Haida, officially the Kingdom of Haida is a small nation located on the Haida Gwaii archipelago and in a portion of northern British Columbia. Haida was originally formed by independence from Cascadia in early December 2019, but rejoined Cascadia twice in 2020, once in February, once in May before leaving again in January of 2021 for a brief period. Then Fracturued_Soul proceeded to cause a war between the nations which resulted in Haida rejoining Cascadia on February 2nd, 2021.
On December 12th, 2021, after Governor Oilerator was banned from the Cascadia Discord server by the authoritarian admins that run the server, as well as previous instances of issues with the admins and Oilerator, Haida once again declared independence from Cascadia after a vote by Haida MPPs (town mayors). Haida is well-known for its well-maintained parkland and forests.
History
Haida is technically a continuation of a nation founded in the spring of 2019 by 32Oreo and his friends. The original nation, known as "Athabasca" was founded with the capital of Swanavon where the town of "Fairview" in the nation of Alberta now stands. The nation was originally founded with the expectation of creating a busy & powerful trading hub, with various public utilities available in addition to shopping to generate traffic. The project began with the construction of a central square, an administration building and a full-sized PVP arena. However, after most of these projects had been completed, the overall project stagnated and the user in charge of construction had a change of priorities and was unable to continue. This led the nation to stagnate as a semi-inactive district of Cascadia.
In late 2019, 32Oreo called upon a moderator to transfer control of the nation to him, relocate the capital to his town in Masset and rename the nation to Haida. The moderator obliged and Haida came into existence, controlling two towns, Masset & Swanavon at its foundation. This change of leadership led the users formerly involved in the Athabasca project to re-join for a short burst of renewed activity, which led Masset to be completely redeveloped into a port capital with plentiful space for small shops, as well as tourism opportunities in the vast unspoiled wilderness.
Haida re-joined Cascadia on 1 February 2020, though this reunion was short-lived. On 9 February 2020, 32Oreo was accused of conspiring against the Federal Government of Cascadia, and on 10 February 2020, 32Oreo declared Haida's independence once again, adding to the ever-growing list of breakaway nations from Cascadia.
In early 2020, OreoToast of Haida led the creation of a regional alliance known as the Sunset Confederacy, which stood as a faction in the Cascadian Civil War at first against Cascadia and later against Washington and Rio. As the civil conflict dragged on, and with the addition of what was deemed to be an unreasonable demand of payment of 100G per nation in the Sunset Confederacy by the Rio Commonwealth, the alliance started to fray, with some member states becoming tired of the war and more open to giving in to the demands. In April of 2020, Haida severed its ties with the Sunset Confederacy following payment of over 200G to the Rio Commonwealth by Sunset Confederacy member states.
After Haida left the Sunset Confederacy, it rejoined Cascadia on May 7th, 2020 and remained a province of Cascadia until January 2021 when it once again declared independence from Cascadia. While Haida was in Cascadia, the beginning of a long period of internal development began. This primarily began with the purchase of the former nation of Yukon in August, 2020 for 400 gold, giving Haida its first mainland territory. In the time following the acquisition of Yukon, a number of BC interior towns were acquired, including Valkyria, Achilla and Ba Sing Se.
In October of 2020. Dornan announced the creation of his own Province, Columbia, which would initially include the towns of Valkyria, Achilla and Ba Sing Se. This resulted in 32Oreo removing these towns from the Province and reducing Haida back down to 4 towns and a population of 8.
In January 2021, Haida declared independence for a third time, with 32Oreo citing real life issues as the primary motive.
On February 2nd, 2021 newly appointed King, Oilerator, rejoined Cascadia to settle a dispute caused by Fractured_Soul breaking terms that were set for him when buying Rose Harbour as he had left the nation of Haida and refused to rejoin. This lead to Haida declaring war on Cascadia but it resulted in 0 casulaties and no damage.
In April 2021, Haida dissolved and united with the Cascadian Province of Columbia to form the Province of Columbia & Haida Gwaii within Cascadia. This union did not last very long, as 32Oreo decided to retire from EMC, and Oilerator was designated as the Governor of Haida. In June 2021, Oilerator decided to leave the union as he felt it was useless and that Haida did not benefit from the union and it again became an indpendent province of Cascadia.
In December of 2021, after Oilerator was banned from the Cascadia Discord by x_Best_Name_Everx for "previous stuff", Oilerator posted a referendum on whether or not Haida should remain within Cascadia, or become an indepdnent nation. Independence won the vote 4-2 and Haida officially declared independence from Cascadia again on December 12th, 2021 at 9:08 PM Mountain Standard Time. The banning of Oilerator was simply the final straw for Haida after he, and other Haida mayors believed that Cascadia had become weak and was not sustainable, as well as the admins of the Cascadia Discord falling into their own little echo chamber and straight up ignoring the Cascadia constitution when it came into enforcing their arbitrary and vague rules.
Politics
Haida as a nation is administered as a monarchy due to it's low population, which has been effective and has led to Haida being able to stand its ground even when caught in the crossfire of a war taking place on the mainland.
Haida has had an interesting political history, starting with its creation and reorganization as a new nation. Haida later expressed interest in re-joining Cascadia but hesitated. In early 2020, Haida re-joined Cascadia but quickly left due to the changing political environment within Cascadia. However, just a few months later, on May 7th, 2020, Haida rejoined Cascadia and became Cascadia's 8th province.
The Kingdom of Haida was a member of the United Nations and seeked improved relations with its neighbours, and in late April of 2020 started talks with Kaska and Glacier Bay to establish a regional alliance of Pacific Northwest island nations, however, this did not happen as Haida rejoined Cascadia.
On September 4th, 2020, the Province of Haida established a provincial legislature for provincial political issues. Each town mayor of Haida, as well as then Deputy Governor Oilerator were assigned as Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP). It uses essentially the same format as the Cascadian parliament, where any MPP could propose a change in the parliament and all the MPPs vote on whether or not the change shall be implemented. This is still in place today as part of the monarchy and are now just known as MPs (Members of Parliament).

Incorporated
Masset
Masset is Haida's capital town, being founded by 32Oreo originally at the site of Port Clements today. The current town was settled prior to 32Oreo's arrival on the island of Haida Gwaii by Multicody10 and TheFirstHourrr under the name of Kiusta. It grew gradually to encompass the northern portion of Haida Gwaii. It is the tourism and economic hub for the Kingdom.
Rose Harbour
Rose Harbour is the second largest town in Haida, being founded by KingBerman in late 2019. It has transferred mayorship a number of times throughout its existence, finally returning to KingBerman in late 2020. It was then given to Fractured_Soul as he claimed he was looking to settle down and get away from the busy life of Cascadia, instead, Frac turned around and outright ignored terms that he had agreed to and join the Cascadian Province of Columbia and refused to rejoin unless Haida rejoined Cascadia, which it had no choice but to agree to in order to get the town back. The town has been owned by Rudolf_Hoess even since. The town plays host to Haida Gwaii's largest port
Skeena
Skeena is a town incorporated with effectively zero population, playing host to most of Haida's industrial capacity. A number of redstone powered automated farms and Cascadia's largest concrete factory are in Skeena. It is connected to HaidaTransit's ice metro network.
Montes Negros
Montes Negros is a town located in a strategic location for Haida, as it is next to a large disputed territory with the Japanese Colony of Prince George. Haida claims the site of the fallen town of Cassiar, which was 32Oreo's first town. The town was purchased by Haida from Columbia for 160 gold on June 11, 2021.
Yakutat
Yakutat is a small town in Alaska, slightly north of Tlingit and to the east of Cordova and Russian Alaska. It was founded on August 20th, 2021 on the ruins of the old Yakutat by CannonBoy with the help of BigBroPro0425, it joined Haida the same day and is currently under redevelopment by CannonBoy.
Hydaburg
Hydaburg was founded on April 8th, 2022 by Mihailovic after he left his town in Madagascar. It is located on Prince of Wales Island near the ruins of Sitka, Kaska and more recently Port Rico, Haida. It is now the largest and most populous town in Haida
Kitimat
Kitimat was settled by unknown users sometime in 2019, before becoming abandoned. It was originally known as "New Amsterdam" before being taken over by Cascadia and later Haida. An actual town was created there in November 2021 by Quirkless, though they made a spelling mistake and named it "Kitmat" as opposed to "Kitimat", that town has joined Haida. A number of small houses along with a large utility building currently exist on the site that still remain from the old Kitimat. It is transited by the Trans Cascadia Highway.
Cordova
Cordova is a town in Southern Alaska that borders the Evergreen Province of Russian Alaska. It was created there by TetanicWindow84 after he relocated from his old town of Fargo which fell outside of Haida's borders and since he wanted to be part of Haida this was the only option. It was the cause of a territorial dispute with Russian Alaska because they believed the town was maliciously placed even though that was nobody's intention in Haida. The dispute was solved diplomatically with a new border agreement that leaves a 2 chunk buffer zone in between the 2 nations. It is now mayored by BareNare as TetanicWindow84 left Haida
Unincorporated
Terrace
Terrace is an undeveloped locality at a turn in the Trans Cascadia Highway just north of Kitimat. It was used as a staging point for highway development in the area, but has not been used in a while as highway development in the area is complete.
North Point
North Point is an unincorporated locality within Masset's claims. It houses Haida Forest Products Ltd.'s mill as well as a ferry to Skeena.
South Point
South Point is an unincorporated settlement within Rose Harbour's claims. It has one of Haida's port of entry customs offices and ferry service to Haida's mainland region and the Port of Athlone.
Sandspit
Sandspit is an unincorporated settlement within Masset's claims. It serves as a staging location for domestic fishing.
Port Clements
Port Clements is an unincorporated settlement within Masset's claims. It is the site of the original settlement run by 32Oreo. It serves as Haida's primary agricultural production town.
Military
Haida maintains a small armed force consisting of effectively its entire population for purposes of national defence, the Haida Defence Force (HDF). The HDF has seen frontline service in two major conflicts, the Cascadian Civil War and the Cascadian Invasion of Alaskan Union. The HDF was told to prepare for a potential conflict with Russian Alaska during the height of the Haida-Russian Alaska border dispute but fortunetaly the ordeal was solved diplomatically. The Haida Defence Force acts as a national police service in peacetime.
The HDF also maintains naval elements, operating the HMS Masset and HMS Charlotte patrol vessels in its territorial waters.
Geography & Resources
Haida is a rocky, but heavily forested nation. Most of Haida's original forest still stands and has been expanded through human efforts. Resources such as gravel, coal and iron are in abundance below the nation, leading to an expansive network of mines administered by the nationally owned Haida Mine Company.
Most of Haida Gwaii is hilly, with many fjords breaking great distances into the coast. There are areas where the west coast and east coast are less than 20 blocks apart from each other, in the middle of the island.
Anthem
On September 25, 2020, the parliament of Haida approved the "Haida Anthem Act" proposed by Deputy Governor Oilerator to adopt an official anthem of the Province. The anthem is titled "Haida Gwaii Is Calling" and is by Randall Kimball. It talks about the archipelago of Haida Gwaii and its scenery, history and geography.
Transportation
Haida is connected via a network of highways and iceways. Every town is connected by at least a highway and the towns currently connected by iceway are Masset, Rose Harbour, Hydaburg and Skeena.
HaidaTransit Ice Metro:
The HaidaTransit Ice Metro is an ice metro that is being developed mostly by the government of Haida. It currently connects several towns in the PNW. It currently connects the nations of Haida, Columbia, Cascadia, and the Evergreen Province of Tlingit and has future plans to connect to Alberta's ice metro system.
