EarthMC Football World Cup 2021
The Football World Cup of EarthMC (EMC) 2021 was a football event on EarthMC, held on Paradise, Israel. The tournament started on July 8th, 2021 and ended on July 30th. Its winners were the Greater Armenia team.
Rules and rewards
Every match lasts 30 minutes with a 5 minute half time. If there is a draw, there will be 10 minutes of overtime and, if there's a draw anyways there will be a shot on goal. The winning team would get 500 gold and the cup. As there're no balls on Minecraft, a player on diamond armor with Mending, and players will use stone swords with Knockback II and Unbreaking III and wear their team's armor.
History
Announcment of the event
On July 1st, 2021, louisdek created the Football World Cup of EMC and it was announced on #general-news on the biggest news network on the server, EarthMC Live. This immediatly gave the tournament great attention. As there were 12 teams, not all nations would be able to compete. The final formation of teams was:

Group phase
The first match of the tournament was Ancient Egypt vs West Galicia, with Ancient Egypt winning the match at 3-1. There aren't many things to note, except that Francia and Turkey were kicked out because of inactivity.

On this phase there was a landmark match Philippine F.R. vs Brazil, the match with the largest margin of win, 15-0 with Philippine F.R. winning.

The success of the event inspired louisdek to create the Squid Game.
Extra notes
During matches, PvP had to be left on so that people could play. As a result of this, many people lost their belongings because of players trying to ruin the fun, similar to incidents on the Olympics.
