8set

8set (also known as 8sex, Etto-Setto ; Jan 2nd 2023 - April 12th 2026) was a prominent figure on EarthMC Terra Aurora, who was known for her influence in the PvP realm of Early Aurora, large amounts of wealth, her early involvement in North American geopolitics, and her wide-ranging connections throughout the geopolitical community of EarthMC Terra Aurora.

Terra Aurora: 8set gained early fame as an incredibly skilled PvPer who gained a reputation for being 'unkillable' throughout various conflicts, with the most well-known example being the Summer Conflict between the Rocky Mountain Federation and the Republic of Cascadia in 2023. She then took a break from PvP in 2024, becoming knowledgeable with national administration through positions such as Nubia's Minister of Defense (MoD), and used this knowledge and skill to help lead the Alaskan-secessionist Empire of Denali (until dissolution) in 2025, later rebuilding its remnants as the North Pacific Empire into 2026. She ended Aurora as the leader of North Alaska (with the broader position as Empress of the North Pacific Empire, the meganation which North Alaska led). 8set would a departure from the server on April 12th, 2026, as Terra Aurora closed, citing personal dissatisfaction with Minecraft geopolitics in general and a need to dedicate more time to real-life projects.

Philosophy

Throughout their time on EarthMC, 8set developed a philosophy not only for use in PvP, but which was applicable to most interactions on the server. Her approach was multifaceted, prioritizing strong specialization of skill, honor, adaptability, and extreme caution.

Specialization of Skill

As a PvPer, 8set became fully devoted to improving herself and honing her ability, specializing uniquely in EMC's low-tps PvP of the time. Among other things, she emphasized the importance of not being discouraged at a loss but using it as determination to improve. She often watched clips of her own fights from other people's perspectives as well as her own to review her performance and identify any inefficiencies or mistakes, creating a loop of consistent improvement which ultimately benefitted her skill level as a whole, giving her a unique ability to constantly return stronger. 8set had a strong determination to build a reputation of incredible skill, basing her PvP improvement on the idea that death is dishonorable, as oftentimes players would display armor sets of killed PvPers. Her determination to constantly improve proved a useful trait as a nation leader, allowing rapid development and effective action to become trademarks in her work.

Honor and Respect

Through her time on EMC, 8set came into contact with people from many different playstyles, whether it was other PvPers trying to make a name for themselves, scammers looking for quick gold at the cost of others, or simply those looking to build. 8set understood from an early point in her time on the server that simply being friendly will get you much further than being egotistical. While she held a notorious reputation for her skill, she also held one for being among the more down-to-earth and civil PvPers. She did not hunt (except in times of war) because she felt it was dishonorable to, citing its similarities to outright theft without any reason other than to make money. She didn't harass people much in chat about pvp, nor did she request duels often either, allowing others to come to her with challenges. She engaged in bounty work a few times, but typically only if the contractor was a close friend and the reasoning was solid to her. Her reputation and own respectfulness led to many people of various different backgrounds respecting her as not only a skilled fighter but also a genuine, stand-up person. This respect and honor extended to her place as a nation and alliance leader, gaining her valuable alliances and close friendships throughout the server, giving her a unique advantage in diplomatic affairs.

Adaptability

8set also understood that in order to develop as a fighter, she must be comfortable with various styles of PvP and various tactics used by opponents. She started with simple swords, and moved to diamondpot, then to nethpot, and finally axe/smp, refining skills from each kit which would serve as fundamental components of her fighting style later on. She would often take the time to watch clips from rival PvPers to understand their own style and learn it herself, expanding her own ability to adapt to different opponents and fighting styles. Through her few deaths in PvP, she identified weaknesses in herself and her opponents and later returned victorious. This adaptability also led to great success in her post-pvp interactions, as she learned and adapted to the various geopolitical factions and their way of business, forging her skills in war, peacekeeping, and alliance/nation-building. Her strategy of self-review allowed her to identify things she was doing incorrectly or inefficiencies in her work and remedy them, solidifying her skills as a leader.

Extreme Caution

8set's intent of building a fierce reputation led her to be extremely cautious when picking fights. Oftentimes, she would only fight if she was sure she would win, such as if she had friends waiting behind her in the case she was ambushed by her enemy's reinforcements. She oftentimes refused duel requests because she knew the other party would not duel honorably, especially if she did not have backup herself in the case the opponent brought more people. 8set was also extremely cautious in her affairs outside of PvP, often taking the time to consider all possible consequences of an action geopolitically and devising effective and complex plans for action on behalf of her nation. 8set was unique in the sense that she could put herself directly into an opponent's shoes without needing inside intelligence or espionage entirely.

Humble Beginnings (January - February 2023)

Spawn

On January 2nd, 2023, 8set joined EarthMC for the first time, spawning in Northern Mongolia. She wandered until receiving an invite to Dubai, Terra_Austrailis, which 8set later left as nobody let her out of spawn. After seeing an advertisement in chat from Milgorn123, 8set decided to join Olympia, Cascadia, claiming a plot in the downtown section as her first home on EMC.

Early experience with PvP

Initially, 8set was not a very skilled PvPer whatsoever, but began fighting in Cascadia's military and training with them to learn the ropes. During a particularly large fight against hunters, she was killed by 4kolk (whom 8set would later become friends with in later 2023). Reflecting on the failure, 8set devoted herself to improving in PvP.

Mayorship

On January 26th, 2023, she created the town of Banff in western Canada, and began expanding it after receiving a loan of 100g from BillowySplash5, which was later repaid. The town was centered around a small river in between the mountains to the north and south, however the south was excavated shortly after to facilitate expansion. The town was noted as being unique for it's lack of terraforming (flattening terrain to make artificial space for buildings), instead building along the natural elevation changes and utilizing multiple stairways throughout the town to traverse.

The investment from BillowySplash5 and his friend Mudk2p led to a bond between themselves and 8set forming, which would last beyond Aurora, and would shape the months to come.

Taste of Leadership (March - June 2023)

Membership within Cascadia

8set, having been a member of Cascadia for 2 months, had become a representative within the Cascadian House of Representatives in the Great North district. In this position, 8set was exposed to the internal workings of the Cascadian government, and also took note of various personalities present within the nation.

8set also saw problems within the system, especially the brutal bureaucratic slowness that is often present in democracies. Towns in the Great North district were getting raided by hunters daily, but complaints to the Cascadian executive branch fell on deaf ears. BillowySplash, in a trolling mood, proposed a bill into the house which would barr fellow representative AghastBlock from "proposing stupid bills", which promptly led to him getting censured via a bill of the same house. These shortcomings and events led to a feeling of dissatisfaction that was not quenched by any reform- it was ambition to correct the flaws and better the quality of life by any means.

Final Weeks in Cascadia

8set's growing ambition and strong dissatisfaction with the status quo did not go unnoticed by other Cascadian players. A player by the name Akeboun approached 8set, Billowy, and Mudk2p with the proposition of seceding from Cascadia to form their own nation, planned to combat the same shortcomings that were present in Cascadia. Akeboun would also utilize the friendship he formed with 8set to bolster his political career, which failed to yield substantial results.

A sandmining incident between Sonora and Cascadia led to incumbent Cascadian Minister of Defense Paradox_1080 resigning from office in disgrace, and Milgorn123 promptly appointed 8set into the same position, which would humorously only last 2 weeks before 8set's secession (see below).

Rocky Mountain Federation (RMF)

On March 6th, 2023, after a few day's planning, 8set, BillowySplash5, and Mudk2p seceded from the Republic of Cascadia with two other towns (Jericho Ranch, led by Akeboun, and Tarnish, led by Cowilo) to form a new nation known as the Rocky Mountain Federation. The leaders of the RMF were to be 8set, BillowySplash5, and Akeboun; however Akeboun, later the same day, revealed he was a spy, raiding Banff of roughly ~700 gold worth of items and destroying a Rocketship belonging to Laccadive Sea (which was later restored due to Griefing rules). Mudk2p was promptly promoted to fill the gap Akeboun had left.

Cascadia, calling the secession movement an "insurrection", stated that the RMF must repay a debt of 416g incurred as Banff had received gold from Cascadia's town funding service named "Cascaid". RMF leaders contested, stating that the value of items stolen in the theft exceeded this amount, and that the debt was already considered repaid from this end. Cascadia insisted that Akeboun acted as a 'private citizen', which the RMF disagreed with. It was later proven after the 7/23 Cascadian discord nuke that the theft was fully sanctioned and approved by the Cascadian Executive branch.

On March 16th, after much negotiation, the two nations signed the Treaty of Banff, ending hostilities. It also established a small border for the RMF's expansion to be contained within, and formally voided the debt.

The Summer Conflict, and continued PvP Experience

8set began rapidly improving in PvP skill during this time, fueled by the new nation's need for an effective defense. She soon became well-known throughout the North American EMC community as one of the best PvPers in the region. Among the battles she fought in were the 2v7 against Cascadia and 1v3 defense of Banff, where she claimed victory both times.

Swordsmanship (July 2023 - September 2023)

PvPer's Reputation

During this time, 8set made a name for herself as a renowned PvPer. She fought in many battles and successfully dueled many famous pvpers, including 4kolk, SussySoGod, and many others, solidifying her place among the best. During this time, she was considered by many as the best pvper of aurora, with her skill only being nearly contested by few. A set from 8set was an achievement that very few ever accomplished, leading to an incredibly fierce reputation forming around her.

The Rocky Mountains sale and Aftermath

8set and her friends BillowySplash5 and Mudk2p decided to sell Rocky Mountains and a few of the towns within it to former Cascadian pvper RealLIMPOPO for 6.5k. They had all agreed that it was time for a move, and so they did. RealLIMPOPO would go on to betray Cascadia right after the sale, taking the 4.5k Cascadia had given to them and splitting ties.

Before the sale, 8set had looked at an island known as New Pomerania, and made a town and nation there after the sale. Soon enough, they became bored of this island, and split up to different nations. BillowySplash5 and Mudk2p moved to the town of "Mudkip" in Ob, and 8set bought a few other nations and towns such as Bakel (renamed to Songhai_Empire), African_Coast, and they eventually settled on Somalia as her home.

Membership within the Kasana Clan

8set joined the Kasana Clan sometime in mid-2023 after establishing friendly relations with many of the founding members. She was one of the few English-speaking members in the group, which was primarily Japanese and Chinese, but she was equally respected due to her skill at pvp.

8set fought in various battles alongside Kasana fighters, and was often reinforced by them during raids and attacks, gathering notoriety for both herself and the group.

Later in 2023, the group had largely disbanded as the founding members quit the server, and those who were left focused less on pvp, instead choosing to begin scamming. While this had occurred under the 'old' Kasana leadership (which 8set turned a blind eye to), it had gotten much worse. She felt that the Kasana clan's reputation was being tarnished, and decided to leave alongside a few others who felt the same.

Kasana Clan as a PvP group never really returned, although 8set did participate in a few fights against its members later on- notably Kasana2003, Kasana2005, and wsjiou. However, they were no longer anywhere comparable in strength to what they were in early aurora, and the Kasana Clan continuously lost against 8set during following fights.

Hiatus (November 2023 - May 2024)

Burnout and Legacy

EMC's pvp was pretty stressful for 8set, as maintaining a high level of PvP skill meant heavy devotion to practicing and refining her skill. After a long consideration about the effects of this stress, she began to take a break from pvp (and EMC in general) in November 2023. Occasionally, she would log on and do smaller battles and other things, but for the most part was off of the server for this time due to her mental health and other interests. Despite her inactivity in the PvP sector of EMC, she was still regarded as one of the strongest fighters of her era, being rivalled only by the occasional closet cheater and a few friends in friendly 1v1's. Her reputation was only further bolstered by the fact that nobody had any netherite armor dropped by 8set.

Exile

8set went on to create a town in Indochina ("Brunei"; which 8set kept for the remainder of Aurora as a storage depot) and later a town (named "Exile") in Chad (later Nubia), housing a large castle she used as her home. 8set's first town, Banff (then named "Fish"), is unclaimed and disbanded by RealLIMPOPO.

Transition to Geopolitics (June 2024 - April 2025)

Overview

Having matured since 2023, 8set began to involve herself less in PvP. Due to her fierce reputation, most issues were resolved by simply talking, as most pvpers knew 8set was still skilled even years into retirement. 8set proved herself once again in duels against Myisti_, another skilled pvper who later became a swordsman under 8set after being defeated in a duel.

During this time, 8set joined the Nubian government, serving as the minister of defense. She also joins the CIS as a member of the internal affairs department, however this position was temporary as it was disbanded weeks later.

He formed the Empire of Brunei, and later moved to snipe the nation of Getz. Later, she bought Polis, the capital of North_Alaska for 1.4k and renames it to Dawnstar, Rocky_Mountains. She trained PvP occasionally and still retained a high level of skill, even a year into retirement.

Great North American War (GNAW)

8set was heavily involved in the Great North American War, assisting Texas in intelligence gathering, training pvpers, and serving as an occasional advisor to North_Paso. She were heavily involved in the 7/23/24 Cascadian Discord Nuke, later publishing a video on Youtube regarding some of the downloaded channels named "Cascpack24". It was later revealed by 8set after Aurora ended that she was the one to do most of the deletion and banning, as Samisol (who was the one originally admin roled mistakenly) was afraid of their discord getting banned. 8set's alt account was not banned or punished whatsoever.

Arctic Pact, Rocky Mountains Changes

After Karn4 and Thither171 robbed a large sum of gold from Texas following a fallout between the leadership in late 2024, they sought refuge in Rocky Mountains and moved their personnel and storage to be based there. After this took place, Texan leadership changed and there was no further fallout between the two parties. After discussing future policy, the idea of a large "Northern Alliance" was thrown around and was eventually agreed upon. The alliance, named the Arctic Pact, began recruiting members from Arctic/Northern regions around the world, with 8set as the chairman and Rocky_Mountains as the capital.

Conflict Against Alaska

To put it simply:

8set was government member in Alaska, winning 1st place in representative elections.

8set's friend, BlizzardSnowy, was also mayor in Alaska, and openly discussed intentions to start his own nation (albeit, with peaceful and cooperative intent). Tuzzzie, who was then-labeled "Ceremonial Monarch" of Alaska, removed him from the nation. 8set openly disagreed with Tuzzzie over this move, and this was later undone, but Tuzzzie retained a hostility towards Blizzard.

The feud evolved into actual conflict when BlizzardSnowy killed 2 townless players in Alaskan wilderness, whom had actually been prospecting mayors for Alaska according to Tuzzzie. It is debated in internal circles if these players were truly intending to make a town or if they were simply bait from Tuzzzie to gain justification for removing Blizzard, but most sources agree it was likely the first.

Tuzzzie removed BlizzardSnowy from Alaska permanently, citing the Alaskan constitution's "Right to Life", which stated: "Alaskan citizens will not kill another citizen except in self-defense, mutual combat, or otherwise agreed upon circumstances." However, 8set quickly pointed out in the representative chat that because the players were townless when BlizzardSnowy killed them, they did not fit within the constitution's definition of "Citizen", which was: "All residents of towns in Alaska". 8set also pointed out that Tuzzzie was overstepping her authority as a "Ceremonial Monarch", citing that the historical title of "Ceremonial" IRL and ingame generally conveys a lack of actual control over national decisions, and that these contradictions had shown that Tuzzzie's actions had been in violation of the constituion she herself had created.

Multiple other representatives agreed with 8set, with some calling for a revised constitution alongside some chastising Tuzzzie for her hot-headedness regarding Blizzard and her lack of clear communication (as she had simply kicked Blizzard without asking him to return any items, making it seem as though her focus was to harm Blizzard rather than 'make things right'.) Many loyalists towards Tuzzzie remained quiet or offered criticism of the claims 8set had made.

Unfortunately, no official reprimand towards Tuzzzie or any compensation towards Blizzard happened as a result of these violations being called out, as Tuzzzie simply did not allow it. It was exceedingly clear, however, that the friendship between 8set and Tuzzzie had ceased to exist, with Tuzzzie furious that one of her own representatives had taken a stand against her so openly.

During the next Alaskan election cycle, 8set ran for both Representative and Minister of Defense. While she expected a loss on Minister of Defense against the co-monarch Fruitloopins (who had likely run intentionally to keep 8set out of the position, despite holding the position of co-monarch), she assumed she would land a position in the Alaskan House of Representatives as she were incumbent and had won 1st place in the previous month's elections. It was a shock to find out in the election results that 8set had apparently fallen to barely losing the position of representative. While some loyalists to the monarchy claimed that the loss was due to 8set falling 'out of favor' with many Alaskans due to the controversy against Tuzzzie, 8set and others close to her immediately began to suspect that the election results were altered artificially by Tuzzzie (who was in charge of overseeing elections). Alongside the sudden, 'out of the blue' decrease in popularity, the voting system/metrics were also apparently altered according to the voting data without any change in how voting worked (i.e.; in the 1st election cycle, a higher number was better. in the second, a lower number was better.) Rumors also spread to 8set from sources within Tuzzzie's close social circle that Tuzzzie was furious with her.

To 8set, this act of unfairness and betrayal gave her the justification to begin aggressively seeking to weaken Alaska and pry power from Tuzzzie by any means necessary, believing that it was clear she shouldn't be a leader and that she was a liability overall to the people of Alaska.

2nd Ban (April 25th 2025 - September 10th 2025)

Context for the ban

On March 26th, 2025, multiple items were sent to then-staff-manager Tuzzzie's house, where her boyfriend (and then-developer) Fruitloopins was staying on vacation. Among these items were allegedly a bottle of bleach, multiple pizzas, alcohol, and infamously, a bottle of Mountain Dew Baja Blast.

Nearly a month later on April 25th 2025, a banwave of 5 players occurred in connection with the doxx- AloofJuice (appeal denied by Fix), StinkyAnson (appeal denied by Greed), BlizzardSnowy (left the support discord and admitted to doxxing), DekuFullCowling (unbanned by greed after a month-long tempban), and 8set.

Minutes after the bans, Fruitloopins made an announcement post on their national discord (Alaska) accusing these players by name of having a role in the doxx, using a "Victory Announcement" theme to get it onto TBI.

General Overview

8set was banned for the second time in her EMC playtime on 4/25/25, under Rule 2.7 (Leveraging personal information). She opened an appeal the same day and were informed that only CorruptedGreed (former head admin) could handle the ticket due to the sensitive nature and staff element of the case.

Tuzzzie quit EMC and resigned from staff on 5/8/25, citing that the server had become 'toxic'.

Fruitloopins and CorruptedGreed left the staff team (it is uncertain if these are simply resignings or demotions, will be updated should an official source clarify) on September 5th, 2025 (just 5 days prior to 8set's unban).

8set was unbanned on September 10th, 2025, after email correspondence with the server owner, Fix.

The ban appeal lasted 138 days total, and outlasted the staff membership of Fruitloopins, Tuzzzie, and CorruptedGreed, all of whom resigning from their positions. Fix consequently gave 8set 138 days of Premium as compensation for the appeal's arguably outrageous length and lack of any evidence whatsoever (Fix states this in their final email to 8set- "I have found no evidence that supports the claims made against you [8set]")

Post-Ban Reconstruction (September 11th 2025 - April 12th 2026)

8set would immediately become active after the unban and dedicated a significant portion of time to rebuilding what was left of Denali. Despite 6 months of absent leadership, Denali's community still held on, with almost no defection to Alaska and very little members leaving elsewhere. Towards the later months, however, a few splinter nations took root in the region as Alaska had another drop in activity following Fruitloopins' resignation from staff; Bering_Sea, and North Alaska (led by JimplayzMC and KittyCo respectively, both of whom were previously Denali government members.)

On September 11th, an internal vote was held in North Alaska's government to transfer leadership of the nation to 8set following a discussion between Kittyco and 8set. By September 12th, the vote had recieved 4 "yes" and 1 "no" votes. By the 14th, ownership of North_Alaska was transferred to 8set.

8set quickly rallied the remnants of Denali and, in a matter of weeks, revived the nation's activity and strength. 8set, alongside Addychi and other prominent members of the new North Alaskan government, would get the nation to 200 residents on December 27th, 2025.

8set gifted her close friend Nebular77 the Dragon Head Badge on April 1st.

8set would last play Terra Aurora on April 11th, logging off at the chairs above the town spawn.
