Broundonb - First joined EarthMC 12/06/2020, Councillor of New Jersey, Mayor of Hammerfest and Minister of Great Southern.
I have for a long time wondered about writing about my own experience on this server and stalled the decision, yet here I am drafting my own wiki page, eager to share my server background.
History
I have always been amazed by such architectural marvels that can be achieved in this game. From the start of my Minecraft 'experience' I have unsuccessfully attempted to recreate real-life towns in it. I am bound to admit I was personally thrilled to learn earth maps existed in Minecraft as well as plugins such as towny or quickshop, which kind of brought me back to this amusing game I was slowly drifting away from.
Introduction to towny
Woah, towny. I was sort of taken aback when this panel first came to my attention while searching for earth servers in early June 2020 "EarthMC. Geopolitics. No Flashing Banners" . After thoroughly reading the detailed server information, I found this unusual set of words: Towny, Survival, Roleplay, SMP, Earth, Hardcore, Anarchy, Economy, PvE, PvP, Lag.
I then decided to check it out personally, so I logged onto earthmc.net
and waited for 3 tiring hours (at the two hour mark I was almost insane) to find out that the server actually did broadly surpass my expectations.
First months in Newark
Moments after joining the server I received a surprising amount of town invites and DMs ranging from "Join my town!" to "this town sucks, join mine instead". I finally decided on Newark, and following Bigred's advice I managed to learn some basic towny commands: nation and town teleport and nation, town and resident information (/res [player]) amongst them.
