The name Mossau is derived from the name Mossow, which was the town's official name from 3rd December 2019 to May 2021. The town was initially meant to be named ''Mossnow'' or ''Mossoschnee'', however, due to Diamant failing to spell the name correctly when entering the creation-command, the town ended up being named Mossow. Diamant liked the name and stuck with it.
