EarthMC Mafia

The "EarthMC Mafia", also known as the Cosa Nostra or the MineMob, is a term typically referring to a loosely-organized international criminal conspiracy in EarthMC, primarily during the Terra Aurora era and spearheaded by Albany mobster AdrianHES, don of the Volkov Family, and considered capo di tutti capi of organized crime in EarthMC.
EarthMC mafiosi typically engage in extortion and protection schemes, as well as playing silent partner in political operations and legal business ventures, primarily gambling. While the Mafia doesn't exclusively engage in rulebreaking activities, there have been instances where mob-connected individuals have used bannable methods in their operations.
On an in-game level, the mob is considered devoid of morality and basic entrepreneurial honor, using violence and intimidation to get what they want. Some states consider the EarthMC Mafia to be an outlaw entity, creating laws against organized crime. Others in the EarthMC community shun the Mafia as being an "RP group" and a collection of bullies, while other people support the mob and praise it for its cutthroat work ethic, protection and support of the working class, and its violence against other, more "cringier" sects of the EarthMC community.
Origins
While organized criminal groups have existed, in some form or another, in the EarthMC community since its inception, the notion of an international organized criminal conspiracy and a Mafia-type entity didn't materialize until late 2021 and early 2022, with the formation of the Volkov Family by AdrianHES.
Initially beginning as a loose-coalition of extortionists, scammers and thieves in the Italian and Turkish ghettos of Albany, the mob was, at that time, little more than a band of loosely-organized thugs. Besides the Volkov Family, other examples of organized crime at the time was Pirate Ron's coalition of raiders and the Bonanno crime family, a RoMob expat organization active in the Little Italy neighborhood of Albany.
In early 2022, the mob began to slowly take shape as Terra Nova slowly wound down. Many consider the origin palette and cousin entity for the EarthMC Mafia to be the RoMob - Roblox's equivalent to the EarthMC Mafia, which dominates organized crime on Roblox. Paul Bonanno, of the Bonanno crime family in the RoMob, was active in Albany at the time, recruiting Adrian Bonanno (Volkov) as his underboss. This led to further inspiration for the EarthMC Mafia community.
Following the release of Terra Aurora, the organized crime scene in EarthMC exploded - once again centered in Albany by new players, but also thriving in New York City and the United States as a whole, particularly North Boston. Crime on EarthMC was dominated by the Volkov Family at this time, and continues to be.
As of September 2022, the EarthMC Mafia remains a powerful contender in the geopolitics of the server, offering a new dynamic of a subversive, organized and greedy entity unlike the server has ever seen before.
Other information
Much like the cousin community of the EarthMC Mafia - the RoMob - two primary customs exist: omertà, and whacking.
Omertà
Omertà is a code of silence originating in Southern Italy. According to publicly released information, made members or "soldiers" of the EarthMC Mafia must swear an oath of silence. Breaking the oath, depending on the extremity of the betrayal, can lead them to be whacked.
Whacking
Much like the RoMob, "whacking" is the EarthMC Mafia's form of permadeath. As of now, it isn't simple killing, but rather total removal from the server. Getting people banned/forcing a retirement is a form of permadeath, and the mob takes pride in their secret methods for "killing" other mobsters.
Whacks must be validated through a screenshot of global chat, of a notification of a mod banning an EarthMC player. The second form of validation is a mod confirming over discord a ban, proved through video with a copy/paste of their discord ID.
Whacks are invalidated after an unban.
