Astoria, officially the City of Astoria, and historically known as Oceanside, is the county seat of Oregon County, the most populous city in Metropolitan Cascadia, and one of the most populated and culturally significant cities in Cascadia. Spanning along the northern Oregon Coast and including newer inland annexations and developments, it is one of Cascadia's most historically important, culturally significant, and presently influential cities, playing an outsized role in politics and history in both the past and present of Cascadia. The city is governed by the mayor of Astoria, currently RIP1C, and the Astoria City Council, consisting of 7 members and the mayor.
The area now known as Astoria was first settled by the Oregonian people. Ryzenix was a founding member of the Oregon Empire who established the town of Astoria on May 14, 2022, the same day as the other historic imperial towns of Portland and the imperial capital of Salem. Eugene, which would fall into ruin after just two months, would be founded by NestBird as a town of the Oregon Empire on June 2nd, and Milgorn123, fleeing political persecution from the Crown of Texas, founded the town of Oceanside in between Astoria and Eugene on August 4th. Ryzenix's Astoria, which also settled across the Columbia River, would engage in a claim-battle in July with the newly-founded Cascadian capital city of Olympia over the region now known as the Riverway in Southeast Downtown Olympia. This battle led to Astoria holding possession of a region of land terminating at what is now the intersection of Loowit Ave and S. Washington Street in Downtown Olympia. In early September 2022, Ryzenix was banned from EarthMC, and the town of Astoria would fall into ruin, leading the increasingly metropolitan city of Oceanside under Milgorn123's leadership to annex the territory of the former city of Astoria up to the Columbia River, with the Cascadian capital of Olympia annexing the former city's territory north of the river. Oceanside would go on to play a pivotal role in the Six-Hour War, being the catalyst for Oregon's defeat by seceding from Oregon amidst the conflict and being incorporated into the Republic of Cascadia. In the several months following Oceanside's incorporation into Cascadia, Milgorn123 would move to the Columbia Plateau, instigating a series of mayoral transitions from Milgorn123 to RealLimpopo and later to Moxicodone.
Under Moxicodone's mayoralty, substantial urban renovations were initiated in the northern part of the city. However, due to personal conflicts involving Milgorn123, Moxie declared the town dissolved, leading to the naval invasion by the rebel organization known as the Rocky Mountain Federation (RMF), culminating in the Battle of Oceanside. The RMF occupied most of the northern half of the city as what would be known as Walla Walla, after the original name of the capital of the Oregonian grand duchy of Washington that had since been renamed to Kennewick. It was known by the Cascadian government during this period as the Oceanside Occupation Zone, and was administered on the part of the RMF by former Emperor of Oregon Pico. The city of Oceanside remaining under Cascadian control, now led by new mayor Paradox_1080, was greatly diminished, only controlling the southern half of the city. The city of Seaside was also established in what was formerly the northeastern part of the city, along the Columbia River. The occupation period, which lasted throughout July and August 2023, led to a dramatic stagnation and reduction of Oceanside's population, size, and cultural/political influence.
The occupation came to an end in late August 2023, as a result of the defeat of the First Rocky Mountain Rebellion. The area that was under occupation became the new city of Prythian, with retired Supreme Court Justice Aurivia becoming mayor. The city remained incredibly stagnant, with the region seeing its lowest population in its history, totaling only 3 between South Oceanside, Prythian, and Seaside. Aurivia would later betray Cascadia as part of the Osoyoosan Exodus, yet unlike an overwhelming majority of the Osoyoos exodus, Aurivia would not leave the continent, instead seceding Prythian from Cascadia, oncemore placing what is now northern Astoria under foreign occupation. The second occupation would conclude in November 2023, with Cascadian scajamarsh taking control of Prythian from Aurivia, reincorporating it into Cascadia, and annexing the rump city of Oceanside in the south to become the city of Copper and, with the exception of Seaside, restoring the original borders of Oceanside.
The city of Copper would demolish all buildings in Oceanside, rolling back the town to entirely forest, devoid of buildings, and declaring it a nature reserve. Seaside would later be taken over and occupied by the Wagner Group during the Wagner War, and renamed to Wagner. In June 2024, Setrus, who started his life on EarthMC in historic Oceanside, moved to Copper and became mayor, renaming the town back to Oceanside, and in late 2024, to the modern name of Astoria. Setrus served as mayor of Astoria until July 29, 2025, when he retired from his position and handed the mayoralty to Flippizzacake, an Astoria native citizen and House representative for the Metropolitan constituency. In August 2025, upon initiative of House representative RIP1C, a resident of Astoria, the city adopted its modern City Council government system, taking inspiration from an earlier April proposal by then-mayor Setrus.
Today, Astoria is characterized by largescale developments in Southeast Astoria, a region consisting of territory formerly part of the historic Oregonian village of Eugene, the later Cascadian city of Newport, and rural Oregon County. It serves a regional and political hub, holding a prominent role in the political and social landscape of Cascadia, reflecting its significance as a population center along the northern Oregon Coast.
Government and politics
Astoria has a mayor-council system, with an executive mayor, currently RIP1C, and a city council, serving as a body with both legislative and executive functions. Astoria is the county seat of Oregon County, and is represented on the Oregon County Board of Commissioners by mayor RIP1C, and by at-large commissioner TomasSMP. For elections to the national legislature, Astoria is apart of the Metropolitan constituency alongside neighboring cities such as Olympia, Seattle, Victoria, Portland, and Vancouver. It is currently represented in the House by Flippizzacake, RIP1C, GuyWithALife, and KayP7, who also currently serves as Speaker.

To this day, Astoria is an active and bustling city, with a division of Paleo's Lava Chicken, and two Cozy Paws Pet Rescue branches (OGB and DTB).
