The Royal Indochinese Navy or RIN is Indochina's official naval warfare force. It was established on 30 December 2019 and then was modernized in 2021 with the addition of new warships. The RIN headquarters is planned to be built at Chumphon Naval Base.
History
Origin
The Royal Indochinese Navy was founded in December 2019 (originally as the Royal Siamese Army) during the Siamese-Vietnamese War after the construction of the frigate, HTMS Saiburi (HIMS Saiburi). The ship was then joined by another frigate, HTMS Kraburi (HIMS Kraburi).
Unification of Indochina
After the unification of Indochina in July 2020, the navy was re-branded to be Indochinese instead of Siamese; thus all prefixes of ships were changed from HTMS to HIMS.
