The April 2021 Nubia elections were the elections for Minister positions in the nation of Nubia. Voting for the elections started on the 1st of April and finished on the 2nd of April 2021, with campaigning starting on the 25th of March.

During the elections, there was drama as a result of a DM dispute between cahden and StarKiller1744. This was after a large argument between these two in regards to independent businesses and companies. The Foreign Affairs race wasn't contested by anyone but gorkymoo1119, with gorkymoo1119 being the first person in the Second Nubian Empire to run uncontested in an election.

The races for Minister of Defence, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs went as predicted. However, Sad_poo was elected in Minister of Imperial Affairs, which was a shock to many, as he had not campaigned. Fijiloopins was also elected, which surprised many, with it being credited to the debate between cahden and StarKiller1744.

Background

Minister of Imperial Affairs vote

Throughout the March term, Ministers discussed the idea of removing the position of Minister of Municipal Development, replacing it with Minister of Imperial Affairs. This was first discussed during the February term, however it was discussed during the March elections, making it harder to implement.

Upon the elections ending on the 2nd March 2021, the new Minister idea was taken up again by gorkymoo1119, with the immediate backing of Mengan_ and Lopile. Over the course of the month, the decision would be slowly backed by the other Ministers, soon coming to a conclusion that it should be implemented after a vote in government and the Lower House passed with a large majority.

Impeachment of UsualKostas

Background

On the 13th March 2021, Driifter would resign from her Minister position. As a result, the office of Minister of Municipal Development was vacant, and, as per the constitution, would have a new holder picked from the person who performed the second best in the March elections, being UsualKostas.

Impeachment

6 days into taking the office of Minister of Municipal Development, several other Ministers expressed dissatisfaction with his performance. As a result, after discussion amongst 3 Ministers, gorkymoo1119 would open an impeachment inquiry against UsualKostas, which would succeed. He would then be replaced by twomoo1119.

During the elections, several Nubians expressed their thoughts on who would be the likely winner for each position, with many agreeing on who would win the position.

Aftermath

On the 2nd of April 2021, the elections would finish and results be announced. It would result in the re-election of gorkymoo1119 as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mengan_ as Minister of Cultural Affairs and Lopile as Minister of Defence. Fijiloopins would be made Minister of Trade and Commerce after cahden lost re-election, with it being credited to cahden and StarKiller1744's arguments over the release of some DMs. Sad_poo would win Minister of Imperial Affairs, with the result being unpredicted and credited to the lack of a strong campaign in the field by his rivals.
