A failed coup d'état in the Evergreen Republic on 7 June 2022 saw the president of the Evergreen Republic, SayerQT, ousted from office for nearly 2 hours before being restored to power, as well as his prime minister (Federal Chancellor FenshBeetM) and his cabinet. By force, nearly all of the democratic government institutions of the Evergreen Republic such as the Assembly of the Republic and the Supreme Court were vacated and temporarily replaced by a foreign junta. SayerQT, who had been elected on 30 April 2022, was aided in her return to power by popular support and mobilization against the coup by several remaining admins and the removal of LawOfRence from the server.
The coup attempt began at 12:07 PM Pacific Time, when the Evergreen Republic discord account, which owns the Discord Server housing the Evergreen Republic, was accessed by LawOfRence, and gave administrative roles and role of "Head Administrator" to StarKiller1744, the King of Kenya, who shortly thereafter declared himself President of the Evergreen Republic at 12:21. Using the large amounts of power granted to him by the role of Head Admin, he soon began establishing a dictatorship, suppressing dissent, and introducing mass crackdowns on elected political officials. Soon after, Starkiller invited numerous foreign allies of his such as Cubs_, Sadpoo, both of which received Administrative privileges in his junta.
The junta fell apart after one or two hours, with Xyyz0 orchestrating efforts to reconstruct the political and social makeup of the Evergreen Republic within his administrative role that was not taken away by the Starkiller Junta. StarKiller left the server and with lots of resistance from the populace LawOfRence did as well, at 2:19 PM, however before doing so gave ownership of the Evergreen Republic discord account to xBest_Name_Everx, and giving the Head Admin role to President SayerQT. Chancellor FenshBeetM was returned to the Chancellery at 2:01 and SayerQT was returned to the Presidency at 2:23, 2 hours and 16 minutes after the coup was first initiated.
All admins were stripped of their roles for the time being to prevent abuse, however many former admins later received their permissions and roles back. This coup brought to the Evergreen server an unprecedented amount of activity due to the resistance efforts and the agendas of the junta. President SayerQT addressed the nation that night, and a brief national period of reconstruction began. A new discord server was made.
This would be the last major event of the Evergreen government as a governing body, as the announcement and rollout of Terra Aurora just weeks before would later render Nova Evergreen moot. SayerQT would go on to found Cascadia on Aurora, serving as its first President. In Cascadia on Aurora, a similar event would occur on July 23, 2024, where most channels of the Cascadian discord were "wiped", and permenantly lost due to server hijacking by foreign adversaries.
