The Polar Independence Entente is a political party formed from the former Antarctic Sovereignty Party following Polar unification. Their central philosophy is the "Five Sovereignties" of player, town, nation, Republic, and Poles. They are committed primarily to Pan-Polarism, disentanglement from foreign conflicts, and the self-government rights of Republic members.

History

In late November 2023, concerned about growing interventionism and expansionism in the government, Admiral Kurtz formed the Antarctic Sovereignty Party. Following the success of the Polar unification referendum, this party was reorganized as the Polar Independence Entente. The party's principles were somewhat reformed to reflect the Polar nature of the new state, but this mostly just involved expansion of Antarctic distinctives to new Arctic members. Otherwise, the party persisted in its anti-interventionist and anti-expansionist stance, as well as championing self-government and personal liberties within the Republic.

As of December 4th, Admiral Kurtz is the party's only member of the Assembly and only candidate in the December elections, running for prime minister.

Philosophy

The Polar Independence Entente's philosophy is built around the "Five Sovereignties," asserting the freedom from excessive outside interference for players, towns, nations, the Republic, and of the Polar regions. For players, this means a broadly libertarian approach to rights, minimizing the positive duties of the Republic in favor of leaving players to their own plans and expression. Towns and "nations" are promised non-interference in their internal affairs, including their form of government. Notable, the party uses the language of "nations" rather than "provinces," seeing the official use of the latter term as potential hostile to self-government. The sovereignty of the Republic is understood as preserved through non-interventionism and avoiding overseas commitments, permitting the Republic to choose its own course without obligations to outsiders. Finally, the Poles are seen as a distinctive region and "meta-culture" which should be peaceably integrated into the Republic and guarded from outside interference.

Fleshing out the doctrine of the "Five Sovereignties," PIE outlines three additional sub-philosophies. "Polar Neo-Monroeism" applies something like the American Monroe doctrine to the Poles, seeking integration of the Poles and preventing outside interference. "Esoteric Liberal Conservatism" combines a classically liberal view of personal freedoms and democratic government with a conservative attitude towards preserving political institutions and the customs and particularities of all Republic members. "Democratic Monarchism," perhaps the weirdest of the three, calls for the fervent preservation of the direct democracy system but also the establishment of a ceremonial monarch, likely a retired senior statesman, as a symbol of the Republic (still regarded as a Republic since the monarch belongs to the government which belongs to the people, not the other way around).

Admiral Kurtz has clarified that the Party believes in individual conscience and nobody is obliged to believe everything the Party as a whole encourages. Further, she has promoted the idea of PIE serving as a vehicle for "reformers of unusual perspectives" and "crackpots" seeking a welcoming coalition, further defining the Party's platform more as guidelines than actual rules.
