Himalayas Line is a TNIH-directly ice highway Indian subcontinent that parallels Chittagong-Delhi Ice Highway. The line has a total length 3011 blocks, including the concurrency part.
Overview
The Himalayas Line connect with Agra and Chittagong via Chittagong-Lhasa Ice Highway with the route being straight as possible. This is the first TNIH line which uses semi station, a station which touching one side can be passable.
The ice selection on this route using packed ice along the majority of the route, there are short blue ice sections between Bhutan Station-Woo North Junction.
History
- May 30th, 2023: Naypyidaw - Woo Empire JCT - Woo Empire segment opens to traffic as part of Chittagong-Lhasa Ice Highway branch.
- May 31st, 2023: The exterior of overground station of Woo Empire station is complete.
- July 22nd, 2024: Agra JCT - Pokhara segment opens to traffic upon the request from Pokhara mayor.
- September 3rd, 2024: Pokhara - Madhesh Mine segment and Haldwani Branch opens to traffic.
- Early-Mid-September 2024: Pokhara station renamed to Canopus station, reflecting the town rename.
- September 14th, 2024: Madhesh Mine - Sikkim Mine segment opens to traffic, making Madhesh Mine can be passable by boat.
- September 16th, 2024: Northward Everest-Delhi Ice Highway connection to Everest on Everest JCT opens to traffic.
- September 28th, 2024: Southward Everest-Delhi Ice Highway connection to Delhi on Everest JCT opens to traffic.
- October 5th, 2024: Lucknow Station put into service as infill station.
- October 7th, 2024:
- The last segment, Everest JCT-Woo North segment, opens to traffic, completing the Chittagong-Delhi Ice Highway.
- Chittagong-Delhi Ice Highway Woo Empire branch was incorporated into the Himalayas Line, making Sikkim Mine can be passable by boat.
- Late November 2024: Haldwani West Ice Highway connection to Himalayas Line opens to traffic.
