Story:

It was a warm day near Mount Thor, snow didn’t exist, nor ice. The arctic circle never had snow, no one knew what snow was. Then hours later it started to rain very heavy rain. Temperatures went down, no one knew what was going on. The arctic reached temperatures down to 35 degrees fahrenheit, which was a record for the arctic. A few days later, golf ball sized hail started to fall from the sky, everyone was becoming very confused because of this phenomenon. Then, one hour later, temperatures dropped down to -25 degrees fahrenheit. How did the temperature go down so fast? No one knew. Snow starting to fall immediately, and the snow would not stop. The small civilization thought that the world was ending, but it wasn’t. A few days later, and the snow still hasn’t stopped. The snow was 8 feet deep, and on top of a mountain, slowly formed a snow golem. The snow golem formed day by day, until it reached its final form, on the 8th day. The small civilization were scared of this creature, but the snow golem had something to show the civilization. The snow golem slid down the mountain and reached the small town. The snow golem lead the whole entire ancient civilization up the mountain, and once they reached the top of the mountain, they saw what they thought was heaven. It was no heaven, it was the beautiful snowy and icy arctic. A day later, the snow golem wasn’t found. The snow golem had seemed to disappear. Years later, the civilization had also disappeared. The legend still lives on, and newer arctic towns and even non-arctic towns worship the nature of snow and ice. Then it has slowly turned into a religion, called Golemism. To this day, the mountain that the snow golem was made on, is called Mount Thor, in Pangnirtung.
