Nova:Elba

Elba is a historic Italian town located on the island of Elba. Founded in late 2019 by riri2010 and later purchased by FARTIDUCK85 for 200 gold, the town became one of the most prominent settlements in Italia during mid-2020. Despite its limited size, Elba reached a population of around 40 residents and became known for its dense development, land reclamation projects, tourism efforts, and unsuccessful attempt to establish an independent nation. The town is currently owned by Meridinarto.
History
Founding and Early Years (Late 2019 – May 2020)
Elba was founded in late 2019 by riri2010 on the island of Elba, off the coast of Italy. During its early years, the town remained relatively small and centered around a lighthouse that served as one of its defining landmarks. Despite its modest development, the settlement established itself as a local community within the Italian region.
In 2020, ownership of the town changed hands when FARTIDUCK85 purchased Elba for approximately 200 gold. Under the new administration, the town entered a period of rapid expansion and redevelopment.
Expansion Under FARTIDUCK85 (May 2020 – June 2020)
Following the acquisition, FARTIDUCK85 recruited a number of active players to help transform Elba into a major regional settlement. Among the most notable contributors were coochymilk, goofymilk, Andakira, and LeavePlease, who collectively formed much of the town's leadership and development team.
Around June 2020, the original lighthouse was demolished by Andakira and replaced with new public infrastructure, including a community farm and a windmill. This redevelopment reflected the town's shift from a small settlement into a densely developed urban center.
At its peak, Elba was home to approximately forty residents, making it one of the most populated towns in Italia despite its limited geographical size. The island quickly reached its physical limits, forcing residents to maximize every available plot of land. Extensive land reclamation projects were undertaken to expand the island's usable area, while portions of the town's claims extended onto the Italian mainland.
The town's rapid population growth created significant challenges for future expansion. Attempts to secure additional land on the mainland proved difficult, as the inactive mayor of nearby Pisa controlled much of the surrounding territory and was unavailable for negotiations. As a result, Elba's builders focused on intensive development rather than territorial growth, utilizing nearly every available block within the town's borders.
Tourism and Regional Influence
During its height, Elba's leadership sought to establish the town as a notable destination within EarthMC. FARTIDUCK85 frequently invited prominent community figures to visit the town, including the well-known player Emperor6k.
To further promote Elba, Andakira produced a seven-minute showcase video highlighting the town's architecture, infrastructure, and community. These promotional efforts aimed to increase the town's visibility and attract both visitors and potential residents.
Elba also maintained close relations with neighboring Italian communities. FARTIDUCK85 and Andakira were particularly friendly with GugolMC, the mayor of Florence, contributing to stronger ties between some of the region's most active settlements.
Attempted Nationhood
As Elba continued to grow, its FARTIDUCK85 explored the possibility of establishing an independent nation. By mid-2020, the town had developed a strong population base and considerable infrastructure, making such ambitions appear achievable.
However, the project ultimately failed after the town's beacon was stolen by Samisol. The loss of the beacon dealt a major blow to Elba's aspirations and effectively ended plans for independence.
Decline and Leadership Transition (July 2020)
By July 2020, Elba had reached the peak of its development. Shortly afterward, several key residents departed for other projects and communities. coochymilk, goofymilk, and Andakira left to pursue opportunities elsewhere, including Ohio and later the states of Nova Scotia and Piauí (recruited by Tafffy of Socotra)
Following these departures, FARTIDUCK85 also left Italia and transferred control of Elba to Meridinarto. Without many of the players who had driven its rapid growth, the town entered a quieter period and gradually declined from its former prominence.
