The Canadian Newspaper 'Boom'
In the late December of 2017 four Canadian newspapers emerged. This was during a time of media silence on the server with the only other prevalent newspaper, The Munich Times quieting down. Two of the four papers born from this 'boom' were The Daily Post & The Blockbuster Insider. These two newspapers were the only ones to make it out of December with the other two shutting down. The Daily Post was shut down earlier this year while the TBI remained the only Canadian newspaper still in operation. Since then the Californian Post and the Baja Times were founded, also being Canadian newspapers.
The July 2018 Newspaper Boom
For about half a year The Blockbuster Insider sat as the servers biggest and only source of news. It would be later on the 26th of June that The Munich Times would return, this time using the discord based concept that TBI had shown could be successful.
July came around and Sharkfynn1012, the founder of TBI was elected as Canada's Hoyenah, this limited writing time and this coupled with The Blockbuster Insider losing its most active magazine writer ScaryDragon caused a lapse in the quantity of TBI news broadcasts.
A gap in the market had been created, people saw that there was an opening in the unprofitable news business. The UK based discord newspaper founded by The Pock, theBBC was the first news company to enter what was not yet the 'boom' we know of today. During the first half of July The BBC was very much so the only broadcaster with TBI falling silent though holding steady and the GermanMunich Times going quiet too.
WokeTV, the Japanese brainchild of MineHero43 was a biased opinion based newspaper that came onto the scene on the 16th of July and garnered attention for its anti staff stories centered around China. WokeTV marked the start of the busiest part of the boom, as after it you had EzNews which was created by Drkgustaf and Wangolf, EzNews was a newspaper that wrote comical often fictional stories about the real lives of controversial players. To follow on the heels of EzNews were quite a few joke newspapers that didnt gain enough traction to get off the ground.
Russia Today joined the race on the 21st of July and is a Russian newspaper run by the Russian Tsar Runnerboy72000.
The newspaper landscape has been growing rapidly, with alternate sources for many stories. The Blockbuster Insider might still be at the top as far as reader quantities go but for the first time in seemingly forever players have a choice with as to what they want to read.
