Until January 22nd, 2023, the government was a parliamentary system, where members of the chamber could vote on propositions issued by another member. The system was abolished after attemps of overthrowing the ruling government by use of the parliament, which led in a coup led by a military junta backed by the monarchy.

The Netherlands, officially The United Kingdoms of the Netherlands, is a semi-democratic constitutional monarchy in central Europe, with overseas territories in Indonesia. Founded on May 6th, 2022, the current emperor is MattieMirakel. Discord

History

The nation was founded on May 6th, 2022, with its capital at Amsterdam. The towns of Brussels, The Hague, Den Haag, Antwerp, Flanders, Essen, Luxembourg, Calais, Mainz, and Köln then joined the nation on the same day. The nation was originally planned to be named Benelux, but a day before the nation was founded, a vote was held in which the name Netherlands was chosen instead. A nation shop was established by May 7th, and it was slowly improved.

On May 20th, 2022, the town of Brussels left the nation to create the nation of Belgium. Quickly after that, it was decided to create a Benelux meganation, consisting of existing Netherlands and the newly made Belgium.

On May 21th, 2022, the nation of Kaiserreich declared war on the nation citing claim-blocking as their casus belli. Towns across the Netherlands began expanding quickly to block the approach of newly made Kaiserreich towns that were getting closer.

The nationality of town Saint-Malo started being disputed in early June 2022 by Franco-Germany, who claimed the territory of the Dutch town as theirs, along with towns in the Rhineland and Luxembourg.

The Dutch Shopping District

On July 2nd, 2022, the nation spawn was moved and the new Dutch Shopping District opened. Inspired by Amsterdam in real life, it consisted of a decently large shop surrounded by canals.

The next day, the nation of Transvaal joined Netherlands, with its citizens officially becoming Dutch citizens, having equal stature in the Dutch parliament and government.

On July 8th, 2022, the government was reformed : Ministers are now elected by citizens, and the Prime Minister is chosen by the Koning (King). Elections are held every two months. The four ministers are Infrastructure, Domestic Affairs, Finance, and Foreign Affairs. The first election took place on July 12th, 2022.

On June 26th, 2022, the EMC Protestant church was launched by the Netherlands.

On June 28th, 2022, a colony in the Cape of Good Hope, Cape, was founded by MadGeckos. (Later sold to Zizu1998 and made into a colony of RSA)

After selling Saint-Malo in France, StLouis_ purchased the nation of Livonia, which joined the Netherlands as a viceroyalty.

On August 16th, 2022, the conflict with Deutsches_Reich, formerly Kaiserreich, was ended by the Netherlands becoming peaceful. Due to inactivity in the German side, the conflict remained dead and stale.

On March 2023, a colony in the East Indies, DutchEastIndies, was founded by StLouis_.

Dutch-Sulawesi War

Outbreak of War with Sulawesi

On December 23, 2025, at 21:34 UTC, the Dutch government formally issued a declaration of war against the Sulawesi. The casus belli cited by the Netherlands was the "unlawful overclaim" of Batavia, the capital of the Dutch East Indies. Sulawesi, however, rejected the legitimacy of this claim, counter-arguing that the Netherlands had demonstrated "negligence and hypocrisy" by failing to defend its territories, such as Sumatra, and for previously overclaiming Sulawesi's allies in Borneo.

Rapid Escalation and International Backlash

The declaration triggered a mediocre domino effect of international intervention. On the morning of December 24, the Vietnamese Empire declared war on the Netherlands in support of Sulawesi. This was followed by Mataram.

By December 25, the Nubian Empire formally denounced the Dutch colonial policy as "anachronistic violence." While Nubia refrained from a direct declaration of war, it signaled clear material and diplomatic support for the Sulawesi-led coalition.

Formation of the ASEAN Bloc and Isolation

On December 26, 2025, the escalation reached a diplomatic turning point when ASEAN conducted an alliance-wide vote. The result was a formal declaration to embargo the Netherlands and its territories.

The geopolitical landscape shifted further following a non-aggression pact between Vietnam and Nubia. Leveraging this stability, Australia and the Philippines formally joined the ASEAN alliance. On January 10, 2026, the inclusion of Victoria into ASEAN further solidified the regional front against the Netherlands.

Conclusion of the War

Despite the breadth of international sanctions, the coordinated trade embargoes ultimately proved ineffective. Rather than crippling the Dutch economy, VOC profits rose by 13 percent over the course of the conflict, underscoring both the resilience of Dutch commercial networks and the limitations of the embargo strategy.

The war formally came to an end through diplomatic channels rather than battlefield resolution. Fangering, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, negotiated a ceasefire agreement with the Nubian leadership, bringing hostilities to a close and signaling a transition from open confrontation to a tense but stabilized regional order.

Germany joins

On February 21, 2026, after weeks of negotiation, Germany joined the United Kingdoms of the Netherlands. A few days later, many major German towns such as Prague and Bratislava joined the Netherlands. The meganation thus grew to encompass most of Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovakia, Austria, Scandinavia, the Baltics, and parts of Indonesia, containing over 20,000 chunks and 2,000 residents.

Merger of DEI

On March 22, 2026, Dutch East Indies was fully integrated into the Netherlands nation.

Government

The current government is a semi-democratic monarchy, headed by the Emperor of the Netherlands, and the elected Lord Mayor of Amsterdam. All voting such as elections and proposals are done so by a council (diet), which is composed of all active and long-time residents.
