Albany

Albany is the capital city and district of the Kingdom of Borneo. Its current iteration was created on May 1, 2022 though its original iteration on Terra Nova was founded on February 12, 2021. Albany is equally considered a city and an ethno-state, encompassing many generations of players and its own cross-server community, known as Albanites. It has a rich history, and has been subject to several different nations, including the United States and New York, Imperial Quebec, and recently Indochina. It has been in a state of diaspora since the beginning of Terra Aurora, with much of its original membership living on the island of Borneo. Several attempts have been made to re-establish Albany in its original location, though all have failed. It became the sovereign mother city of Borneo following the Indochinese Civil War.
Albany is controlled by the dynastic Volkov family, and the current leader is AdrianHES. As of March 25, 2025, it had 98 residents.
History
Albany was created by AdrianHES on February 12, 2021. It was funded by New York leader Lucas2011 as a means of expanding America's geopolitical control northward, during the Cold War between the United States and the North American Pact. It existed as a subject of New York until May 2021, when it became the spawning ground for a resistance movement against the American government and Lucas2011. Following AdrianHES' crusade against the government, and the subsequent Rawhide leak, Albany's control was given to BetaCheese and it fell around a month later.
Albany was revived in August 2021 and became a subject of Imperial Quebec. AdrianHES later became Prime Minister of Quebec through the Solidarity Party, and a member of the Quebec nobility. It survived as one of the most populated towns in Quebec until the server reset in May 2022.
In the dawn of Terra Aurora, Albany was founded on the island of Borneo as a subject of Indochina (many Indochinese leaders were members of Quebec royalty). AdrianHES helped build the town up, but also transitioned the Volkov Family into an organized crime entity responsible for extortion and gold duping. He later got banned on November 11, 2022 for evidence forgery, and the town leadership transitioned to BattingSine.
BattingSine led the town throughout the remainder of 2022, much of 2023, and 2024. Adrian was given mayorship temporarily several times, but abdicated it. Loganslair served as mayor from mid-2024 until March 24, 2025 when it was transferred back to AdrianHES. During the leadership of BattingSine and Loganslair, Albany achieved hundreds of residents, immense economic growth, and the creation of a nation - Borneo - during the Indochinese Civil War.
