Prior to the electoral campaign period, the candidates for the election were uncertain. President Milgorn123 had hinted at a potential third-term run, however eventually decided upon standing down for re-election. Sign-ups for the Presidential Election began on Saturday, April 8, 2023, and soon saw the candidacy declarations of AghastBlock, Ohgizmo, Ninjaboi301, Ir0n__, and Akeboun. Additionally, Representative and former Defense Secretary Paradox_1080 announced his candidacy, but soon withdrew from the race. Akeboun, a candidate who had previously ran in the February and March elections unsuccessfully against President Milgorn, was seen as the initial frontrunner in the race, alongside seasoned statesman and incumbent House Speaker AghastBlock. Ir0n, a Representative from the Great North who formed a town just nearly 2.5 months prior, was seen as a wild card candidate, however surprisingly received notable endorsements, such as Former President TylenolEC, and later, President Milgorn himself. | |||
