Seoul, like soul; Korean: 서울, officially the Seoul Special City is currently a large metropolis in Korea, governed by The 4th Japanese Empire. Previously, it was the largest city and capital of both Korea and South Korea. Currently owned and governed by Illunox, Seoul is the oldest city on the Korean peninsula, and one of the oldest on EarthMC. More recently, Seoul has been a major site of modern architectural construction – major modern landmarks include the Seoul Train Station, the first temple of Korea, the Seoul Town Hall, the N Seoul Tower, the Seoul Museum, and more.
Geography
Seoul is in the middle-west part of the Korean peninsula. The city is bisected into northern and southern halves by the Han River. Seoul is surrounded by several mountains but the city itself is relatively flat because it is on the Han River plain. Due to its geography and to economic development policies, Seoul is a very polycentric city.
The Han River and its surrounding area played an important role in Korean history. The area on the Han River that is now occupied by Seoul has been inhabited by players since the Beta Era, and it acquired strategic importance to the various kingdoms that controlled the Korean peninsula and grew to become a city during the early historic period.
History
2018
The city of Seoul was founded by SpookyScoops in October 26th of 2018, setting it as the 5th ever town formed on the server. Being one of the very few Asian towns during this time, the neighboring town of Beijing and Seoul only had minimal transactions between the two towns during this time. During this time, most of the player base was enacted in a race for the accumulation of gold.
2019
On December 7th 2019, the First Temple of Korea, run by the Emperor of South Korea and Mayor of Seoul DudeJawayJr, held a public sermon and marked the coronation of EonniJay. The alliance between South Korea and Shimazu was also blessed. Seoul became the capital of South Korea.
On December 30th, 2019, due to inactivity, EonniJay and the citizens of Seoul realized that she would have difficulty running an active nation. It was decided that Rezolent_ would be the new Emperor of South Korea as well as the new Mayor of Seoul.
2020
Unification and Consolidation
January 7th 2020 marked a prosperous day for the fledgling nation, an alliance between South Korea and North Korea was created between Ionao, the Dictator of North Korea and Rezolent_, the Emperor of South Korea. The alliance combined both nations to form a new nation under the name the People's Republic of Korea. Under the new nation, Seoul was no longer the capital of a country for the first time in it's history. The symbol above the town of Seoul was also remade on this day, re-establishing the newly unified Korea's presence on dynmap.
In the time between January 2020 and April 2020, a transition of power as the Mayor of Seoul occurred. Rezolent_ gave the role to Nalasleafheart.
Korean Nether Transit
Around May 19 2020, the Korean Nether Transit (KNT) highways were finished being built. This allowed all the towns on the Korean peninsula to be connected with a fast method of transportation. Seoul is one of the main hubs for this highway to this day.
Rapid decline of Seoul
Some time around July 2020, Nalasleafheart left Seoul, Korea without notice and joined the the country, Shimazu. Shortly after Nalasleafheart left, Seoul rapidly lost almost all of its residents, which significantly impacted the population count. Because of Nalasleafheart's departure, xSxlty rose to the position of the new mayor of Seoul. After Seoul's decline, the past emperor of South Korea, Rezolent_ also left.
Seoul Rebellion
On August 15th 2020, xSxlty made the executive decision for Seoul to leave the People's Republic of Korea and accept a national invitation from Shimazu. xSxlty ignored all attempts to communication with Korean representatives as well as the concerned citizens of Seoul.
The Seoul Resolution failed after Shimazu proposed a treaty to "keep Seoul but to promise to not expand into Korea further." Korea rejected Shimazu's proposal and would only accept a proposal if they would agree give back Seoul. The leader of Shimazu, Qorrin, and the mayor of Seoul, xSxlty, then left and the discussion ended. On August 16th 2020, the People's Republic of Korea officially declared war against the Shimazu Realm.
Change of Powers
Somewhere around September 2020, the Emperor of Japan, KawadaJP bought the town of Seoul from Shimazu for 1,500 gold. Soon after, Enigma731 was appointed to be the Mayor of Seoul. On December 24 2020, during Japan's Post-Reunification Period, Enigma731 was given the throne of Japan and appointed Lord__Troll to be Mayor of Seoul.
2021
From the Stabilization Era to the Illusory Era, the city of Seoul slowly began to prosper again. Under the leadership of Mayor Lord__Troll, Seoul's population slowly began to rise. Infrastructure and monuments were built.
2022
On January 23rd 2022, Lord__Troll granted the town of Seoul to Aradetta. Shortly after Aradetta became mayor of Seoul, she had to resign it due to health concerns. The current mayor, Illunox was chosen to lead the city.
