Acadia, officially the Republic of Acadia, is a nation on Terra Nostra primarily located in the maritime provinces of Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, & PEI) with territory extending into Western Newfoundland, the St Lawrence watershed (Southern Quebec and Southeastern Ontario), Labrador, and parts of New England (including Maine). The nation was founded on April 21st, 2026, 4 days after Terra Nostra's April 17th premium launch. The nation's first town was Halifax, founded several hours after the server’s launch, and Canseau serves as the primary executive & legislative capital, while Saint_John holds the nation's supreme court.
The flag of Acadia has two red squares and two blue squares, to symbolize the mixed French and English heritage of the nation. As per the Acadian National Identity Act, each square also has a symbol representing one of the distinct groups of people who founded Acadia:
- The star represents the people from the Terra Nova nation of Acadia, and is a symbol of the Acadian flag in real life
- The maple leaf represents the people from Canada in Terra Aurora, including Cascadia and Laurentia (from which the nations of Vermont and Manicouagan arose)
- The knot motif represents the people from the Terra Aurora nation of Baltic
- The swirl represents the people from the Terra Aurora nation of Havaiki
History
Provisional Government
Acadia was primarily founded by a small group hailing from Cascadia on Terra Aurora though the group's history can be traced back to the Aurora nations of Manicouagan, Havaiki, Baltic, Cascadia, and Vermont as well as the Nova nation of Acadia.
The Provisional Government of Acadia, formed de facto March 13th, 2026 and dissolved May 4th of that year, helped facilitate starting border agreements and the organization of mining efforts for the 5,120 gold required to create the in game nation. It was established before an official government could be convened and consisted of 10 individuals (Ahea, Xultimate, Slimdude, Cleandemon, Dracnoian, MasterEWild, GuyWithALife, Xeocas, Farosh, and Capitanfra) but was eventually expanded to a group of 18 (Capitanfra, GuyWithALife, MasterEWild, Xeocas, Xultimate, Dracnoian, Ahea, ka_tie, Cleandemon, Fly (Bergenline), Melvinm04, MMMeslina, MozneFoxant, pa_vie, Farosh, Princeling7, SirMikieu, and FoxClient). Several of these individuals hailed from the planned Nostra nation of Cariboo when many members decided to join Acadia instead.
The Start of the Server
On April 17th, 2026, the Terra Nostra server officially opened for premium players and many members of Acadia (and friends) gathered in the 'Early access VC' on the Acadian discord.
In order to create the first Acadian towns, the group had to first reach Nova Scotia as quickly as possible, which relied purely on luck as players spawned in random locations across the map. MasterEWild, spawning around the Midwest of America, was the closest to Nova Scotia. Thus, as other members of the group started to mine and gear up, he boated across many rivers in an attempt to reach Nova Scotia as quickly as possible. After several hours, the town of New York City was founded, which allowed the Acadian group to spawn in NYC instead of travelling (including MasterEWild who had not yet reached Nova Scotia). Shortly after, they reached Nova Scotia by boat, and Halifax was founded by MasterEWild and later transferred to Farosh.
As the first Acadian town had been founded and all members had reached the area, the group went off to explore and found their own towns with many Acadian towns being founded that day. The first five Acadian towns, in order (first-last), are as follows:
- Halifax (founded by MasterEWild)
- Canseau (capital founded by Ahea)
- Beacon (founded by MasterEWild)
- Montreal (founded by Princeling)
- Micoua (founded by ka_tie)
The Nation's Official Founding
Due to the high cost of creating a nation on Terra Nostra (5120 gold) it took 4 days of extensive mining to pool together enough funds to create the nation. On April 21st, 2026, the goal was reached and Acadia was officially founded by Ahea.
Text version of above image:
"We, the citizens of the towns of Canseau, Halifax, Charlottetown, Micoua, Montreal, Gilded Bay, Beacon, and Stormhaven, having formed a Provisional Government, and acting in the name of and by the authority of the good people of Acadia, hereby declare the establishment of the Republic of Acadia – dedicated to liberty, democracy, independence, and peace in the spirit of solidarity."
Constitution of Acadia
Following an official Constitutional Convention held in Canseau and a national referendum ending in 92.3% support, the Constitution of Acadia, written by Farosh, was ratified on April 27th, 2026. This meant that the Provisional Government could soon be dissolved and elections could be held. The following announcement was made on discord by Farosh_ soon after:
"It is my honour to announce the ratification of the Constitution of the Republic of Acadia.
After six months of drafting and debate, the referendum to approve the document passed overwhelmingly, with 92.3% in favour, exceeding the threshold required for the Constitution to enter into law.
True democracy on EarthMC, however, is not only established by constitutional order; we must strive to ensure that every corner of Acadian society, every mayor, resident, and town, feels the tangible benefits of freedom by being given the opportunity to climb the rungs of the ladder and to overcome our differences.
We have once again lit the beacon of democracy on the east coast of North America. Thank you to everyone who attended the Constitutional Convention and made their vote count; this Constitution will guide Acadia far into the future.
L'Union Fait la Force - Unity Makes Strength"

Government of Acadia
Executive Branch
Acadia follows the governmental system of a semi-presidential republic, meaning the executive consists of an elected President (with a term of two months) and an appointed Prime Minister. In this system, the Prime Minister primarily manages partition politics rather than the President.
The Prime Minister may nominate a Council of Ministers which is approved or denied by the President. Pursuant to the Government of Acadia Act, promulgated on May 7th, 2026, the President has the authority, upon countersignature from the Prime Minister, to establish or dissolve Departments without an act of Parliament. The following are the current Departments established by the first President of Acadia, each with their own Ministers:
- Department of Foreign Affairs
- Department of Culture
- Department of Finance
- Department of the Interior
- Department of Defense
- Department of Justice (established by an Act of Parliament)
Legislative Branch
The Legislative Branch of Acadia is the Parliament, or House of Assembly, of Acadia. The House of Assembly is responsible for the creation of laws and consists of MPs who are elected each month from various electoral districts.
According to the House Rules of Acadia, the House of Assembly elects a Speaker and Clerk at the start of each term. The Speaker is a neutral role, responsible for keeping order and being the House's delegated member of the electoral commission. To maintain neutrality, the Speaker does not vote. The Clerk of the House is responsible for maintaining accurate voting records.
The office of Doyen is also established by the House Rules, being the most senior member of the House of Assembly. The Doyen is responsible for running internal elections.
Currently, there are 12 seats in the Second Legislature of Acadia, split evenly between the electoral districts of Metro and Great North.
Judicial Branch
The Supreme Court of Acadia consists of 2 Associate Justices and one Chief Justice, for a total of 3 Justices who are nominated by the President of Acadia and confirmed by the House of Assembly. Unlike in the IRL United States or most other democratic EarthMC nations, Acadian Justices do not serve for life, instead serving only 6 month terms. As per the Acadian Judiciary Act, the Acadian supreme court has original jurisdiction over all criminal and civil cases, and appellate jurisdiction over all rulings made by executive or legislative boards.
The Acadian Judiciary Act also establishes the Department of Justice which holds the sole prosecutorial authority in Acadia.
The President also appoints, with the advice and consent of the House of Assembly, an Ombudsman for a term of 3 months. The Ombudsman serves as a public defender for the people of Acadia.

Administrative & Electoral Divisions
Last updated: 29 June 06:56 UTC
Acadia is currently divided into two electoral divisions, Metro and Great North, which further subdivide into wards (for statistical purposes only). These electoral divisions are constructed by combining the regions of Acadia, and are created every electoral cycle by the electoral commission (consisting of the Chief Justice, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, and the Ombudsman). Whenever a parliamentary election is held, each electoral division can elect a set number of MPs to represent it in the Parliament. Only residents of an electoral division can run to represent that division in Parliament and vote for its candidates.
The regions of Acadia also serve as administrative and statistical subdivisions, much like states in the USA or provinces in Canada. They are created/abolished by the Parliament, and are composed of multiple towns. As per the Region Act, every region is entitled to a Regional Council which is made up of one representative from each town and convenes whenever any funding is received, allowing funds to be distributed fairly and equitably.
