Seattle (Nova)
Seattle is a city in the Pacific Northwest and is the capital of British Columbia. It is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest by chunk size as of 1/8/2022. The current mayor is cheeseballfluffy, while previous mayors include MyHomeAddress, JTPilfered, bw3434, and Pieguy75. It is also one of the three federal capitals of the Evergreen Republic.
History
The current iteration of Seattle was founded on December 27, 2019, by JTPilfered after the fall of the previous Seattle. Before JTPilfered arrived, there had been 2 towns in the area before, being Snohomish and the previous Seattle, which was originally founded by mayor cheeseballfluffy and bw3434. Most of the area that is now the eastern area of Seattle were remnants from the previous Seattle and Snohomish. Almost all of these remnants, such as an underground storage unit of the now defunct Snohomish, are destroyed.
The city joined the Republic of Cascadia soon after it's founding and began work on Interstate 5, which to this day is the major artery through the districts of Tacoma, Downtown, and the Skagit Valley. It consists of an elevated iceway above an open walkway/road underneath. Some of the first things to be constructed in Seattle were the Columbia Center, the Recruitment Center (now the Salish Ministry of Recruitment), Seattle Center, and the Space Needle.
During early February, JTPilfered along with other members of Cascadia had communications showing their distaste with the current government and how it was run. This led to the separation of Winthrop, Schaumberg, Bend, Seattle, and the neighbouring town of Wenatchee from Cascadia to form the Salish Federation, which is based on the core principle of democracy. Wenatchee was based as the capital of this new nation with a majority of the population of Salish being in Wenatchee.
After this, Washington and the Rio Grande started many attacks against the Salish Federation and their allies, see more about this in Cascadian Civil War or Salish Federation. During the month of March, JTPilfered was the Chancellor of the Salish Federation. It was also during this time that construction began on the City Hall and the Tacoma Dome.
On April 1, JTPilfered and the town of Seattle left the Salish Federation due to the fact that Salish was suffering from immense inactivity, and the nation bonus was decreasing steadily. Seattle joined the State of Jefferson, which emerged from a similar standpoint as Salish and had its capital in Lakeview. During this period Seattle saw massive growth, with the population skyrocketing from 2 people on April 1st to more than 15 people less than 2 days later. This period also saw the claiming of the Kitsap Peninsula which was something that JTP had wanted to for a while. Seattle's tenure with Jefferson only lasted for 19 days, as the Chancellor of Salish (SayerQT) ended up constructing a deal with Vorobyevite (Founder of Salish, Mayor of Wenatchee), JTPilfered, and NoneAvailable (a councillor in Lakeview) that transferred the capital of the Salish Federation from Wenatchee to Seattle, giving an active player (JTPilfered) the ability to control Salish in-game instead of an inactive player like Vorobyevite. This deal also gave Wenatchee to Jefferson.
Current Day
Today, Seattle is a former bustling hub of 100 people and was previously the most populous city in the Pacific Northwest. In present day however, very little activity stems out of the town. Mayor JTPilfered went into a hibernation as of 2022; cheeseballflluffy is the only active citizen. Since rejoining Salish (now British Columbia), it has developed the Kitsap District into a new residential area as well as having a large shopping center at the National Spawn in the Tacoma Dome. JTPilfered was permanently deleted from EMC after being offline for 42 days on April 10, 2022. Seattle resident MyHomeAddress took control of the town, however was not in contact with the Federal or provincial government, and on May 4, 2022, MyHomeAddress resigned as Mayor after much public pressure from both inside the town and outside the town, and cheeseballfluffy was inaugurated as Mayor of Seattle.
Players JTPilfered, sayerQT, and xGoat_ worked on a project in the Tacoma Dome of a giant 1:4 scale map of the entire pacific northwest. This was finished on May 1 and became the second biggest in-game map in all of EarthMC.
The seat of the Executive Branch of the Evergreen Republic, the Palace of the Republic, is located in the Tacoma District of Seattle.
The Districts of Seattle
Seattle has 4 districts, all in the four corners of Seattle.
Downtown Seattle
Downtown Seattle, in the eastern section of the town, is the oldest and most developed district. It holds some of Seattle's most iconic and tallest buildings, such as the Space Needle, Seattle Center, the Ministry for Recruitment, the City Ice Building, and the MMM Tower. It also hosts some of the region's ice roads connecting neighboring towns.
Tacoma
A smaller district in the southern part of the city near Olympia, Tacoma holds the national spawn, the Tacoma Dome, as well as the Palace of the Republic, which currently serves as the seat of the Executive Branch of the Evergreen Republic as well as the Presidency; but at other periods in time has also housed the Salish Parliament. The Seattle City Hall is also one of the only spiral buildings in EMC. Tacoma also features the Amazon Doppler Tower and the Amazon Biospheres which group together to form the Amazon Headquarters Complex. The Doppler is the only skyscraper in Seattle that instead of being built by JTPilfered was built by the residents.
Kitsap Peninsula
The largest district by landmass and claim size, the Kitsap Peninsula stretches into the Puget Sound to the west. This district features interweaving canals that are moulded to the shape of the Kitsap Peninsula, as well as considerable greenery and nature, and high-rise apartment buildings and skyscrapers that fit into the surroundings. It is under development.
Skagit Valley
The Skagit Valley District is the smallest district and is right on the edge between Seattle and the wilderness towards Bellingham. This district is still highly undeveloped except for the Columbia Centre, which is one of the tallest buildings in the Evergreen Republic at Y=230.
Government
Seattle operates as a municipality within the Province of British Columbia, which itself is one of the 20 federated provinces which make up the Evergreen Republic. Therefore, Seattle enjoys much political and social freedom, as it is under the authority of two democratic governments, provincial and federal; with both Federal and provincial Elections occurring every month. Seattle is represented by 1 member in the Provincial Parliament of British Columbia, and by 1 member in the Assembly of the Evergreen Republic.
Local government in Seattle operates under broadly Democratic Principles, with the Mayor being subject to the court of public opinion in the city. The mayor's power is often counteracted with the City Council of Seattle, which is currently in its 182nd Session. There have been 5 mayors throughout the history of Seattle. The current mayor is cheeseballfluffy after taking over as Mayor after the resignation of Mayor MyHomeAddress on May 4, 2022. The most influential mayor of Seattle was by far JTPilfered, who was mayor for nearly 2.5 years and personally constructed most of the town.
