Beliefs

Gods

The gods of Sandism are Cyrus, The god of light, sun, and gifts. And Mah the god of the dark, night, and forgiveness. There are also church gods. Church gods are past Sand Priests. When a Sand Priest plans to go inactive (Death for the sandists) Cyrus bakes a cake for them when they arrive and Mah sweeps his room. When the church god goes inactive he meets up with the gods and they bring them up into the heavens. The job of a church god is to bring people through the afterlife trails and into the heaven.

The Entrance to the heavens by FinneyMeBoi

Afterlife

When a member of the church goes inactive they are met at the church at their inactive ceremony by that churches church god. When they have left the earth they reach the heavens where they must go through the afterlife trials. When a person reaches the heavens they turn into a sand item based on there life on earth. If they sinned they are a single grain of sand. If they where just a normal member of church they turn into 19 grains of sand. If they where a priest for your church they are a block of sand. If you where a holy person and where touched by the gods then you are a dub of sand. And if you are a Sand Priest you are a desert.

Afterlife trials

In the first afterlife trail you must go through 20 sand diggers. You are touched by each and every sand digger taking out one grain at a time. Because of your life on earth you have more sand to go through. If you run out of sand then your soul is set down to Atar to dig sand for the rest of eternity. If you can make it through the first trial you go to the second. The second task is to ask for forgiveness from anyone you ever hurt. If they lie or refuse to ask forgiveness a sand digger come and removes a grain of sand. If they can do this they must seek approval from the gods. They meet with the gods and there church god talks to them why you should move on to the heaven. If the gods decided you are not good enough then they take all your sand out of you. Then if you pass you are sent to the land of peace and no work.

Sand Priest

The Sand Priest is the leader of the church and also believed to be a offspring of the gods. They lead the church through life until they go inactive and even in the afterlife still serve the church. If they ever have children the children come with them through the after life and become a minor god. But if the Sand Priest takes a turn to evil he or she is sent down to Atar in the afterlife to forever burn. As more of the punishment there children must watch them.

Churches

At the moment there is only one church of Sandism located in Pasargadae. A church has a open roof that is pointed to the top. At some point in the day and night the eyes of the gods are right over the churches making whomever in the holy bath able to be noticed by the gods.

Holy Baths

A holy bath is centered in the middle of the church right under the open roof. Any one in the bath throughs holy sand to either ask for a gift from Cyrus of a forgiveness of their sins. You are able to enter a bath at anytime but for the most success in your ask then you must be in the bath when the eye of a god is above you

Eyes of The Gods

The sun and moon are believed to be the eyes of the gods with the moon being Mah's eye and the sun being Cyrus's eye. This is just one of there eyes with the other judging the dead souls. The eye in the sky is not on the body of the god. The Gods are cyclops but still have two eyes.

Javak

Javak is the state of self calm. If a person manages to obtain Javak they leave there body and enter the heavens. There they become a peace god, Finding one living thing to bless and follow. The body of a peace god wanders through the land until they find a patch of bare sand that is untouched, once here they enter a meditation for the rest of there body's life.

The Book Of Sand

The Book Of Sand is the holy bible for sandists, it is a work in progress but it starts out with the first Naqqāli (Not-Kali).

The First Naqqāli (Not-Kali)

The story describes a priest who is from Uruk. Cyrus comes to him in human form and tells him to find the holy land (Pasargadae) and start and land of education about the religion.

The Second Naqqāli

This story is of a boy who was not faithful. When this boys parents went to the church he stayed behind, when a battle came to his village he slayed many people. He did not care about who he killed, but as he was fighting Mah came down to him and spoke to him, This conversation is in the real book of sand. Then as the boy did not listen to Mah he was slain, and for he was not faithful he had less than a grain when he made it to the tests.

The Third Naqqāli

The story tells of a very faithful man, but when he was walking down the road he saw a ill man, this ill man was coughing and needing much help, but as this man passed he did not give help. He just watched him. That night the man came to him, he turned into Cyrus and spoke that he was faithful but not kind, and to truly make it to the heavens he would have to be kind.

Holidays

The Holy Week

The holy week is a week to pray and honor the gods, this holiday is not a celebration.

On the first day of the week or Monday, it is a day of finding. People gather in the Sand Temple (Still in construction) to find there inner self. People can meditate here for the entire day if that is there wish.

Tuesday

On the second day, or Tuesday it is the day of Cyrus, People gather in the temple and pray and worship to Cyrus. As it is Cyrus's day he usually makes the sun shine brighter. If it rains on his day then it is a curse and that whole year will be full of darkness and pain.

Wednesday

On the third day or Wednesday, it is a day of rest for this is the middle of the holiday, and in between when the sunsets and the moon rises there is rest so this day people rest.

Thursday

On the fourth day or Thursday it is the day of Mah, so people rest during the day and during the night head out to pray and honor Mah, if there are no stars or moon then the year will be very sad and the food will run low.

Friday

On the final day, or Friday people pray for others, If there is someone needs luck or someone is in a hard place then they can pray for them. At the end of the day they leave the temple, and the holiday is over.

Harissa

Harissa is the day of feasting, taking place in late september, people stock up on chicken and carrots or potatoes and then when the night begins the feast begins. People also on this day drink honey and milk, these foods are traditional to persia and therefor are easy to get.

The Great Day Of Life

On this day, which is in the middle of october is a day where all the people who have made it to heaven can come back down to earth for one day. These people don't come down in bodys, but as sand. This sand is placed in the holy baths at a church and the person will come back in person. At the end of the day people gather in there church to say goodbye to those who came down on that day.
