or industrial factory towns like Umatilla County, the Modoc towns all share a common culture of ruggedness and ruralness (except Dummeldorp).

Far North

(2 towns)

- The Far North region is just the towns of Hakai Lodge and Mazama, which are the northernmost towns in Jefferson, located so far north they reach deep into Canada. These two towns are both green and forested. They both offer unique atmospheres and styles compared to most towns on EMC, with Hakai being a town on piers and Mazama being a town of immense architectural order.

San Jose

Founded: May 14, 2022

- San Jose is the only geographically Southern Californian town in Jefferson. The city contains mostly Savanah and desert biomes. Its the oldest city in Jefferson, with a couple of historic sites and the largest roads in the nation. It's also where Highway 99 ends, which starts all the way north in Seattle (Central Cascadia).

Fresno

Founded: May 16, 2022

- Fresno is the capital and largest city in Jefferson. Being our most densely populated town, Fresno is the only city with skyscrapers in the nation. It's home to a wide variety of architectural styles and many different neighborhoods, which add up to make it the largest town in Jefferson by both area and population.

Pacifica

Founded: October 9, 2022

- Pacifica is a picturesque seaside town located in the Southern half of the Oregon Coast down to the Northern tip of California. The town is full of many cozy and humble oceanic cabins that give visitors a more relaxed atmosphere when compared to other large cities. Pacifica is the largest town in Jefferson by area, and contains 2 abandoned towns within its borders, with one being a massive castle spanning dozens of chunks in size.

Lost Coast

Founded: Jan. 3, 2023

- Lost Coast is the oldest city in California's Far North and the 2nd largest city in Jefferson by area. Most of the town is protected forest land, which allows it to have the largest preserved coastal forests in all of the lower 48 states. Lost Coast uniquely integrates half-roofs and lanterns with much of its buildings. It has a bear-shaped lake inspired by the bear on the flag of California. Lost Coast is located where 2 old towns once were, which leave the city with many historic artifacts.

Bradley

Founded: Feb. 28, 2023

- Bradley is a modern city located in the savannahs of Central California. It's home to one of the only villager trading halls in Jefferson, as well as the nation's largest PVP arena.

Visalia

Founded: Mar. 2, 2023

- Visalia is located in both the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the San Joaquin Valley. Visalia stands out from almost any other town on the server because It's made almost exclusively from Deepslate-based blocks. This gives the town a very dark and gothic look. It's primarily residential and many of its homes are on mountains, overlooking the city's park which lies in the center.

Passage Bay

Founded: Mar. 19, 2023

- Passage Bay is located in IRL wine country California. Consisting of a primarily Savanah landscape, the town enjoys warm and pleasant weather considering how far north in California it is. Passage Bay is built mostly of brick and sandstone, which gives it a distinctly Mediterranean look and feel.

Azure Bay

Founded: May 1, 2023

- Azure Bay is a beach town located just west of Fresno. The town lies on a warm savannah biome and has many modern buildings and homes surrounding its main beach, where a large statue of the late Technoblade is located. The town is also home to Jefferson's largest mall, where one of the city's many canals surrounds it.

Mazama

Founded: April 4, 2023

- Mazama is Jefferson's only town in mainland Canada, and it's located directly south of the End-inspired nation, Omineca. Mazama's architecture is very uniform and grey, offering a more refreshing tone in contrast to more colorful towns. Mazama's city layout is master-planned and has four main roads diverging from the city center towards each cardinal direction.

Pyramid Lake

Founded: Mar. 22, 2023

- As the name suggests, Pyramid Lake is a village that surrounds Nevada's largest lake, which the town is named after. The town is a small and cozy oasis in a very large desert. For being such a small town, Pyramid Lake has many local businesses such as the Pyramid Credit Union, Pyramid Organics, the Lakeside Inn, and PL Mining Co.

Clovis

Founded: Apr. 17, 2023

- Clovis is a small, primarily agricultural town located between Fresno and Visalia.

Madera

Founded: Apr. 18, 2023

- Madera is a small city north of Fresno that has much to offer. The western part of town is in the San Joaquin Valley, the central part is in savannah, and the eastern part is directly on the Sierra Nevada mountains. It's surrounded by forests and grasslands, with vines lining many of its buildings. It also has one of Jefferson's best government buildings, the Madera City Hall.

Mammoth

Founded: Jun. 20, 2023

- Founded off the ruble of the fallen Carson_City, Mammoth is a historic city on the edge of the towering Sierra Nevadas. The town stretches from deep in the mountains to out in the high desert where one of California's few lakes on EMC, "Mono" can be found.

Hakai Lodge

Founded: May 12, 2023

- Located off the coast of an isolated British Columbia island, Hakai Lodge is the most remote town in Jefferson, having to change Its town spawn just to reach the maximum distance allowed for towns to join a nation. The town has two main parts, one on the island and another on the ocean. The island part is dotted with small cabins, fitting for the surrounding forests, while the ocean part stands on logs and has a canal running through the buildings.

Hakai Lodge

Founded: May 25, 2023

- Umatilla County is a very historic town. Surrounded by dense green forests on three sides and an arid high desert to the south, Umatilla is located in the heart of Eastern Oregon. The town is very historic and was at one point one of the region's largest. After falling into ruin, the uniquely industrial city was gravely demolished. In recent months however, restoration efforts have healed to city to its former shape.

Dummeldorp

Founded: July 1, 2023

- On the Northern end of the Sierra Nevada Mountain ranges is Dummeldorp, one of Jefferson's prettiest towns with architecture inspired by IRL Poland and the Netherlands. Dummeldorp is home to Jefferon's main Cathedral, which is built diagonally.

Hill Valley

Founded: Jun. 5, 2023

- Hill Valley is located in the forests of coastal Northern California. It is a city built from ruins, as before the present-day Hill Valley there existed a town there by the same name and same mayor. The most prominent building in town is its large brick City Hall.

Monterey Bay

Founded: Jun. 14, 2023

- Monterey Bay is located entirely on the Pacific Ocean and is completely surrounded by glass.

Fort Elko

Founded: Jun. 15, 2023

- Fort Elko is an isolated town in the middle of the Northern Nevada desert. It was originally founded as an outpost for Lost Coast but has since become an outpost for the nation as a whole. Fort Elko is a primarily military town, with a tall outpost tower in the center, but has recently grown to become more residential.

Meadow Valley

Founded: June 24, 2023

- Meadow Valley is located directly west of Lake Tahoe in the forested Sierra Nevadas. This town has been demolished and rebuilt 2 times, with its current appearance hosting Jefferson's Subway restaurant and plenty of open green spaces with random machinery and altars scattered throughout.

Lassen

Founded: Jul. 6, 2023

- Lassen is located on the foothills of the snowy Mt Shasta, the most prominent peak in California. Covered in dense green forests, Lassen is a small town with beautiful spruce cabins and lodges, with a rural-ranch feel.

Stockton

Founded: Jul. 18, 2023

- Stockton is located on the northernmost end of the Central California Metroplex and is close to the ruins of the fallen town of Yosemite. A creek runs through the middle of town which adds to the natural feel of the area.

Yosemite

Founded: Jul. 20, 2023

- Yosemite is located in the center of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It's an entirely underground town, with Its aboveground covered in dense forests.

Auburn

Founded: Jul. 21, 2023

- In the forests of Northern California is the small city of Auburn. Surrounded by lush forests and on top of very high mountains, Auburn was created almost immediately after the old Auburn town collapsed, which gives the city plenty of history.

Government

Jefferson is a (benevolent) Autocracy led by The_Forest. The appointed Cabinet and Senate make up the Central Government of Jefferson at Fresno. The leader of Jefferson serves for life unless they resign/appoint someone else. Despite the undemocratic-ness, 100% of Jefferson residents strongly approve of their government.

Economic System

Jefferson's economy is Communist by default due to the fact that all workers own the means of their production as they sell what they make and work for themselves rather than a corporation. Individual towns have slightly varying systems, with the indigent Fresno, for example, being predominantly Marxist-Stateist, and the wealthy Azure Bay being predominantly Market-Capitalist. Stateism and Marxism is more popular in the destitute towns of the interior Modoc, whereas capitalism with Californian characteristics is more popular in the Coastal towns.

Alliances

- The day after being formed as a nation, on January 22, 2023, Jefferson joined the California Empire. - Due to inactivity in California, Jefferson left the California Empire and joined the Mexican Empire on April 8, 2023 - During California's revival, Jefferson decided to leave the Mexican Empire and rejoin the California Empire on May 13th, 2023 - After the founder of Jefferson resigned and left the nation to his co-founder, Jefferson left the Mexican Empire for the Venezuelan Union on June 14, 2023 - After the at-the-time leader of Jefferson sold the nation to a Bavarian Colonist, the nation left the Venezuelan Union and briefly joined the Bavarian Empire on June 19th, 2023 - After being purchased back, Jefferson left the Bavarian Empire and instead re-joined the Mexican Empire on June 30, 2023 - On July 4th, Jefferson signed 2 separate alliances with Nevada and Norcallia - Jefferson and Basin form the Sequoia Federation on July 28, 2023 - California, Norcallia, and South_California join Sequoia on August 10, uniting all the California nations under one meganation.

Wars

On June 25th, 2023 the leaders of the Rocky Mountain Federation declared war on Jefferson after it was bought back due to personal drama it had with the new leader. The leader of UMC declared war the same day to show support for RMF. On July 5, 2023, both RMF and UMC revoked their declarations after Jefferson and RMF made peace. There were 0 deaths or casualties due to this 10-day war, which was Jefferson's only war.

History

Jefferson was created on 22 January 2023 founded by x________ and co-founded by Bestfriends0174. Originally called San_Joaquin, (taken from the name of the California valley Fresno is in), the nation immediately joined the California meganation as a province upon creation. On 8th April 2023, San_Joaquin decided to leave California and join the Mexican empire because of inactivity throughout California, but on 14 May 2023 as LA started to recruit and California became active again so San_Joaquin left Mexico and rejoined California. On 12 June 2023, x________ resigned from his position as leader due to controversies. SSLChampion became the leader and on that same day San_Joaquin left California and joined Venezuela. On June 20 2023, SSLChampion sold the nation for 5,000 gold to HDKONUK against the wishes of many in the nation. LimixLimix held San_Joaquin for HDKONUK. All residents with trust and a rank were kicked out of Fresno and had all their things stolen. On June 26 2023, 42Forest who is a former resident of Fresno before San_Joaquin was created, rebought the nation from HDKONUK/LimixLimix, adding the kicked-out residents back into Fresno and giving them back their plots. 42Forest is also a former Cascadian mayor and RMF (Rocky Mountain Federation) and its allies (UMC, Nights Templar, Arctic) declared war on San_Joaquin because of 42Forest becoming leader. No one died in the war, only a failed attack at Lost_Coast where no one died, only RMF hunters came and tried to lure residents out into the wilderness. On the 1st of July 2023, San_Joaquin rejoined Mexico and after that on July 4 2023 42Forest renamed the nation from San_Joaquin to Jefferson. On July 6 2023 the war with RMF ended thanks to the help of California. Jefferson left the Mexican Empire on July 23 2023 and remained independent for 5 days until it formed the Western Democratic Union with Basin on July 28 2023. On August 10, the meganation renamed to the Sequoaia Federation and added the nations Norcallia and California, and South_California (South_California joined a day later).
