May 2021 Nubia elections debate

The official May 2021 Nubia elections debate took place on the 29th April 2021, lasting for about an hour and 16 minutes. 12 of the 22 candidates would attend.

Format

Unlike prior official election debates in Nubia, the format would be in that similar to a town hall, with some basic set questions and topics but the debate mainly being conducted between the candidates themselves, with twomoo1119 as the debate moderator. The candidates would be able to respond by speaking in voice chat or in a special election debate channel in the Nubian discord.

Debate

Early debate

First question

The first question in the debate would be by Sad_poo, questioning the candidate and incumbent Lopile on his plans for Minister of Defence if re-elected, with Lopile responding by announcing his intentions to change the Vice Commander and to be more active.

First official moderator question

After this, debate moderator twomoo1119 would ask the candidates what they would to make their term unique, with him being partially interrupted by Greaseballer. Lopile would be first to respond, saying he wasn't the 'most unique candidate, but a candidate with at least experience', whilst Mengan_ would respond by saying she was an unique candidate. IiSoulitez would reply by stating that he would use plans from other candidates that he liked if elected.

After this, gorkymoo1119 would respond by saying he was unique in comparison to other candidates as he was the only one with previous experience in foreign affairs and thus would be the only one who could most likely keep it stable. Soon after this, t0esss would respond by saying that he believed that a Minister should've been a member for over one month, which he had been unlike iiSoulitez and bigdale69_.

Imperial Affairs plan question

After the official moderator question and aftermath had ended, Mengan, who was contesting the Imperial Affairs position, would question Radio_Activ on his plans for Imperial Affairs, with Radio_Activ stating that he did not have any plans. Mengan_ would then question his lack of plan, suggesting it made him an inadequate fit for the position. She would then state her plans for imperial affairs, making use of the role as defined by the constitution.

Sad_poo, the incumbent Imperial Affairs Minister, would then offer his take saying that it was hard to do such. Gorkymoo1119, who had previously campaigned against Sad_poo in the foreign affairs race, said that what Sad_poo had done during his tenure suggests he did not really look into the role properly, before referencing the poll controversy involving Sad_poo with Mengan_ backing him up on this. Attempting to explain the publication of the poll, Sad_poo would say he believed StarKiller1744 would guide him and allegedly ended up misleading him. However, this would be met with claims by other candidates that this meant Sad_poo couldn't think for himself and was still at fault.

Alleged incompetence of Sad_poo

The questioning about what he had done under his tenure would lead onto criticism as him having a lack of prior experience and that he still was not competent. Sad_poo would state that he was only running for Minister of Defence now, however Lopile, Mengan_ and gorkymoo1119 would say that this still involves foreign affairs. Gorkymoo1119 would also point out that Sad_poo was not just running in the Minister of Defence race but also the Minister of Foreign Affairs race.

Early announcement of plans

Greaseballer

Greaseballer would then announce his plans for foreign affairs after the question was taken up by other candidates. Having registered in the elections as a joke, he would make jokes about removing people from Britain in real life from Nubia or use them for other means to improve the Nubian economy. Twomoo1119 would then question how this was relevant to foreign affairs, with Greaseballer saying he would use his power to create a sixth Minister position, Internal Affairs, if elected.

StarKiller1744

StarKiller1744 would announce his plans for Defence soon after this, with him saying he would attempt to make the PvP side of Nubia better and host pvp training on the EarthMC server, not on other pvp-dedicated servers.

CharlieCrafter18

CharlieCrafter18 would announce that he intended to lie to Nubian allies and declare war on everyone to cause them to 'be scared' of Nubia. This was met with wide backlash as the plans were seen as ridiculous and unrealistic, with several politicians questioning his knowledge of the foreign policy of Nubia.

Iwearredhat

After a question on the ability to perform well in their Minister positions, Iwearredhat would announce his plans on improving the economy of Nubia, starting off with him stating his previous experience. He would announce intentions to advertise the Nubian spawn market to increase customers.

Allegations against StarKiller1744

StarKiller1744 would come under criticism by T0esss for killing random people and allegedly harming the foreign affairs of Nubia, making him unfit to represent the nation. Incumbent Minister of Foreign Affairs, gorkymoo1119, would say that he did not believe StarKiller1744 had killed anyone that caused a negative reaction in foreign affairs and that if he did, the foreign affairs ministry would come to him and 'he would listen'.

Late debate

The later 20 minutes would cover a range of issues in quick succession of one another, with Sad_poo and T0esss coming under fire for what they had done in previous terms and T0esss' political views on re-election.
