The American Civil War (Turkish: Amerikan İç Savaşı), also known as the American-USA War in the USA, was a conflict between the Commonwealth of America and the USA that took place in North America from June 26th, 2026 to August 2nd, 2026. Stemming from an internal conflict over the city of Delaware scamming and trapping several players, Delaware was ejected from the Commonwealth, going on to form the USA, and all-out war eventually began several days later after repeated skirmishes and claimblockings.

The war was primarily fought through trapping, spying, and the use of propaganda, however several battles took place in cities across the continent such as Vither State and Philadelphia.

Names

The American Civil War was first referred to as such on June 29th, 2026, by player kobiKraft, who said "american civil war??" in the mist of an argument between Conleft and several American players[1], however the concept was also jokingly discussed much earlier around the 13th and 14th[2][3]. In the USA, it was referred to as the American-USA War, and was once incorrectly called the "1th pihladelphia war" [sic] by Conleft himself while saying he would write an article about it on the EarthMC Wiki[4].

Background

The city of Delaware was founded on May 16th, 2026, about a month after the server was first released to beta testers and 16 days after its official release. Due to the Turkish invasion of EarthMC, the city had a significant Turkish population, causing a cultural and linguistic divide that may have contributed to the outbreak of war.

In the days leading to the war, the residents of Delaware reportedly began scamming and trapping both foreigners, American-allied traders, and American citizens out of their gear and mayoral statuses. While scamming and trapping of foreigners and new players around this time was not an explicit taboo, being often seen globally as a "skill issue" on the victim's behalf, the scamming of American citizens and the country's trade partners drew significant anger from the rest of the country, and fears arose that these incidents would destroy America's international reputation. Therefore, the Commonwealth of America's House of Representatives voted to expel the city of Delaware from the country. The text of the resolution states:

"Context: Delaware has had a history of scamming and trapping americans with a court case popping up as a result. Recently they have scammed and trapped a panamanian under the impression that they were buying items from Delaware which lines up with a tactic they have used in the past on Americans. While it is not illegal to scam and trap foreigners, when combined with their past in scamming and trapping Americans, this is obviously reckless and is sinking the reputation of America" ― A Resolution to kick the town of Delaware for scamming and trapping

Timeline

Independence of the USA and initial skirmishes

Delaware, now a nationless town, declared itself an independent state, officially as the United States of America, but often shortened both in-game and colloquially to just USA in order to distinguish itself from countries like the United States Empire. In its declaration of independence, it accused "neighboring countries" of attempting to pressure and restrict them, before declaring themselves the "true owners of America", attempting to purchase the nearby town of St. Willis and later purchasing Baltimore.

The first skirmishes and claimblockings of the war took place on June 28th when the USA established the town of Pennsylvania in order to prevent further expansion of the city of Philadelphia. Notable casualties during this period include Conleft, who was killed for the first time in the war by Flippizzacake[5], and even Flippizzacake himself, who was spleefed during a gathering between multiple Delawarians. For killing Conleft despite an extreme disadvantage armor-wise, Flippizzacake was later awarded the Hero of the Commonwealth Medal on June 30th. Notorious Delawarian spy Zombot3000, who later served a significant role in the war, was also killed multiple times in this battle by players such as Night_Depressed, a St. Willis resident, and Rustymach56 from Terravix[6][7].

On June 29th, 2 people bombed a building in St Willis called the "EMC World Trade Center." The identities of the people who bombed the building are still in dispute, as thearbysworker claims the mods told him it was ScFish15, but ScFish15 repeatedly denied those claims, which created a major argument between the two which eventually led to the selling of Baltimore to USA from ScFish15 for over 3000 gold.

July

To much debate in the Commonwealth's House of Representatives, a resolution was drafted to declare war against the USA, but it was afterwards withdrawn out of concern that the declaration would recognize the USA as a distinct independent nation rather than a rebelling region. Nevertheless, the war continued.

On July 3rd, a USA spy called NoahVance made the town of Neo_Jersey in southern New Jersey. Due to him being in America, NoahVance was able to claim dozens of chunks in southern New Jersey, claimblocking several New Jersey towns.

On July 11th, America and USA officially ended the war in the Treaty of Philadelphia, which demanded that the USA revoke their claim to all of America, and forbidding their expansion beyond a specific line[8]. However, despite the war's official conclusion, hostilities continued, with both sides claiming the other was not upholding their part of the treaty. Therefore, the war is considered by most to continue beyond this point, and the Treaty of Philadelphia itself a failed treaty.

Later that month, despite the Treaty of Philadelphia, the USA committed a terrorist attack against the city of St. Willis, America, on July 29th, the second of which to take place throughout the war...the first being the attack against the EMC World Trade Center. The attack was carried out when HasanHasa infiltrated St. Willis disguising as a new player nicknamed "Jeopardy", and promptly abused the town's lenient building permissions to explode the inner urban regions with TNT minecarts. This attack was promptly rolled back by moderation in the same day.

Battle of Vither State

On July 31st, a battle began at the town of Vither State, a town owned by the USA and created by Zombot3000. This battle is often considered the only "true" battle of the American Civil War, and is described as such at a monument to the war since erected in the town. America, with a force of 6, not including later arrivals, attacked an equally sized force that was defending the town. American HibachiBeamz killed Conleft and Zombot3000, and Flippizzacake killed HasanHasa, while Teukris, a Delawarian, killed American soldier VreikOG towards the end of the battle[9]. Many other less-PVP oriented Americans were also killed during the battle by Delawarian traps[10].

Upon the death of HasanHasa and Conleft, Zombot3000, one of the last surviving commanders, issued a "broken arrow" order in chat, and retreated, however by this time HibachiBeamz and Flippizzacake also began retreating, having fulfilled their mission of a hit-and-run attack. The hit-and-run nature of this battle makes it somewhat hard to define a victor, especially with both sides claiming victory, however for the purpose of this article it will be defined as an American victory due to the death of three Delawarian leaders and the USA's abandonment of the city towards the end.

The battle was afterwards followed by a longer Vither Campaign that lasted into August, during which the player Windows7Home32 killed Zombot3000 without using a weapon, something that was subsequently the subject of much propaganda, and during which American TheLegoMovieMan killed Delawarian GodOfPotato4ever twice[11][12]. This was the de facto end of the war.

Aftermath

After the Treaty of Philadelphia and the Battle of Vither State, much of the USA's playerbase quit, and HasanHasa later sold the USA to America...something that his former comrade Zombot3000 declared him a traitor for. An American ally, 4KayP7, was place in charge of the USA by America after buying the country, and since then it has gradually been reintegrating into America by the purchase of cities. In the near future, the USA is likely to be completely annexed, despite the original intentions of 4KayP7 to preserve the country, however as of this current moment it still exists mostly as a rump city-state in DC (formerly Delaware).

Tactics

Trapping

While America used a more traditional approach of warfare against the USA, the USA made heavy use of trapping and killing players throughout the war as a method of defense, something that Delawarians were experienced in through their early history, and ultimately one of the root causes of the conflict.

Use of propaganda

The USA highly utilized domestic propaganda throughout the conflict, with common talking points including American terrorism and alleged racism towards the country's primarily Turkish population. They have also often been accused by America of falsely claiming victories over lost battles and deliberately inflating casualty numbers[18][19]. American propaganda, meanwhile, mainly attacked the leadership of the USA themselves, alongside citing the attacks against St. Willis and the causes of the war as proof of Delawarian unsportsmanship and immortality.
