Overview

Template:TownTemplate Rajkot is a mid-sized town located on the Kathiawar Peninsula on the western coast of the Indian Subcontinent. Since early 2020, it has belonged to the nation of Gujarat, and has remained under the same jurisdiction for years. It has undergone three periods of activity ("revitalizations") and three periods of inactivity. It is currently in its third dormancy period, and travel conditions are relatively safe.

Rajkot has previously been a part of India and Gujarat. It has had two mayors and two known councillors.

History

Rajkot Under Socialist India

QuinnLand

Before February 2020, Rajkot was not known by this name. Rather, it was called "QuinnLand", and it was created by an unknown user on November 9th, 2019. Upon establishment, the town immediately joined India, becoming the ninth town to do so. It was by no means a large town, as written records indicate that it had 20 chunks at most. The highest written record of QuinnLand's population was up to 14 residents, most of whom were inactive.

Throughout its existence, QuinnLand was by far one of the most underdeveloped sites in all of India. For months, there were no ice boat routes that connected it to the rest of the world, all of the town's valuables were locked away in an armory that was only accessible to some, building materials and food were scarce, and there were only a few basic structures that didn't fit properly into the chunk grid. The largest building at the time was a mob spawner built in the center of the town, and the entire property was surrounded in a great wooden wall that anyone could easily penetrate. This wall cut through the town center and housed a clearing for a small residential subdivision and a mine entrance.

For this reason, most of the town refused to go online, ending QuinnLand's only chance of becoming a fruitful city. Occasionally, residents would log in to build themselves a house, but the population continued to dwindle over a couple of months. At this point, the original mayor of QuinnLand had been offline for more than seven weeks, and the title was automatically handed to the last person in the town who was active: Mapscientist.

Mapscientist was a new player who had joined EarthMC on September 11, 2019. He had very little experience and interest in the towny server at the time, as he spent this period on his faction. While QuinnLand was perishing, he had no idea that he was suddenly the owner of a town. He was, however, a Senator, because he was the only person from QuinnLand to join the Indian Discord server. Map would be almost completely inactive on the towny server during the month of December, and on the 11th of January, 2020, he would find that he was now the official mayor of QuinnLand.

QuinnLand's Complete Reformation

After assuming the role of the new mayor, Mapscientist immediately began a project to entirely rebuild the town of QuinnLand. He believed that the walls around it inhibited the town's growth, and they reduced the quality of the town as a whole. Construction of ice highways to QuinnLand would continue, and some buildings would be torn down or remade. Some ideas would be kept, like the animal farm in the city's center, and even today, the stone bricks that covered the ground of the city center are still there. On top of all this, Map wanted to rename the city to be more geographically accurate, and the two best choices based on this factor were Diu and Rajkot. Because Rajkot was so close and is the largest city in the region, this name was settled on, and as of February 10, QuinnLand was no more.

Rajkot's Departure from India

On February 29, 2020, war between India and the Maurya Dynasty broke out. Battles took place in the nearby cities of Ahmedabad and Roruka. Fearing the conflict would approach Rajkot, Map closed the ice highways and erected walls around the town, similarly to how QuinnLand did. While Map was killed in an altercation in Roruka, no opposing soldiers entered Rajkot, though some were close. After the signing of the Treaty of Bhuj on March 10, the conflict was resolved, and Rajkot was no longer threatened. However, on the 28th, Emperor LordHashbrown would announce that he would sell India and move to Australia. Days earlier, a nearby nation, Arabia, was being given to Yemen, who now owned India as well. Because India was beginning to fall apart, Indian7p was gathering funds to buy Arabia himself, and asked Map to join him in his new nation, which he agreed to if he was ever active again.

On April 11, Mapscientist would hand Rajkot to indian7p, and become Gujarat's newest town.
