Aurora:TerraCorp
TerraCorp NSDQ:$TRCP. Is a state within the United States. Formerly a unincorporated community in the state of Michigan, it occupies today a region in former state land of Ohio, Nova:Indiana, and Aurora:Michigan territories. It spans both Lake Erie and Lake Michigan, effectively giving it both access to the Atlantic ocean and Lake Michigan. TerraCorp governs the Atlantic-Chicago Canalway, which cuts needed boat time to access Chicago, effectively drying up the need for boats to go around Detroit and the whole of the Michigan peninsula. This made TerraCorp a popular proposition for real estate developers and politicians in Chicago. TerraCorp is recognized internationally as a corporate capitalist dystopia. Its government has committed multiple emissions violations in direct opposition to several international communities. TerraCorp amounts today to more than 30% of the United States coal production. Large swaths of the TerraCorp area is dedicated to mineral exploitation quarries. It plans to do this through the use of redstone drilling machines.
History
TerraCorp started out as a incorporated community in the heartlands behind Toledo, Ohio. It soon grew into a small suburban community with a few homes. After a while, a large hedgefund from New York would come and buy up large swaths of the farmland behind Toledo, and start to construct large holes and flatland out of nowhere. The TerraCorp Corporation wanted to break away from the state of Michigan after it had lobbied several city politicians to construct a canal way to the coast of Lake Erie. Powerful Detroit politicians saw this as a opportunity to revitalize the urban decay of the Detroit area which had all been prior urban wastelands. By giving the area a canal it would look for a opportunity to develop the southern suburbs into a liveable place. However this did not happen, as the Corporation had other plans. After the Corporation had bought up the majority of the land around Detroit, it seceded from the state and recognized itself as a state of the United States.
Governance
TerraCorp is governed by the TerraCorp Corporation, which is a hedge fund based out of New York City. TerraCorp assumes authority of all the state departments. These departments include the Department of Zonal Security Enforcement, Department of Corrections, Department of Public Works & Canalways. Department of Resource Management, Department of Production, Trade & Exchange Commission (headed by Jamzery)and Department of Employment & Housing. TerraCorp also includes the Corporate Security Bureau, which offectively is the corporation's central intelligence agency. The CSB effectively acts as a federal police agency that deals in extortions and espionage. CSB often finance hitmen to control politican opponents and witnesses in court.
Slum Zone
The slum zone is a dedicated land area that occupies the former Detroit suburban metropolitian area. It is a special dwelling district where there is free reign of the TerraCorp residents to live as they please. The area has no authority or district government reigning over it, leading to a complete disregard of standards and public investment. The area consists of farmers and shopkeepers that own a larger portion of the land in the slum zone. Shacks, plank sheds and sometimes roofless houses, occupy this previously desolate urban decayed landscape. In the beginnings of the slum, the area would still have a lot of abandoned buildings and destroy road connections. It has since been patched up by its residents and all the abandoned buildings have been cleared. There has been a effort in recent years to revitalize the slum zone, which has led to further investment into the Atlantic-Chicago Canalway connection. Those canalways are still under construction as of today.
That being said, the area is still a very high crime area, with the area being known for having one of the most dangerous wildernesses around it, with sneak hitmen on several corners. Players have been murdered several times from hiding criminals in the forests and have been trying to get the state involved.
