Overview
The Republic of Cascadia, commonly known as Cascadia, was a country primarily located in the Pacific Northwest of North America. It consisted of 20 provinces at its peak, including the exclaves of Bhutan, Greenland, Texas, and Nauru. Cascadia shared land borders with Alberta, Salish, and Jefferson, among others. With more than 800 people, it was the fourth most populous country in the world. The national capital was in Astoria, Oregon, and the most populous city was Nord, Greenland.
The nation was founded by RangerMK01 on December 11, 2018. During 2019, Cascadia pursued a policy of rapid expansionism, quickly controlling all coastal territory from San Diego to Anchorage. This was strongly influenced by the United States of America's policy in manifest destiny, with Cascadian nationalists pushing to admit new provinces every month. By June 2019, Cascadia had gained several exclaves, most notable of which being New York and Florida. In August, the New York Riots and subsequent massacre led to disillusionment in the eastern provinces, with them peacefully seceding from Cascadia. During early 2020, internal disputes over democratic backsliding led to the Salish-Cascadian Split, with several cities in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia declaring independence and forming the Salish Confederation. The Republic of Cascadia and Salish Confederation established themselves as the two superpowers in the Pacific Northwest. During the Salish-Washingtonian war, Cascadia pursued a policy of isolationism. Both Salish and Cascadia avoided direct military conflict, resulting in a cold war that would last over a year. In late 2021, both nations began to pursue a policy of détente, leading to the end of the cold war and eventual reunification. On February 14th, 2022, the Republic of Cascadia and Salish Confederation united to form the Evergreen Republic.
The Republic of Cascadia was a federal republic with three separate branches of government, including a unicameral legislature. Presidential elections were held every month, with senators and governors occupying permanent positions. It was a founding member in the North American Pact, Pacific Pact, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and other international organizations. The Republic of Cascadia was a liberal democracy; it ranked high in international measures of political and economic freedom, civil rights, and quality of life. It also had high levels of economic inequality, political instability and administrative overreach, with progressives and conservatives threatening to split the country apart several times. Cascadia had a fair degree of corruption, as people that owned towns automatically received a seat in the Senate.
The Republic of Cascadia was a highly developed country, with a national gold reserve of over 3000 ingots at the time of reunification, along with several thousand divided by provinces. Cascadia's provinces varied greatly in terms of economic success - some provinces, like Greenland and Wyoming, had a very high GDP from efficient automatic farms (like the Nord ice farm) and a large, active population. Other provinces, like Bhutan, had a very low GDP due to inactivity and a low population. Although other nations like Quebec and Britain had larger gold reserves, Cascadia's unique democratic principles led to increased immigration and activity compared to that of wealthier monarchies.
History
Early History
Before the nation of Cascadia was founded, there was the town of Astoria. Founded in the Beginning era, on November 26th, it is the oldest surviving town in the Pacific Northwest. Although Cascadia did not exist in the first few weeks, the idea was already conceptualized. The founders envisioned the birth of a democratic nation that would unite the region. Thus sparked the creation of Cascadia.
The Cascadian Experiment - December 2018
Formation of a Nation
Cascadia was a four-way creation between the players RangerMK01, Banthos, Kathulos, and Think Geek. Because the cost of nations was cheaper during the inception of the server, it took only a short while to acquire the materials. After a few days of raising funds for the nation, its founding members had enough to create Cascadia.
The capital was initially intended to be Olympia, but Banthos, the mayor, was accidentally banned after he was falsely accused of doxxing. And so, the nation of Cascadia was founded on the 11th of December, 2018, by RangerMK01, with its capital in Astoria.
Creation of a Discord
The newly made nation needed a discord server, and one was created. The first message was by Morthalis, at 09:15 PM, Dec 11th, "Long live Cascadia!". The discord quickly grew, including the mayors of the towns, as well as the other national leaders.
January Expansion
Growth of Cascadia
Other nations such as California, which had been founded the month before, dominated the area South of the nation. After a few days, however, it became apparent Cascadia was outpacing its neighbor California, to the dismay of No_Jewtsu, the leader of the nation. California suffered its own issues that month, with the succession and break-away of nations such as Arizona, and the towns of Lompoc and San Diego as well.
February
SalC1 Gold Duplications
In a video by Minecraft YouTuber SalC1 published on the 14th of February, he traveled to Astoria to inflate the economy by duplicating and distributing gold while using an invisibility potion. The many stacks SalC1 gave out caused confusion among the several players online at the time.
One of SalC1's victims was Code456, founder of Port Angeles. Another was Hack3ermann, a founding member of Cascadia. CodeNameW and Silent_Dirt were also given a stack of gold blocks.
Rapid Growth
Through the summer of 2019, Cascadia underwent rapid growth. It admitted several new districts over a short span of time and expanded both its landmass and its political influence several-fold.

The Great Collapse - August 2019
Second New York Riot
On the 9th of August, 2019, a riot broke out in New York, which at that time was a member district of Cascadia. Owners of plots in highly trafficked areas of New York enabled PVP and began a killing spree which led to the deaths of many players who showed up to participate in the New York riot, which later came to be known as the "Second New York Riot". The crowds later dispersed and the riot came to an end.
Trial of Unbated & Captainb4
On 11 August, two days following the Second New York Riot on the 9th, the users involved in the mass killings in New York were identified as Captainb4 and Unbated. A trial was held in the Supreme Court of Cascadia (Cascadia v
Unbated and Captainb4). The court found both of these players guilty of murder and inciting violence and both were required to pay a fine to the state as instigators. The trial was presided over by 32Oreo.
Overextension & Collapse
Following the trial, many leaders of Cascadia's newly admitted districts & territories felt that the Government of Cascadia had overstepped its powers in prosecuting Captainb4 & Unbated. This led to a cascading effect of many districts leaving Cascadia, including all of Cascadia's east coast territories and a number of southwestern territories.
The Great Cascadian Schism
In late August 2019, the Republic of Cascadia underwent a fracturing of the internal government, with a breakaway sect looking to establish Cascadia as an empire. This breakaway sect has led to an internal crisis with two factions of supporters supporting both the establishment of a Cascadian Empire and the continued existence of the Republic of Cascadia.
After 2 days of a tense standoff between the two sides, the breakaway "empire" sect stood down and returned control of Cascadia to those loyal to the republican government.
September Wedding
A well-attended wedding was held on Sept 1, 2019 in Disneyland, Alaska. Some famous guests were present. (slideshow).
October Accomplishments
BonZzil's Second Term
After being given a second term by the majority of citizens, BonZZil aimed to revive Cascadia from its state of inactivity after the August Crisis. During October, Cascadia slowly started regaining activity and reviving, taking in several new towns.
Towny Glitch
On the 4th of October, the towny plugin had a glitch where several nations were accidentally disbanded. The cause of it is unknown, but it would disband a nation whenever a single person left or was kicked from the capital town. Cascadia was hit first, along with Florida and South Australia.
Decline of Alaska
After the Summer of 2019, the province of Alaska was falling into inactivity. There were offers to integrate it into Kodiak, which was prospering much more. Alaska collapsed as a province in late 2019, with Incarnation__ leaving altogether.
Ranger's Reforms
On the 31st of October, RangerMK01 returned to Cascadia to help with the nation as it was suffering major inactivity and collapse. Some major changes were made to the discord, such as the deletion of the Secretary of Recruitment role, removal of the district general channels, and the remaking of the senate proposals channel.
November Quiescence
Unbated's Presidency
Unbated came into the presidency with the aim of restoring Cascadia to its former glory. On the 12th, Dictio went through his probation period and became senator of Amarok. The town of Sugarcane also joined on the 15th.
Vice President 32Oreo's Plans
On the 22nd of November, 32Oreo announced some plans for the interim presidency, such as establishing Astoria as a proper federal city, ensuring an effective balance between the Mayor and the President, expanding usage of the National Bank of Cascadia building, returning national gold reserve to the towny banks, fixing road signs in the Astoria area, re-organizing district structure such that it is easier to understand the structure of Cascadia as a whole, granting Bhutan status as "Overseas Territory" with the consent of the Senate, going over Astoria's main shop street and gutting any inactive shops, commission houses for Astoria's residential district, finding an effective way to get feedback from the frontier towns to know what they need, creating a non-departmental committee for Parks & Recreation, finishing the National defence Department headquarters facility, recognizing GGOVI & Yaznayu as enemies of the state, and maybe making in-game books effort to document Cascadia.
Port Angeles Population Growth
During November, Cascadia underwent a small population boom as Senator and Mayor Estonian_Mapping started the mass recruitment of players into Port Angeles, bringing in many new players, and inviting her friends onto the server. LawofRence and thebigjeff2111, who both knew Estonian_Mapping, joined the server too. This led to Port Angeles becoming the largest Cascadian town, with metropolis status and 42 members at its height.
Replacement of the Vice President
On the 16th of November, Unbated announced that he was replacing BonZzil, who was vice president. He declared that the vice president was no longer fit for office as he had broken the law and restricting Unbated from performing his duties as president. The new vice president was 32Oreo.
Mt. Rainier Joins
The Town of Mt. Rainier, owned by thegamingsquirel, joined Cascadia on the 28th of November, and slowly grew in size. It was reluctant to join the nation at first but Estonian_Mapping an Spleenbeaned convinced them to. Mt. Rainier would remain part of Cascadia until it created the Pacific Republic.
Road and Highway Plans
On the 21st Barbay1 declared that Cascadia's Department of Development would need to have a meeting on the issue of roads of highways and roads, and then do a presentation to the Cascadians on the state of the methods of transport. She also stated that Cascadia needed to write down Cascadian road requirements, like what material and what height, so that citizens know how to correctly build them.
December Anniversary
Barbay1's Presidency
After Barbay1 won the December Presidential election, she began promoting the use of international highways, completed some townhomes, started animal farms, and encouraged events such as the World Expo. Shop policies were also renewed. In tandem with the new plans, the new government was intended to be more transparent than its predecessors. On the 5th of December, 32Oreo resigned as Secretary of defence, being replaced by Estonian_Mapping, who quickly began transforming and upgrading the Cascadian Military. On the 6th, Barbay1 replaced KingBerman with BonZzil, as KingBerman was no longer in the nation.
The Transferral of Athabasca
On the 6th of December, 32Oreo had the nation of Athabasca transferred to him in hopes of increasing the overall productivity of the nation. The district of Athabasca was dissolved as a district of Cascadia, and 32Oreo made a deal with Rudolf_Hoess, which stipulates that if he is to become active on EMC again, he shall have the nation transferred to him and the district restored.
32Oreo held roughly 2/3 financial stake in the in-game towny nation of Athabasca as he personally helped fund one-third of the cost of the nation, and had the backing of one of the other major investors. Rudolf_Hoess was somewhat inactive on EMC and 32Oreo deemed that his plans for Swanavon & the capital of Athabasca were somewhat difficult if not impossible to achieve with the extended outage of sign shops.
As a result of all this, 32Oreo declared the founding of the Kingdom of Haida as a sovereign and independent nation as a member of the Pacific Commonwealth. 32Oreo stated that "this is not a fuck you to Cascadia". Haida would remain independent until February.
Republic Day Celebrations
To celebrate the founding of Cascadia, a celebration was decided to be held on the 14th of December. Fireworks, Banners, and even a Flea Market was prepared. Dispensers and other Redstone contraptions were made for the fireworks, and Christmas ornaments decorated the capital building. A festive spirit hung about Astoria. Barbay1 set up a secret Santa event, where citizens would give anonymous gifts to other citizens using hoppers.
Flea markets were set up at 3:30 (PST), and finally, the celebrations took place at 5:30, with Barbay1 and Estonian_Mapping delivering speeches, and fireworks were set off. At 5:45, Blackjack Casino events were held until late into the night.
Battle of Astoria
On the 13th, Rupert Land's citizens 754 and 268 raided the Cascadian Capital of Astoria. Members of the Cascadian Military such as durablecandy, Spleenbeaned, and thegamingsquirel were present. The Rupert's Land citizens used flame bows, but President Barbay1 put up emergency showers around the capital. The battle ended with at least one Cascadian casualty.
First Battle of Autumnshire
On the 14th, several attacks were carried out by Rupert's Land's military, in order to sabotage Republic Day. A minor skirmish was fought at 8:45 PM, PST. 754, leader of Rupert's Land, harassed and threatened Autumnshire, including using melee and explosives to kill three Cascadian Citizens. After Iron City and Cascadian Reinforcements arrived, 754 retreated, technically resulting in a victory, although the final death count stood at 3-0, with Rupert's Land taking no casualties.
Battle of Iron City
At 9:40 PM PST, Iron City was attacked in the Battle of Iron City. The Cascadian Military only managed one soldier versus the opposing 7, but many brave soldiers and civilians lent a helping hand. Even with overwhelming odds, Cascadia managed to kill some of the invaders. Cascadians had a harder time reinforcing the walled city, as the ice roads leading to it were either nonexistent or in severe disrepair. Cascadia suffered 2-3 more casualties while inflicting 2 casualties on Rupert’s Land. Even President Barbay1 was spotted on the battlefield. Cascadia scored a hit on Rupert's Land, however, when 754 was killed in the conflict. His god armor was displayed in Iron City.
Second Battle of Autumnshire
Another battle took place at Autumnshire later that day, this time with the full force of the Rupert's Land military. There were approximately 10-12 soldiers from Rupert’s Land against approximately 5-7 from Cascadia. Many casualties were reported, mostly on the Cascadian side, but Cascadia held the line, preventing Rupert's Land from getting a firm hold on the city. Rupert's Land eventually retreated, ending the battle.
Barbay1's Boycott
On the 20th of December, 2019, Barbay1 called for a Boycott against Hyperion Enterprises, RangerMK01 and Mihailovic's corporation. She claimed that the independent and sovereign nation of Hyperion was supporting the Cascadian enemy at the time (Rupert's Land) by selling materials to them. Barbay1 also condemned RangerMK01 for not removing old Cascadian members in the cabinet(most notably the people she disagreed with on various topics regarding the nation), as he said "I just value friends more than y'all's self absorption into this role play". This argument, along with other actions taken by Barbay1 eventually resulted in her resignation, with the presidency going to Beepsky.
January Restoration
January Election
After proving her ability by reviving Port Angeles and making it the largest town in Cascadia with 42 members, Estonian_Mapping announced that she was running for president on the 3rd of December, 2019. She won by a landslide, beating her opponent UnbentGODFATHER in a decisive victory of 24 to 3.
Raid on Port Angeles
In early January, soldiers from Rupert's Land spawned in Cascadia and journeyed to the neighboring town of Port Angeles. These soldiers used lava buckets to set livestock on fire. The town lost many chickens and sheep. A warning was issued by Cascadian President Estonian_Mapping, and no further incidences occurred.
End of the Rupert's Land War
On the 10th of January, Estonian_Mapping made a white peace with Rupert's Land, ending the three-month-long war. This was the result of the Northwestern Syndicate making up fake news, and the leader of Rupert's Land exiting politics. The white peace allowed the construction of roads and infrastructure to continue without attacks from Rupert's Land. On the 13th, the Northwestern Syndicate was disbanded.
Cascadian Re-Expansion
During Estonian_Mapping's January term, she launched a fundraising event, raising 500 gold for the Cascadian Government. In the first few days in office, she agreed to a white truce, ending the long conflict with Rupert's Land. After Slave's decline, she even managed to incorporate two Slave towns, Trout Lake and Fort Navington into the Cascadian province of Yukon. Estonian_Mapping also purchased a beacon, which would be used to easily develop Cascadia.
During his term, the town of Wenatchee was created on the 11th of January, Oceantopia on the 15th, and Winthrop on the 22nd. The province of Ontario acquired a new town. “PLEASE WELCOME THE TOWN OF NORTHBERRY TO ONTARIO AND CASCADIA” announced Senator Cyberstorm. At the end of his January term, two provinces, Haida and Vanuatu joined Cascadia. Cascadia also constructed several sections of infrastructure, such as Jefferson Square and the Port Angeles/Astoria Ice Line. On the 31st, Estonian_Mapping made the Secretary of Recruitment a cabinet position, with Vorobyevite being the secretary. This would help increase the population of Cascadia.
War on Michigan
On the 25th of January, Virginia declared war on Michigan, bringing the American Order into a war with Michigan as well. Although Cascadia saw little to no action against Michigan, Ontario, which borders it, was threatened by the nation.
Battle of Ontario
On the 25th, the Cascadian Military was called to respond to an attack on the town of Northberry and Superior, Ontario. Several citizens from Mortician City, Zerena, raided the iceways between the two cities. 3-4 Ontario citizens were attacked by 2 Zerena soldiers. One of the soldiers, thecactusjarod, lured LawofRence and thebigjeff2111, the two responding Cascadian soldiers called by Governor Cyberstorm. The Zerena soldiers employed TNT warfare and melee criticals to kill the Ontario defenders, and knocking the others into the water, and quickly dispatching them. Eventually, the united Cascadian and Ontario force outnumbered the opposing force, and they were pushed to Northberry, where HelloGaming123 and others were building. The Zerena citizens quickly retreated, using the highways to escape.
President Estonian_Mapping and the Cascadian soldiers communicated with thecactusjarod, and were told that they were using the highways for transport, although they had been carrying explosives. Estonian_Mapping retrieved the armor that was lost by the Cascadian military. Final casualties were 3 Cascadian soldiers to 1 Zerena citizen.
February Crisis & Salish-Washington War
The Washington Split
Due to growing tensions between the President of Cascadia, Estonian_Mapping, and former President and Governor of Washington, BonZZil, the province of Washington left the Republic of Cascadia to join the Republic of the Rio Grande on February 6, 2020. What followed was a brief moment of anxiety within the state government that Washington would be on the attack. Though the government decided to keep a level head the province of Ontario called for war against the Rio Grande. Their refusal to listen to the state government led to their departure from Cascadia. BonZzil has since claimed that Estonian_Mapping "insisted on making government problems personal" and that he was still loyal to Cascadia, leading him to attack citizens of Salish, which he saw as "lying usurpers" as he said in an EMC Live interview.
Ontario Successor
On the 7th of February, 2020, Governor Cyberstorm of Ontario declared that he would be passing on his leadership to President Estonian_Mapping, leading to the presidency passing on to Vice President LawofRence. This caused some controversy among senators as the passing on of the Presidency was undemocratic and did not adhere to the Constitution. Eventually, this led to the succession of the Salish Federation.
The Salish Federation Secession
On the 9th of February, 2020 communications between town leaders were leaked by KingBerman after the controversy of LawofRence's candidacy, and the towns involved seceded from Cascadia to form a new nation, The Salish Federation. The Salish Federation has claimed it was created in response to interference in the Cascadian democratic system by former and foreign members, along with a failure of effective governance within the Presidential administration. They were quickly denounced by the Government as traitors and charged with treason, a charge which was originally intended to be tried by a tribunal. Most of the players that were charged with treason outright refused to participate in a trial, including the highest-ranking leaders of the revolt. The leak led to the Salish Federation seceding in revolt with a total of six active towns and two separate nations, beginning an ongoing conflict to current time that has come to be known as the Salish-Washington War. Shortly afterward, the Cascadian Province of Haida, which had just been re-admitted to Cascadia less than a week earlier, also declared independence in solidarity with the Salish Federation.
Escalation of Conflict
Soon after the secessions of the Salish Federation & Haida, BonZZil, leader of Washington, which had declared independence on its own earlier in the week started attacking Salish, sometimes accompanied by others, most often alone. While there has been no publicly stated motive for the original skirmishes between Salish and Washington, it has been suggested that BonZZil had intentions of expanding Washington into territory now held by the Salish Federation.
Salish & Washington continually exchanged skirmishes throughout the early days of the conflict. A major escalation occurred on 19 February when Haidan forces were detected by Cascadian government reconnaissance mining the border of the Salish Federation & Washington. Internal confusion led to the belief within the Cascadian government that Haidan forces were mining roads with military offensive intent against Cascadia. After being asked if he had approved the mining of Cascadian roads, Salish President Vorobyevite claimed such actions were not taken against Cascadia. When a screenshot containing Vorobyevite allowing 32Oreo to place mines on the border were leaked, Salish said that it was fair game if the mines were not in the Cascadian border. It was later confirmed that no mines were placed in Cascadian claims, or with intent to take offensive action against Cascadia. However, some mines were found by the Moscow Temple, a Cascadian national monument, but it is unclear who placed these mines by the temple.
The mining incident had wide-reaching negative public press within Cascadia. Many members of the public reacted strongly to the initial news of Cascadia potentially being dragged into the ongoing conflict. It was widely believed that the government's response to the incident would have reverberating effects on the election held at the end of February. The Cascadian public was also unhappy that Salish had received over 400 gold in funds raised by donations from the citizens.
The civil war continued to escalate as February came to an end with the first full-blown battle between the armed forces of Salish & Washington occurring on 26 February.
Russian Coalescence
On February 25th, Commie Queen offered to join Cascadia to aid its stability. She offered four conditions, several of which were denied, but she joined with the province of the USSR and Greater Russia anyways. This decision nearly doubled the citizens under the Cascadian rule.
March Turmoil
Gold Disappearance
At the end of Estonian_Mapping's term, she left EarthMC altogether, leaving the rule of her many discords and the Cascadian capital of Astoria to her friends and associates. Her Vice President, LawofRence was given control of the nation. He discovered that most of the gold from the national bank, numbering at the time about 500, had been withdrawn. After some investigation, Mihailovic discovered that Estonian_Mapping had withdrawn it all before leaving, using around 200 of it to add to Astorian claims, while using the rest to claim Western Olympia, including half of Jefferson Square. She said that as she added all of his personal savings into the national bank, she had the right to take it back out and use it for Cascadian expansion. A proposal was passed shortly thereafter, preventing the withdrawal of such large amounts of gold.
UnbentGODFATHER's Presidency
After UnbentGODFATHER was elected president in a tight race, he declared that the Cascadian Community would be reviving a long-standing tradition, Fanfic Friday. Incarnation__ was invited to join Astoria, and brought a beacon with him. He completely redid Astoria, excavating new plots, building a library, residential apartments, an art museum, a Catholic Church, and replacing the government building.
Continued Salish-Washington War escalation & Cascadian nonintervention
As the conflict between the Salish Federation & Washington continued, outside attention became more and more abundant. The Salish Federation & Haida garnered the support of the entirety of California by early March, along with the NATO alliance, forming a separate organization known as the Sunset Confederation. A second full-scale battle occurred between the Sunset Confederation & Washington, supported by NATO and the Rio Grande Republic respectively, throughout the Californian eastern frontier.
As the second week of March began, the diplomatic situation of the war became more and more complex, and the newly elected President, unbentGODFATHER made a statement of neutrality, stating that the Republic of Cascadia's government forces would not intervene in the ongoing war.
The Decline of Population
Unfortunately, on the 18th of March the capital province, Cascadia, lost its Realm status, and reverted to being an Empire. Prominent and populous towns like Port Angeles reverted to village status, as many citizens of Estonian_Mapping's January metropolis, which had 45 residents, were kicked for inactivity. Astoria lost Hack3rmann and other citizens, and it lost its large town status. MPCity, fell altogether, being inactive for several weeks already.
Griefing of British Columbia
On the 3rd of March, a skirmish broke out in Lower Mainland between members of the Republic of the Rio Grande and TheRealJewy, with TNT involved. Two members of the Salish Federation were also present, but they were only there to investigate. Some unknown factor turned explosions on in the town, even though permissions were set with explosions off, and Manoia not been on since the 2nd. The beacon and the storage rooms were obliterated, and even though the beacon was retrieved by an Admin, the chests were never restored.
British Columbian Reorganization
After getting his town griefed, Governor Manoia attempted to move his nation, but accidentally unclaimed his town in the process. He decided to leave and sell British Columbia. Manoia received offers as high as 600 gold, but decided he would rather a Cascadian rule it, so decided on a 128 gold offer from Cascadia, using some of the 500 gold that LawofRence donated previously that day. After this deal was made, Advisor LawofRence was dispatched to govern British Columbia so President UnbentGodfather could return to Astoria. It was then given to Mihailovic on the 7th of April.

UnbentGODFATHER was reelected with a landslide vote, beating the other candidates.
Revival of Olympia
Olympia had remained in a state of inactivity for three months, nearly falling on several occasions. Eventually, the mayor, spleenbeaned, passed mayorship of the town to Estonian_Mapping. She started reviving the town but soon grew tired of it, seeing how it couldn't be expanded and how her recruitment system wouldn't work without things to do, and passed the town to LawofRence. In the last few weeks of April, the town underwent major expansion, becoming the largest town in the region with 25 people.
Growth of Salem
During the month of April, Salem increased in population from three to ten, becoming one of the largest towns in Cascadia, thanks to the work of durablecandy and lemon_mellow. For the first few weeks of Salem's expansion it was actually in Washington to exploit their claim bonus since Cascadia lost it that month
Growth of Eureka
The town of Eureka underwent lots of growth during the month, with help of the recruitment discord to get more members. Timeline expanded the town by building lots of new buildings, and he also acquired several beacons. At its height, the town had over 15 members and lots of new infrastructure, including an iceway and developed road to Salem.
May Stabilization
KingBerman's Term
KingBerman was elected president of Cascadia after overtaking and beating LawofRence in the last few hours of the election. After KingBerman was elected, there was some controversy as LawofRence noticed that Berman had removed one of LawofRence's voters accidentally when there was some confusion over voting qualifications and that a person that voted for KingBerman that no longer resided in the nation. LawofRence decided not to pursue this issue further. KingBerman promised the nation that they would serve the people, which was also their campaign slogan.
Province of Kaska
After talks with Remcoms, Kaska decided to join Cascadia after Salish showed interest in rejoining. It was reintegrated in between UnbentGODFATHER and KingBerman's terms.
Admission of Haida
The Province of Haida was re-admitted to Cascadia on the 7th of May, 2020. This was the third time Haida has been admitted as a Province of Cascadia, mostly due to Kaska joining as well as Salish being interested in being a province as well.
Cascadian Crisis
After an argument with Cascadian officials on the 9th, Timeline left Cascadia and joined Cascadia with Eureka.
On the 15th of May, the mayor of Olympia, Estonian_Mapping, joined Salish with her town, decreasing the population of the Capital province down to 44 people, and effectively ending Cascadia's recovery from inactivity that month.
Recovering from the Crisis
After the loss of Olympia, LawofRence, the previous mayor, was not pleased with the mayor, Estonian_Mapping, for disobeying his only request as mayor, which was to keep Olympia in Cascadia. He took the town back and gave it to BigBroPro0425, who rejoined Cascadia. Meanwhile, LawofRence took control of Schaumburg from Beppon, who was giving his town away. Giving control of the town to xBest_Name_Everx, LawofRence then went to Port Angeles and became mayor due to the threat of Port Angeles joining Salish.
June Growth
LawofRence's Term
LawofRence was elected President of Cascadia at the beginning of June 2020, in a landslide election. Through the duration of the month, Cascadia enjoyed significant levels of stability and expansion, as well as an end to the perception of Cascadia as a dead nation. With lots of effort and time as well as some help from others, he was able to bring Cascadia back onto the world stage. The nation became much more active than before, and with the help of many national projects and people having more time during summer, the Republic entered a prosperous era. There was some controversy with LawofRence's presidency as he had joined Salish temporarily.
Battle of Portland
On the 6th of June, 32Oreo was peacefully working around the Portland Area when he was suddenly attacked by a contingent of Rio Grande soldiers, including Cubs_, TheAmazing_Moe, Samisol, and Tony Montana. They explained that it was because of the association 32Oreo had with Salish, and how he still hadn't paid the 100 gold war reparation that was demanded from him. Soon after, the area became a battleground for Rio Grande and Commonwealth soldiers. Several dozen people showed up and LawofRence provide seats for them to watch. The battle caused no damage to the area, and it was good entertainment for those involved. The battle is still memorialized, as the Battle of Portland.
Kaska Crisis
On the 31st of May, Kaskan governor Remcoms announced that he was leaving EarthMC and gave his town and nation to JB54P. After this, he bombed his shop and /n spawn, then turned on PVP to start a battle. A few days later he asked for the nation back from JB54P, but was refused. Remcoms eventually quit EarthMC, but is planning to return soon.
Cascadian Growth
After a couple months of decline and inactivity LawofRence's goal for the month was to greatly increase Cascadia's activity. He increased Astoria's population from 12 to 60 in a matter of days, as well as finished all of the houses that had been left since Barbay's Presidency. In order to combat the dwindling town list of Cascadia, LawofRence gave out government grants to people during the second part of his term. Some towns that were funded under his government grants were Portland, Grant's Pass, Argos. He also tried to adopt a zero tolerance policy on inactivity but realized he didn't have enough people to replace those he purged. Under LawofRence's presidency Cascadia started returning to regional politics as a powerful nation, and the mistakes made under the previous administrations were patched. With funding from 32Oreo, Astoria claimed two areas of land, greatly expanding there claims.
Province Expansion
In the middle of his term, LawofRence decided that he would try and recruit the nation of Montana into the Republic. AIRWOLF678, the leader of Montana, agreed and it joined on the 17th. On the 19th, Oregon asked to join Cascadia, and a proposal was made which passed. Timeline, the leader, was originally part of California which actually gave him 300 gold to make the nation, so had a 300 gold debt.
Kilton Peak Joins
UghK1, the mayor of Kilton Peak (now Edgewater), had been tired of BonZZil attacking and harassing his citizens because of his association with the Salish Federation. After some discord conversations, he discovered how Salish had formed as a rebellion, and decided he did not want to be part of Salish anymore. Frustrated that his town was being picked on, he got in contact with LawofRence and said he wanted to join another nation, and had set his sights on Cascadia, being the other major power in the region. UghK1 backed out a few times but after a dispute with the Salish government on the 20th he left and joined Cascadia. This was the beginning of a large expansion into the Northeast.
Renovation of the Capital Building
During LawofRence's term, Barbay volunteered to help renovate the capital building. The back section and sides of the building was outfitted with windows and sea lanterns were placed around for lighting. Barbay's worked very hard during the project and it turned out to be very successful. LawofRence helped with the lobby. The interior was renovated as well as the exterior. A giant project was undertaken by LawofRence, the Capital Building Basement, who was building it from March but was distracted by other things. It took at least 36 hours of intense work and dozens of inventories of stone, but it was eventually completed. It features over 30 large rooms, three levels, and underground access to other buildings. Since there was a lack of a central storage area, a giant 18 chunk storage area in the bottom most floor was constructed, which doesn't even render completely because of its size. The basement is so large that several people who visited have gotten lost and trapped.
July Prosperity
Aakhof's Term
Aakhof ran in the presidential elections for July and won, becoming the new president. He inherited the nation and continued to make it prosper. During his term, a large amount of provinces were acquired, as well as the creation of new ones.
Summer Expansion
During the month of July Cascadia underwent an extreme amount of expansion, outpacing the expansion it had experienced in July 2019. LawofRence, who was still present in politics after his term, invited the nations of Jefferson, Rough and Ready, and Utah to Cascadia, who all joined. The nation of Canadian Rockies was created on the last day of Aakhof's term, with funding from several Private Cascadian Citizens.
Crusades against Turkey
After several attacks from Aegyptus and Ancient Egypt hunters on residents of Kilton Peak, Cascadia decided to take action. An 8 person attack force lead by UghK1 and LawofRence took revenge on the attackers, as well as crusaded some other members of their nations. Aegyptus and Ancient Egypt have not attacked Cascadia again.
During the Turkish YouTube Invasion, LawofRence, Dornan_ and RichardM_Nixon participated in the battles around the area. They killed several new player and got some loot, and LawofRence even stole a mule, although it died during transport.
Military Training
North_Paso headed the development of the Cascadian Military, which grew in number and in strength and much progress was made to get rid of the joke status of the Cascadian Military. A private server was created and practice sessions were organized by Furballen and North_Paso every week.
Founding of the Canadian Rockies
Kilton Peak and Argos began to retrain the troops and increased activity in the army. They also raised gold in donation campaigns to fund military gear for new soldiers. They made their own nation because of their size and influence. This idea had been debated by the rest of the meganation, and UghK1 decided to continue saving up. The town of Kilton Peak was renamed to Edgewater to reflect the real life location. The towns of Edgewater and Argos began saving up, with Koribyte contributing 600 gold. While saving up for the nation, there was an argument between UghK1 and Koribyte. Koribyte, who had councillor rank in Edgewater, withdrew all of the gold and left the town to make his own, Gilford. Edgewater immediately went and attacked the town. Eventually, it was decided that Koribyte would pay UghK1 the gold back as well as some reparations.
August Turbulence
xBest_Name_Everx's Term
After a close race between KingBerman, xBest_Name_Everx won after KingBerman dropped out. xBest_Name_Everx reintroduced nation colors to Cascadia, as well as introduced many new policies and used lots of diplomacy in discord.
Skimish in Jefferson Square
On the 2nd of August, during a military training exercise in Jefferson Square, the Cascadian Military had been training when several members of Rupert's Land and The Syndicate, 268, UghBraces, IamSen, and BlueSupreme attacked the training members as they had gear on them. Due to an unfortunate series of events, two of the members training were away to get extra resources, and the others were fist fighting with their armor off. Initially, the attackers were held back and they fled temporarily, but Sperm combat logged when his internet cut unexpectedly even though he was at full health, allowing them to gain the upper hand. Minimal gear and casualties were lost, but it reflected badly on the Cascadian military.
Battle of Lower Mainland
On the 15th of August, a battle consisting of the Cascadian army against several attackers was fought in the capital of British Columbia. It was the result of several days of attacks from Amphire in the Cascadian towns in British Columbia. The battle was fought for around an hour, and most of the people online in Cascadia who had gear were present. The Cascadian side had 10 people with the opposing side having 3. Unfortunately, the opponents, Amphire, Jayden7566, and Mednis, who were much more experienced in fighting, killed several of the defending soldiers. Luckily most of the gear brought by the Cascadians were disposable so not much damage was incurred. After the Battle of Lower Mainland, Amphire stopped attacking the Cascadian British Columbia territory.
Cascadian-Californian Alliance
During the first few weeks of his term xBest_Name_Everx, he entered a defensive alliance with California with the Treaty of Astoria which also established borders with California and Salish.
Cascadian Map-Art Competition
A map-art competition was started by Sperm to encourage the creation of map-art by Cascadians. The grand prize was 100 gold, with 2nd and 3rd being 75 and 50 respectively. CaptnClutch7810 won, with Sperm and NA placing second and third. The maps were displayed at /n spawn afterwards.
Core Split
During the latter portion of xBest_Name_Everx's presidency several towns on the outer edges of the capital province joined other provinces. Valkyria and Ba Sing Se joined Haida which was geographically closer, decreasing the population to 70. In addition, Dio had to join Deseret so North_Paso could acquire the nation as a province. Luckily, LawofRence was able to increase Astoria's population to combat this issue.
September Troubles
Sperm Term
Sperm was elected as President of Cascadia in September. His campaign promised an overall increase in activity, transparent governing, and the merging of California into Cascadia. The CID and military was also to be increased in size and strength, as well as the expansion of Cascadia into the Midwestern United States. Cascadia would also regain realm status.
Trouble in the South
On the 12th of September, Sperm announced his resignation as President as the reunification of California had fallen through and he was experiencing real-life issues. Unfortunately, Jefferson’s mayors voted to leave the Republic afterwards, although the leaders of Jefferson all wished to stay. This resulted in xBest_Name_Everx becoming President after Sperm’s departure.
A Republic Recuperating
After the Departure of Sperm and Jefferson, xBest_Name_Everx was left with a government that had suffered extreme growth and loss over the last couple months. Several secretaries were Jeffersonians so positions had to be filled, as well as recruiting more people into the Republic. With the help of LawofRence, Astoria grew to 50 people, keeping the nation at realm status.
Shopping District
During the month of September the Cascadian Department of Development decided to refurbish the shopping district after months of inactivity. LawofRence donated 200 gold to claim more plots and finished building the quartz building which started construction in March. The development on the Shopping District continued into October under the Dornan_ administration, with Hohae and Dornan_ completing the rest of the shops next to spawn.
Portland Tensions
On the 22nd of September, the mayor of Portland, MegaPatato, threatened to declare war on Cascadia because he and Fortis_Ipsum stepped on a mine outside of his town. Tensions rose after Canadian Rockies cancelled the alliance with Cascadia. Unbeknownst to the Salish government, which Portland was under the jurisdiction of at the time, MegaPatato had actually asked for the mines to be placed when he requested LawofRence of Astoria to build a DMZ a few weeks before. After this tensions were cooled and the complaint from Portland was thrown out.

After Fractured_Soul was elected President of Cascadia for January of 2021, the term had ups and downs, but overall ended on a high note.
The First Week of Internal Chaos
Only 7 days into the Presidency, things weren't looking very good. The entire nation was split on decisions and the cabinet was a mess, changing positions between members multiple times. Haida left Cascadia and the Alaskan Empire began to have a split up and lost a few towns.
The Turnaround
The second week of January was remarkable. Michigan was sold for 3.5k to Illinois, which helped Cascadia's Foreign Affairs greatly by getting the nation out of Eastern politics. The national bank reached over 1.5k gold, and eventually would reach 2k gold. On top of this, the recruitment competition was put in place, and would contribute towards the highest spike in population in Cascadian history. Cascadia fought a short battle with the Alaskan Union, in which the AU suffered a defeat, and ended up joining Cascadia a week later. By January 24th 2020, Cascadia had reached 700 residents, which is the most residents Cascadia has ever had in its history, breaking the previous record by over 150 residents. The nation peaked at a population of 707, and fell from that point down. KeijoDPutt, one of Cascadia's best recruiters at this time, purchased the Maldives, and joined Cascadia with its 19th province.
The USA Exploitation in the NAP
USA, at the time led by its leader Bleeblob, was found to be illegally bidding for Michigan during its sale, and lied to the NAP by purging direct messages to Fractured_Soul. This resulted in a vote against the USA, and ultimately getting them kicked from the NAP, merely damaging the Pact.
Important Senate Notes
The senate passed the APA laws, which are successfully helping preserve the legacy of Cascadia by keeping Astoria safe at all times. Funding from the national bank was used to claim around Portland so that they could not prevent Astoria expansion, and Cascadia looted the town of its valuables, ultimately making its leader MegaPatato quit EMC (he later came back). A recruitment competition was held, whiched helped raise the population to its record high 700. A proposal was passed which created a 3rd advisor position in the cabinet, as an addition to the FA card. DICKS was finally amended, allowing for the cabinet to hold the auditor and archivist positions, and for the Justices to view the cabinet. The Medal of Honor was also created for nothing more than a fun tradition to cycle through and note the effort citizens put into keeping Cascadia in one piece.
Strengthening Relations with the Alaskan Provinces and BC
The Alaskan provinces in Cascadia are essential, and make up an astronomical amount of the population. Losing them would be a death sentence to the nation at this point in time, so the cabinet knew they had to do something. As a response, Lyonc and Karlraven06 were added to the cabinet, and Alaskans were urged to attend all senate meetings to better communicate. Klondike, led by Scrabs, expanded greatly too. Both Klondike and the rest of Alaska served a great purpose in the turning-point of this term. Karlraven06 and Daddy_Stirner played a huge role in bringing Alaska together and being closer to Cascadia, and later on regained possession of Newburn after losing it during the Alaskan crisis. BC relations were greatly changed after their leader JesTer_BBX had conversations with Cascadia, usually in the G5 summits, and when Cascadia defended Slave Lake from an attack from NWT. On the 18th of January, Slave Lake had left BC and joined as a Cascadian Province.
The State of The Union
Half way through the term a State of The Union was held, discussing the success Cascadia had and also what will need to be worked on. Cascadia continued to prosper for the remainder of January.
Louisiana and Texarkana
Texarkana, formerly in Michigan, rejoined Cascadia by joining Arizona, which upset Louisiana as they wanted it as their territory. This conflict ended up falling into obscurity and never reached a resolution, making it unresolved, and potentially questioned in the future.
Meganation size
Cascadia broke their all time population, and all time chunk record, with 7500+ chunks, and by population and number of towns (83), it was the 2nd largest mega nation on the entire server. Only to be behind GRE.
February's Steady Decline
BigBroPro0425's Term
Overview
Following a chaotic election which required a re-count (due to issues with the election reactions causing a number of individuals to wrongly vote), BigBroPro0425 confidently won the elections, with more votes then his 2 rivals (xBest and Timeline) combined. February saw a month of steady and stable decline, with the population falling from its January peak of 707, down to 499 by the 28th February. The economy also reversed its January gain, falling from ~1300 to ~1170 gold in the Bank.
Foreign Affairs
The foreign affairs; however, flourished greatly in February. Cascadia helped cement and improve its relations with neighboring powers such as British Columbia, Redwood, and Quebec. These Improved relations culminated in the creation of the Pacific Pact, a regional defensive alliance composed of British Columbia, Cascadia, and The Redwood Republic.
On the 28th February, the Republic of Cascadia joined their NAP allies and launched a formal declaration of war against the USA, citing its violations of Illinois territory as primary motive. As of May the war is still ongoing; however, only sporadic pvp battles have took place, with neither Cascadia or the USA attempting claimblocks on the other.
Vice-Presidental Turmoil
February saw the most Vice-Presidents in one month in the nations history. Fractured_Soul (1st-9th), DurableCandy (9th-18th) and Dornan (18th-28th) all took up the role. Frac resigned from his position citing issues with the Presidency and the nations running, where DurableCandy made his (now revoked) decision to quit activity on EMC and Cascadia's discord. Depsite the chaos this caused at the time, the nation was generally stable and unified for the month.
Attempted Impeachment of FurballenQT
SayerQT was in talks to leave BC (this is factually incorrect -SayerQT) and create a new nation in the West of Canada. Furballen, being a personal friend of Sayer, said she would considered funding the new nation. After she asked Cabinet about the funding she was ordered not to, and then, despite the fact no funding had been transferred, an official prop to Impeach Furballen from her role as Secretary of Defence passed the senate 12-6 on the 6th February. Furballen was also given a 30day suspension from ability to view C.I.D. intel. The trial was held by Justice Fractured_Soul, and following the trial, the Senate voted on her Guilt. The vote had 7 votes for, and 14 against, falling far short of the 2/3rds required to impeach her from Secretary of Defence.
Internal Affairs
February saw 3 new provinces join the Republic of Cascadia. These 3 were Manitoba, October Island and SugarBowl (4.1 renamed to 4.1ContactMods, which they remain named as of May 7th). On the 1st February the Province of Haida rejoined the nation, under condition that the town of Rose Habour rejoin.

The Republic of Cascadia was a Democratic-Republic that had three branches of government, an Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branch.
The Executive branch of the government consisted of the President, Vice President, and the Cabiniet.
The Legislative branch consisted of the Senate, which voted on proposals and laws which were either implemented or rejected.
The Judicial Branch was the Supreme Court.
Executive Branch
President
The President of Cascadia was the head of state of the nation. The president directed the executive branch of the federal government. The President could veto any proposal in the Senate as long as they provide a legitimate reason for doing so.
The Presidents of Cascadia were appointed to their position in a vote on the last day of the month using first past the post voting by all citizens. The polls were open for the last 24 hours of the month, and the President was announced right after the polls closed.
Vice President
The Vice President of Cascadia was the second-highest officer in the executive branch of the federal government, after the president of Cascadia and ranked first in the presidential line of succession. The Vice President presided over the Cascadian Senate and assisted the President in day-to-day duties of operating the nation.
Cabinet
The Cabinet was composed of secretaries and advisors that were appointed by the President of Cascadia, and they overaw the functions of the nation. There were four secretaries and three advisors in the Cabinet as defined by the Cabinet Advisors Act of February by 32Oreo and Heyloki. Secretaries were heads of their respective government departments. Advisors were nation members that have the ear of the President.

Legislative Branch
Governors
Governors were the leaders of Cascadian Provinces. They were free to do whatever they wish in their provinces unless those actions go against national laws. Gubernatorial elections were optional for the governors. Some Cascadian governors chose to have their own provincial governments, such as Haida or Greenland, but others just participated in the Federal government such as the Cascadia Capitol District.
Senate
The Senate was composed of town leaders and elected officials. There were two types of senators, mayors and elected senators. The Senate votes on proposals that are put forth by other Senate members. Those that pass were enforced by the Judicial branch and acted upon by the Executive. Mayoral elections were optional for town owners, but citizen senators are elected every month.
Judicial Branch
Supreme Justices
The Supreme Justices of Cascadia were three citizens that are elected as justices every two months. Head Justices were elected every three months. They decide on court cases that are brought forth by a nation member.
Military
The Department of Defense (DOD) was run by the Secretary of Defense. The Secretary of Defense also holds the highest rank in the military. Following the Secretary of Defense, the ranks of the military follow down in order:

Recruits are a member of the military who has no experience, they learn the basics of each platoon then are assigned by their General to a platoon. Once Recruits has learned the essentials of the military, they will automatically be promoted to Soldiers. A Soldier'sduty is to obey orders of their Commanders on the battlefield or on training operations. Once Soldiers are promoted to Commander, they begin to hold the reigns of leadership over a platoon. The duties of a Commander include: Leading their platoon in battle or training operations, tracking the accomplishments of their Soldiers, and being informed by Generals of what their objectives are for a mission. A Commander will remain as such until selected by the Secretary of defence to be promoted to a General. A General's duties include: Collaborating with the Secretary of defence in executing military objectives, determining consequences for insubordinate behavior, constructing weekly training operations, and coordinating troops in times of war.
The duties of the Secretary of defence include being the representative of the Cascadian volunteer army.
Manage the recruitment of military personnel, and fill the roles of the three essential units: Infantry, Artillery, and Reconnaissance.
Establish and maintain weekly and routine military training exercises to uphold a strong defence.
Provide the Senate with estimations for military spending.
Be the holder of funds provided to spend on the military and ensure that the funds are spent accordingly to the orders of the Senate.
Advise the President and Senate on matters of national security.
Ensure that all towns are guaranteed equal protection by the military.
Appoint Commanders to become Generals.

Cascadian Medal of Honor
The Cascadian Medal of Honor was a tradition started by Cascadian President Fractured_Soul in January 2021, and has been awarded to a citizen or multiple citizens of each month following its creation. The award is meant to represent an act or multiple acts of great heroism and loyalty to the nation, that shows the player is deserving of the award. On top if its recognition in the history books, the award is also handed to the player in game inside of a book written by the President. The table below shows a list of all recipients:
